Want to get a 29er hardtail to race next year, I’m hopefully going to do a couple of duathlons so the 32lb Tracer maybe a disadvantage , the trails are usually non techy with steep climbs……. :D and as I’m a fat old fart I need all the help I can get.

I had Lyriks on my 2007 Heckler it was great downhill but a bit of a lump on the ups, I changed to talas 36 , 130mm was good for climbs and trundling alond then flick the lever for 160mm on the downs best of both, my Lyriks where U-Turn which was a lot of faff to adjust, on the fly.

I’ve been running standard no ust Maxxis tyres tubless with stans since 2008 , rims where DT420, Flow, Flowex, Crests never had a problem with tyres exploding only had one puncture which was a 3″ gash, must be down to luck and keeping the pressures below 40psi, usually runnng around 20-30psi. when its hedge cutting time they are a godsend.

High Roller II Exo TR seem to be ok for me so far, side walls are definiteley thicker , I took out the side walls on my two new Advanatge tyres at Penmachno , so tried the new Exo Tr , they are heavier though.

    Should be this tool

screws into the crank arm, then you undo the bolt acts as a puller, usually very simple to do :D
The pins are to unscrew the plastic insert which keeps the threads clean.

having to send it back after 3 weeks is reliable how? that was in 2010 has been used all year round 2-3 times a week since then with no problemS, It was one of the very first Reverbs, they did a mod it was there and back in 3 days great service and hasn’t missed a beat since.

I use mine like I would brakes or gears, without thinking I will drop it slightly for some situations or all the way down for others, and it always comes back to the correct height, no faffing Reverb has been totally reliable , went back after 3 wekeks for a mod, and has been fine ever since, bought it in march 2010 , just bought another for my new frame. Had a ride a couple of weeks back with a standard post became aware of it reaming my butt constantly , :D

Had my reverb for nearly 3 3/4 years only had a problem in the first month, has been fine ever since, never had problems with the remote, its pretty well worn now after being used 3-4 times a week 12 months a year, the black shaft finally got a small line down it from a piece of grit, i got lazy and didn’t clean my bike, still works fine a bit slow in action and has a bit more twist in it , just bought a new one to replace it , my new frame is 31.6mm , have been running the old 30.9mm with a shim, thought it was time to retire it to my wifes bike :D. should last for another 5 years on her bike :D

Was at Coed Y yesterday with the wife the new Blue is great fun and ideal for peeps who don’t have too many skills and a good bike, the Beast is a good trail 38Km and 1800m climbing and some fun obstacles , the Cafe is great highly recommend the Dragons back burger minted lamb :D, we rode the blue twice , the wife really liked it and she hates biking that involves climbing :D

I have one on the front OK so far 2.3 High Roller 2 Exo TR pumped up very easily on my Flow EX rims with yellow tape and dropped some stans in for good measure, Grip on the trail seems fine , mostly ridden them in the dry , just come back from a wet ride and they where fine, running a 3C Ikon TR 2.2 Exo out the back again ok so far , will probably swop it out for another High roller for the winter.

Orange 5 would be my recommendation easy to get used to and go down hill with ease which will do your confidence good and help you push further, and combine it with a couple of skills courses you will be flying.
I had one for a couple of years really helped give me confidence. :-)

I had a 2007 model with 120mm fox fork , xtr groupset and hope pro 3 wheels set with tubless set up 2.25 Maxxis Advantage tyres ,was 24.8lbs , rode really well, climbs great and awesome downhill low BB helps, only when it gets really rough it can get out of shape, I had a 2007 hecker at the same time, which had lyrics and coil shock so felt nothing like but would plough most things :D
