I paid a few quid extra for the courier for my PX delivery. Unfortunately, the return is going by yodel…

I had Yodel rub salt in the wound yesterday.

Stayed in all day waiting for pick up, but they still managed to sneak a card through the door and miss me.

    I hate yodel

I thought this would be quite handy for my retro build Modern brake to old fork converter bolt

    Edit – didn’t spot you’ve got cantis!

It would be nice to get some sort of official response from PX on this thread…

Mine’s all stripped down and ready to go back :(

Had a very minor version of this happen.

The stem top cap and some of the steerer tube was ground away from I guess being dragged along the tarmac by baggage handlers.

Been asked to send it back to progress the case… don’t want to do this if they are going to say it’s fine…

They had the bb width wrong in the specs, so less chance with the headset :)

    Still like mine*

I would really love the answer to be “b”…. but let’s see what PX have to say.

So what are we talking here?

    a) some sort of recall, b) “relax it’s all ok”, c) make a DIY shim out of a beer can, d) something else…?

Mine’s pretty loose too. Callipers say 31.7 / 31.8 depending on where you measure.

I have an uncut Thomson post in there – thought it was ok clamped up…

Got two sets of Evo + Crest wheels.

Price was pretty amazing. One set has been perfect, but the other set developed play in the rear hub very quickly. New bearings have not fixed it either.

If it works with 36/19, then on my mind it should work with 38/17, because it’s the same number of teeth in total, or have I got that wrong?

Please try it and left me know :)

My SS road bike was 48/18 (72″) which is too high for off road.

36/19 (51″) is too low for on road

but 38/17 is bang in the middle (61″) – so should be good.

Not running gears here, but got one of these in the shed and it looks about right… (could be wrong)

Midge bars – rode with a 120mm road stem last night as it was the only one handy.

I had the angles all wrong so was felt like I was falling off the drops felt weird/too stretched out on the hoods.

Have put a 100mm on there, sorted the bar + lever angle out and will try again.

    Weighs 24ish pounds I think

And don’t bother with the hose clips – too small for cables + not strong enough.

Lost 3 on the first ride and lots of rattling, now cabled tied.

First ride last night. Had a blast on some mixed gravel and rooty singletrack.

Singlespeed, BB7s, Midge bars. Derore cranks. Bash ring (no single ring chainring bolts in the shed!), WTB 29er rims, 40c nano tyres. Flat pedals (for now).

I got lucky – 36×19 fits perfectly with no need for a tensioner. Ratio is probably too low for the flat or on road, but good off road.

Need to get some clipless pedals, fit a shorter stem, sort out lever position and drop tyre pressures!

Why don’t they supply them with the bike if you need these things!!

To be fair, when I bought my Shimano bar end shifters a while back, I’m pretty sure they came with the barrel adjusters but I feel your pain.

The BB width on the PX website is wrong. It’s not 73mm it is a 68 mm bottom bracket shell.

    PX customer services confirmed this.

Anyone want a 73/113mm square taper BB, brand new :(

Got Aviva personal car policy on my van no problem. Insured for business use too, just like my car.

My van is lowered a little, so under 1.9m. Second row of seats + windows means no trouble at the tip or on the M4 toll bridge.

Downsides – not really suitable for going to business meetings etc, noisy on the motorway, no air con or ABS on mine.

But an Astra? thats not really a van, might as well go for an estate or MPV. Go big.

    Parts bin special :)

How capable are these frames for off road / CX style use?

Got my first ever pair for driving. They never seem to be quite dark enough for the conditions. And then outside, they are dark when they don’t need to be.

They’re ok for a cheap second pair, but full time use, no way. Next time I’ll just get a standard sunglasses tint and swap glasses.

Bootlid supports – is this a DIY fix? Mine are a bit lazy…

Mines had airbags, hedgehog done. Still on original turbo + clutch.

Annoying water leak from somewhere in the boot too that I need to fix.

Aqualisa Quartz Digital here – was fine for 6 years, then needed a new controller dial. About £50 and a simple DIY fit. Pleased with it overall.

    Mine’s well over that.

Get on the VW T4 forum and check out the guides.

Look for regular servicing, esp timing belts and water pump.
