I’ve had to change the front bearings on 3 sets of new Hopes , they where loose on the 20mm axle and one set were ProIII XC hubs QR were also loose, fitted new bearings from my local bearing supplier problems gone, e-mailed Hope had no reply. I just changed them 10min job.
I’m not having a go at Hope , big fan , nice and easy to work on, and change to the different set ups, 20mm , Qr, 15mm, 135 QR, 12×135 awesome.
But they were slow rotating and hopeless fitted rubbing on the brake disc due to movement.

I use one on the rear 2.25 has been good swopped out a cross mark seems to roll just as quick and grips more in the corners, I do think the Crossmark gripsbetter in mud, even though both are not brilliant.

Thanks transporter, seems quite a big jump from a 190 to 165 but I can’t find a shock inbetween :-)

Santa Cruz Butcher or an Alpine 160 both are fairly slack, and should be able to get 30lb ish builds stick a coil shock on for the Alps and DH tyres.

Knee and elbow pads, I had a silly off when I became tired battered my arms but the pads took most of the impact, it was really hot and I started making mistakes. I had a full face on and boiled that day.

Thanks for the links guys, looks very beefy , probably more bike than I can ever fully use :D
sparkingchains I have a strange now, it became the new 5

It has all the features of the new 5 taper head tube , 30.9 seat post with cable guides, and ISCG mounts, only difference is it has the 16″ seat tube but the top tube length of an 18″, ideal for me with my stubby legs :D

I’m 5″ 9″ 30″ leg tried an 18 stand over was tricky tried a 16 too short with a 50mm stem OK with a 70mm and lay back seat post, I wass lucky and ended up with a Strange 5 , 16″ seat tube , top tube of an 18″, I run it with a 50mm stem it’s a good fit, I have the KSi900 seat post which is only just long enough for me I think they are 380mm so with your longer legs a 410 would be better, if you went 16″.

The bike part of the Race is on the Red route, it won’t effect the riding just the carpark will be full, I rode there today the ground was fine a bit wet but nothing major, cafe always swings it fo me, a nice latte and a cake, they do a mean Bacon Bap aswell. :D Penmachno is a hard ride when the weather is good.

I’ve been running a single for 12months+ started with a 36 front and a 32-11 rear hurt my knees changed to a 32 spins out way to easy, have settled on a 34, usually climb most thing with this set up a 34-11 rear would probably be more sensible.. :D

25%-30% sag both ends and 35psi rear 30psi front, usually ok for trail centres for me. 90Kg 8O Have a look at MOJO’s website I’m sure there are videos explaining setup.

LLandegla, has dozens of trees down on the trails blocking them and live power cables across the red route and I think one of the power pylons has come down also, last year I was riding up towards the long climb and a tree came down in front of me and landed between a young girl of about 10 and her Father who was 20m in front of her luckily both where fine, a few seconds either way , it could of been tragic.
