Got a 2.0tsi scirocco GT in black. Collecting it on Saturday.

Having owned a golf and driven the scirocco, they feel quite different.

Just driven a 2.0tsi and it was a quality drive. I think the only sticking point would be the fuel economy of having a 200+ bhp petrol car.

Thanks for the replies, tbh I’m leaning towards the scirocco. Off to drive the 2.0tsi petrol today to see if it tempts me away from the diesel 170.

Have a golf GT currently. Bored of it.

Congi gator hardshell 28mm for my commute bike.
Bit more expensive than standard gatorskins, but they’re worth it IMO.

Quality, quality singletrack from the masts down to worlds end and then the offa’s dyke path (trevor rocks) is one of my favs anywhere in the world…… Big statement I know.
Down the eastern side of Ruabon Mountain is good too (from the world’s end side to “mountain lodge”), climb back up from “newtown mountain” to the cairns above trevor rocks to then link up to the excellent singletrack there.

    Gold digger.
I have XTs and elixir 9 on my other bikes, I think the formula brakes are outstanding, really excellent.

Yes I have the 2014 model with the race face rims.
They’ve been spot on, run fast and true. Much like a pair of stans arch/flow.

    I’m on a size large and I’m 6ft.
    Spot on for me.

Go try one out. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

I have a Zesty 527. I thought the 32 form would be a limiting factor and out of choice I would have a pike. But the whole bike form included has performed impeccably. Would recommend the bike without hesitation.
I’ve ridden a 5 and IMO the la pierre runs rings around it (hence I bought it).
The only changes I’ve made is to run it 1×10 and run a hans damph front.

I’m running 100mm on mine, if I did the build over again I’d put 120mm on.

So in answer to your thread title, no.

First series was only short but the second series was 22episodes if my memory serves me. Plus the film too.

    Audrey Horne, heartbreaker.

Quite possibly my fav tv series ever. I re watched again recently and I think it stands the test of time.
By pure coincidence I’m wearing my ‘twin peaks sheriff department’ tshirt as I type this.

I have a Boardman CX and have swapped off the original wheels for a pair of Mavic CrossOne Disc 29er.
They’re doing the job just fine, bearings are running super smooth and they’re noticeably lighter than the original wheels. Not that expensive either (£150 ish)

I trim so it doesn’t hurt when I massage my calves. I get sore calves so need pretty regular massage maintenance. Cant bring myself to fully shave them.
Most of the guys I ride with (racers or not) shave their legs.

I’ve had mine for a year, in that time I’ve changed brakes to bb7 and wheels to some mavic crossone. Serves it purpose as a do anything type bike. Gets used a lot as a commuter with 28mm slicks on and as an out and out cx bike with knobbly tyres on.
Downsides, not many really. It’s a bit heavy but that’s no big deal.

Generally not fussy, only requirement is for it not to be filled with old timers who think they own the place and give you daggers or winge outright if you sit on ‘the table they’ve sat on for 35 year’. Thinking of a local place.

Shame their shop staff in Cardigan aren’t so helpful.

Last time I was in there (relatively recently) they all just completely ignored my wife and I. Not even a ‘hello’ on the way in or a ‘goodbye’ on the way out.

RX brakes are excellent, better than the similar priced avids IMO.
As far as the 32s are concerned I haven’t paid too much attention to the media that they’re ‘flexy’. I haven’t noticed at all, I’m sure 34s, 36s and pikes are stiffer, but the whole bike package is really excellent and really very fast.
    BTW I have a zesty 527.

I believe I use more (certainly different) muscle groups when climbing steep hills so the same effort (HR or power) feels different uphill. Not necessarily harder, just different.
Oddly cycling into a headwind at a set HR feels harder than cycling with a tailwind for the exact same HR.

I don’t mind people sitting on my wheel for a bit as long as they’re willing to come through and do a turn, sitting back there getting a free tow and not saying thanks is poor form.

There’s a regular on my commute who tries to take a free tow off my wheel into a headwind that’s almost always there then peels off just before the road ends and sprints ahead of me to ‘win’.

Get out there and practice pushing the descents hard.

    jeffm

I’m my experience soreness (DOMS) from fell running descending happens when I’m taking it easy, therefore I’m slowing down with every foot strike and putting more pressure through my legs.
If I let go and and let myself run faster then I find I rarely ache, so the faster I descend the less DOMS I get.

    Are you a cautious descender?

You’re going to struggle for traffic free, the only genuinely traffic free routes I can think of is along the don valley (5 weirs route) or there’s a path along the side of the parkway (road) into town. However these are sides of town that I personally wouldn’t want to live.

Scandalous has suggested the Hope Valley, which is nice but the commute could end up as a grind every day both ways as it’s pretty hilly (unsurprisingly), but you could use the train (Hope, Bamford, Hathersage, Grindleford) if you didn’t want to cycle each day.

I’d suggest a suburb rather than a Peak District village, best of both worlds IMO. Lodge moor, crosspool, ranmoor, fulwood, whirlow, etc on the west of the city has easy access into town and MTB on the doorstep into the peak. However the commute is not traffic free, the only part that is vaguely traffic free would be down through the parks Endcliffe then onto ecclesall road.

    I wear medium, 6ft 75kgs.
It’s not super snug on me.

Having a tshirt type fit with these base layers kinda misses the point of what they are and how they work.

It’s an entertainment prog, lighten up. It was all done for (cheap) laughs, just like everything else TG does.

Those who get huffy miss the point completely. Waste of effort to preach on here about how horrendous it all is.

Yes, much better. Replaced bb5 for bb7 on my cx bike.
I mostly use pussy brakes on the tops which work better than the sram rival drop brake levers.

Climb per mile isn’t too bad in the peak. I average around. 2000m in a 65-70km ride. That’s usually taking in a fair amount of hills.
More climb per km in north Wales in my experience.

My wife is an anesthetist, I avoid situations where I have to say that word.

“She a doctor specialising in anaesthetics”, I can do that.
