scaredypants , yes the website says for the new frames they are 132.5mm so they will fit both 130 and 135 being flexi steel :D if I went road rat I guess I could use mountain bike drive train and flat bars , I have enough bits to get started, would need brakes and wheels, this route would be my cheapest option, the Escapade would need drop bars and brakes n shifters and rear mech etc not sure if compatible with 10 speed mtb mech.

160mm – 140mm would be spot on for most trails , last time I went I had a SC Heckler 150mm rear 160mm up front, both coil, sturdy wheels and dual ply tyres Super tacky front and a bag of brake pads, cause I was a wimp braking too much…. :D

had my old Heckler done here a few years ago in Italian Yellow was a fantastic job. :D

I really liked the Ikon 3C exo set up tubess stans fast and grippy no problems with side walls, not so good on wet grass , but not really a winter tyre.

How do the New and Old Heckler compare ? :D I nearly bought the new one but got a 26 Tracer 2, has the option to go 650b with new dropouts.

I just bought some they ride really well, I’ve been riding 36’s for 5 years and feel on a par with them for mincing around the trails :D
I have 2013 CTD, been running them in trail mode seem fine, and as they are 26″ the trail is very alive…so far they seem smooth over small bumps and nice and active over faster rougher stuff, not noticed them being flexi compared to the 36’s but I’m probably not that gnar……

wider and shorter works for me 750mm and a 35mm stem , on my 5 I had 745 and 40mm :D

I test rode a couple not as good as the SC Butcher I had at the time, I was really dissapointed because of all the hype about them, both where XT builds like my Butcher , felt really heavy to me.

Are you going 26 or 27.5 ? out of interest…

They are heavy with the clutch mech turned on , super light like 9 speed version when clutch is off, on both my bikes :D

spokes I have that came with the wheel are 295 and 293 ish that was with a specialised 142+ x 12 hub , confused tried a few sites all different :oops:

There is a green route around the resovoir, that would be fine for the most part but its getting muddy around the lake, start from the top carpark will help :D finish at the cafe with cake and hot choclate …

Coed Y B The Beast mid week torential rain , carpark was empty , cafe had some walkers in taking refuge. stood in the shower for £2’s worth trying to warm up, awesome ride though brakes stopped working with the volume of water, never ridden so fast :D

Rorschach is my friend but we never seem to get to ride , and he is way way faster than me , he would have to do alot of waiting :D

I’m 5′ 9″ and had a medium was a great fast bike, I had a reverb and 55mm Haven stem with 750mm Havoc bars , it was the only bike I have felt quick on, sadly sold to finance daughters uni :(

I’ve not opened the last two issues as most of the previous issues have bored me to the point of just going out riding instead , I can’t write but theyve just got boring.

32-36 on my 29er feels like my 26″ bike with a 36 up front
