Right, thats the Fiamma out then. Too many reports of them damaging the van. Ta.

    Thanks guys,

I have used the Fiamma carry bike’s on Type 2’s and T4’s and thought they were really good. However, I have heard stories of dented tailgates on the T5 from using these.
The VW tail gate one looks good and I have used one briefly on a rented T5 but boy are they expensive at £475!

With the tow bar option, is it practical to leave the rack on empty or should it be removed if not required? I do like the fact that the tail gate option can be left on the van without issue and doesn’t require the tail board. The van does have a tow bar so my options are pretty much open.
I will check out the Strada Atera, thanks Stoner.

There seem to be no KS posts anywhere for ages. I really liked using one on a demo ride last year but not seen one for sale since. I’ve been waiting for the 27.2 one.

I build all my bikes from the ground up with carefully selected parts. Even if I have to compromise at the initial build I will have a clear upgrade path for when these parts need replacing, so yes, each bike and all its parts are a very personal choice and I get attached as a result.
Currently in the process of replacing the frame and forks in my full sus but keep putting off stripping the bike down. I find myself standing in the shed looking over it but not actually stripping it down.
I feel the need to pass bikes on (even friends bikes that I have built and serviced) to ‘appropriate’ recipients rather than just ebay them off to anyone. I will often find myself servicing the bikes once they are owned by someone else just so I know it has been done right.
Sad? Maybe, but my 2006 Heckler frame and its respective 130 vanillas will be missed, but hopefully only until next spring when it comes back for the full service treatment.

The Djang Django album is a real mix of stuff. Default stands on its own as a pop track on there but the rest are all a bit different.

Really into the Django Django album at the moment. Nice and refreshing sound.
Also playing a lot of Hifana as well

Get in touch with Hope. I had an issue with my vision 4 a few years ago and they were as good as gold.

You need to get a ‘Helicoil’ in there. Your LBS may do this if they are good, failing that local car mechanic.

Each device should drive what it syncs to. Plug the device in, click the icon that appears on the left and you can select what is synced to that device.
Mrs Wachowchow and myself both use the same iTunes account but have different tastes in music and movies etc. It works fine.

Got the coffee bean one. Still foxed by the woods one though, aargh.

    EDIT, ah, got him.

Found the cat, ah. I have found an object that resembles a face so I don’t think I’ve cracked it yet, hmm.

If I remember correctly, this is quite old footage and he did get nicked for it.

70mm. I have been running this length for over ten years, occasionally try a 90mm to see if I’m denying myself any benefits, but no.
Its always going to be a personal choice though. The Haven is pretty pricy, I would see if I could borrow one, or buy a cheapy just to try the fit first though.

Continental do the orange dust caps on their tubes. Also, the Schraeder type have fully threaded stems and lock nuts like Presta type which is a real plus IMO.
No one else get excited about this type of thing?… No?… Ah well, back in my box then.

Love the Heckler, I ride a 2006 also in orange. They are Tonka toys! :D

Thanks guys. Sounds like I need to look after mine a bit better as well then.

Does this generally apply to all forks and not just Fox?

I use the Specialized Deflect. Had them for a few years now. Not water proof but fairly normal palm (apart from the BG pad) and very toasty once you get going. Spesh say that they are suitable down to +7 deg C but I don’t get them out until its near freezing.

    Thanks dafoxster.

I saw those but never heard of X-Fusion. I’m a bit of a stick in the mud like that.
I just found some Marzocchi 44 TST2’s at a good price. Hopefully they will be in stock as indicated.
If not will definitely consider the X-Fusion option.

I know, I don’t normally. Its the first mud tyre I’ve ever bought. Does bite well for climbing through the bog fest that is my local spot. Cheap way to slacken the front without raising the BB as well? Ooh no, thats a whole different thread, sorry.

I have changed to a Medusa 2.1 on the rear but have kept the 2.35 HR up front. Just love having the corner rail that the HR offers on the front. Not too clever in the mud but the sliding has remained predictable and controllable so far. Medusa is traction tastic.

I do believe Goldie was a prominent graffiti artist back in the 80’s before Drum and Bass was invented. And yes, Lauren Laverne is ever lovely.

Sorry 5lab, been flat out all afternoon. The frame is actually for the boss’s son so we had a nice boardroom meeting this afternoon discussing the finer points of sweet frame and forks sets.
We finally settled on a 19″ Ragley Piglet with 130 Rockshox Revelations and a Hope headset to knit it together.
I think that should light his face up nicely on Christmas morn.

    Thanks for the info though

Certainly for the money the 456 is hard to ignor. Particularly for a 13 year old. As fickle as they are at 13 it may be traded for a set of golf clubs after a year or so. Though he would have to die then obviously. :-)

Thanks IHN. What size forks have you fitted? Do you ride mainly XC or would you consider yourself all mountain? Funny pidgeon hole stuff all these discipline terms but I guess they serve a purpose in these types of quandries.
I was discussing this with a freind at the weekend and we concluded that we now ride ‘most mountain’ and have recently upgraded from ‘some mountain’. We are not ‘all mountain’ yet because that drop is just too big and I avoid tarmac like it will melt my tyres.

    5lab, how tall are you?

    JefWachowchow

He’s not a dirt jumper at the moment, more trail rider that looks for big stuff, downhill, drops etc. Still at 13 his chosen discipline will be in flux for many years I’m sure.
I’m erring toward an 18″ for the reasons you say, theres every chance he may want to go more XC as he gets older, depending on what his mates are doing so I’m wary of getting something too small of focused that will cripple him on longer ride out.

I built my tool kit up over the years and bought them as I needed them. A friend of mine bought the X tools kit and it pretty much has everything that a home tinkerer would need. Not the quality of Park Tools but he hasn’t worn anything out or boken anything yet. Good pricing too.

I had the same. Hope were very good with a very quick turnaround. Fixed for free.

I borrowed a pair of Veggie’s for a weekend in Gisburne. I’d never worn knee pads before and didn’t think I would get on with them at all. Initially I was right, they kept slipping down and I was very conscious of them being there. However, after playing with the adjustments all morning, by lunchtime on the first day I had them fitting nice, staying put and forgot I was wearing them in time. I can’t compare with other types but Gisburne is pretty peddely and the Veggies were fine.

The orange does look sweet. You don’t get the full anodise effect on their web site. My current Heckler is orange though, fancy a change.

I’ve been mincing with the Bandit / Covert dilema for a few months now. I demo’d a Covert a couple of weeks ago and loved it, loved the 36 front end (never ridden them before) and the angles. It looped out on a couple of steep tech climbs but had 10mm under the stem which was only 50mm long. I was still in the ‘but is it just too much bike for UK riding’. You all have convinced me that the Covert is the way. I guess I was in the same dilema in ’99 between the Heckler (then 100mm) and the Bullit and went for the Bullit without regret, though I was 12 years younger then my riding has got bigger if anything. Thanks guys, Covert it is. Hmm, now what colour? I do like the look of the new blue option. Is anyone running zero stack with a 70mm stem? My instinct tells me this would feel right.
