My Tracer 2 , I’ve just replaced the pivot bearings in the top link, lower link has grease ports so still smooth after 20 months, and jet washed once a week :D replaced top ones with Enduro bearings and packed with marine grease. :-)

yes it did and there was still 15mm to go, OTB and a world of pain if you don’t check :D (my wheel was a Flowex with a 2.25 Ardent 650b)

fit the wheel and tyre remove all theair out of the fork and compress them to see if the tyre hits the crown on my 32’s the tyre hit 15mm before full travel, my 36’s at full travel still had 12mm clearance

Chris King mine lasted 5 years with no service , had it rebuilt still going strong, well worth the extra,

I replaced the Hope bearings with Enduro they stayed smooth for 2 years then I sold the bike with BB fitted had to use a RAceface top hat shim as the bearing internal diameter was too large.

Stripped my 3 year old pro II Evo the other day because I thought it was time for a service, stripped it completely and every bearing was perfect and smooth, I cleaned and greased every thing and rebuilt it i thought that was amazing, into the 3rd winter probably done 6000miles+ and jet washed each week, front was good too it had been run with 15mm adapters just changed to 20mm which dont seem to seal aswell.
Bought another set for my 29er, with the 40t freehub can’t wait to ride them see how the freehub compares.
Just thought I’d add a positive swing :D

I’ve been riding 36 front 11-36 rear for about 5 years can usually get up most hills, but last year my fitness was poor so I did struggle on long climbs, I was just slow still did them but slowly and now my right knee gets sore, so I’m thinking of going 32 up front for the winter see how it feels, :D

I used my trusty hack saw with a new blade, fitted the stackers and stem marked around it with a sharpy and then cut 3mm below the line, fork in a vice then cleaned the edges up with a round file and my bench grinder very carefully put a small shamfer on the outside edge :D yes all by eye, gies it the man made look.

Thanks for the heads up on mud guards I will get a set cheers 8)

stick with the 36 you get used to it, had one up front for nearly 6 years 34-11 when 9 speed cheating now with 36-11 10 speed, can climb most trails at a steady pace :D

collet like this was stuck in and I put a long bolt just into the hole (1mm or so) where the 5mm bolt goes through and gave it a wiggle and she came out.

I have a Tracer 2 now so will have a look tomorrow not stripped the lower link yet , tis greased up ok from the grease port, top link I’ve stripped bearings look a bit cheap , i just popped seals out washed with IPA then regreased, then popped seal back in.

Had similar trouble on a santa Cruz it was locked in with a locking compound, I used a long bolt just into the bottom of the collet and wiggled it carefully just popped out, the other collets came away fairly easy.
