andyl, filing cabinets made me laugh, :D swing arm is fugly but works maxle makes it ubber stiff, tight if you wanted a bigger tyre in there 2.35 is snug. Put my 36’s on and its super stiff is a real point and shoot bike.

Hi rotten I was watching one on ebay last night went for £1220 ,

having seen that I was tempted, mine has a CK head set that I would leave in.

Mine was one of the 15 made.its Neon green. Shock has just been serviced Fox RP23 by Mojo, and it had the Maxle replaced for the maxle lite non-taper, and I popped some fresh swing arm bearings in last month, because I thought I should. :D

And a set of Fox 32 150 Tals Rl Fit taper, 15mm qr forks, now has a reverb , coil shock is a Push’d Van R with Ti RCS spring it rides superb with this shock, :D

would be nice Mr K , but I have arranged to meet with two 5 riders and have a trundle around Degla Mr and Mrs Smith.

you can show me the trails I’m missing out on, may be on my 29er if I still have some dosh left to build one, need to buy a car.

:D Me and 2000 others on our 5’s,

it is a problem having no hearing on one side, its hard to place where peeps are when I do hear them, perhaps I should get mirriors on my helmet :D can’t ride any quicker i’m a bit fat slow old duffer..

Freeride area at llandegla my friend came down it only to find 4 blokes sat on the edge of the drop off along with all their bikes,
and told him to be more carefull 8O

I ride at degla quite often , problem I have peeps come up on my right and say something, but I’m deaf on my right side so don’t really hear them, then they come past pissed off and give me abuse, I need a sign saying pass on my left, never really understand the need to come past at all costs, and i’m never going that slow, although i ride an orange 5 and they attract people to pass you :D
I did have one guy kick off because i was blocking the trail he didn’t notice the young lad splattered on the trail we had stopped to pickup when it was politely pointed out to him he still insisted we should keep the trail clear, at that point he was told to move on not so nicely.

weather won’t be too bad in the forest amongst the trees, just the open bits will be dreary if it does the usual wind and rain.

Rode my bike up my normal long climb tonight and I was in 4th and 5 th ring all the way up which is 17 and 19 teeth on my cassette, 32 up front,
26″ wheels so the 32-20 may well be a good place to start, although I was on a 140mm full sus Orange 5 weighs about 31lb 1 x 10 ,so I’m guessing a 29er single speed will be more around 25-26lb, so I may be able to do better with less weight.

A couple of other bonus’s leaves a space on your bars for dropper post lever and makes it easier to clean your bike no front mech full of pine needles and mud :D

I’ve been using a E-13 srs up front never missed a beat in 2 years, puts some of the weight back on that you’ve taken off, but keeps your chain on :D

I find 32 or 34 up front and 36-11 out back gives a good range, and I can climb most trails with this set up, I tried a 36 up front and found it too hard on the steeper longer rides, some guys can push the 36 upfront, but I can’t. :D

njee20 no I don’t struggle I just find the maxle is nicer to use, I like the design of it and they don’t tend to come loose.

Maxle on mine seems to be super stiff and I like the ease of use over a QR.

Mr K , I’m coming up to the shop tomorrow , I’ll have a look , one of my other bikes is going to make way for a hardtail :D looks like I need a bag of sprockets to try .
I ride mainly on my own so I can just go at my own pace, so picking the right one to suit will be one that lets me ride up every thing coming down I’m happy to roll and pump it.

[P.s,DON’T DO IT 8O ] I can always put gears on if I’m too weak :D

ski, I’ve tried quite a few but my most favourite was the P7 loved that bike sold it when I lost my job a couple of years back,
I’ve had Ragley mmBop, Santacruz Chameleon, Yeti Arc, Azonic ds1 , DMR trail star, 24seven AM, Orange p7 was the best, picked it every time over my full sus.
