    Enjoying mine tbh.

It’s a parts bin special how I’ve built it up, BB7 mountain, tektro drop levers, cowbell bars + bar end shifters. 40c nanoraptor tyres + 29er wheels.

Singlespeed was fun but a bit much for me, so now it’s 8 speed. Might find some more chain rings one day.

I’m riding it on fire roads and single track, hardly any road.

EDIT, I should say, PX were good about exchanging my frame and even let me swap up to an XL in green from the original silver. No slippage so far.

Have seen fake replacements – look about the same, but weigh less than half. With a bit of a rattle when shaken…

@Simon It’s a Diesel Car and I’m paying that lumpy road tax, so I assume that buys me car speed limits like a VW Caravelle.

It’s a car for road tax, and a van for LEZ, it would cost me £100 to go into London…
It’s a car on the severn bridge, a van on the M6 toll.

Is it a var or a can?

A mate has a vivaro crew cab, done a few long road trips in it. I don’t think you would ever remove that triple seat bench. And even if you did and had help lifting it out of the van, you’d need a load of space to store it. It’s not designed to be removable easily.

I’ve got a T4 kombi (this is STW) with the 2+1 rear seats. I’ve taken 1 or both of them out a few times to help friends shift sofas etc. Seats are big/heavy but have quick release mushroom bolts, the same fittings as in the caravelle. I got an ex-AA kombi, so the rear seat / belts were factory fit so no problems with insurance etc.

Another option might be something like a reimo variotech seat / rail, but £££

+1 for Venosc descent, I don’t remember that being too technical, just fast, fun + long. It was a long time agao and was only there for an afternoon though. I’d like to go back.

Alpe d’Huez is not too far a drive away it you want to ride there too.

I had them done over two years ago – Rehau profiles, white uvpc. Bodged by the fitters, bodged again and now they are into liquidation.

This +1, our fitters learnt on the job I think. Doors are just about ok, but not impressed.

And I learnt the hard way that it’s up to the buyer to send off the card to FENSA to get the work covered when the installers go bust.

After looking at this thread, I’m seeing adverts for 30% off sale on the Torgoen store.

nealglover / chambord thanks for the offers, but I think I need a local pick up, I’ve not got anything to pack it up in – these things are big and don’t squash down much.

Let me have a hunt around tomorrow though.

My local cabinet got filled up really quickly when if was installed. After a few months a second cabinet was installed so I assume everyone who was on the waiting list got connected.

Buy from John Lewis, get 2 year warranty, think they actually pay UK taxes if that’s important…

And you can still get repairs done in the apple store – new screen + “a” key fitted for my Macbook recently.

And you can get your order delivered to / collection from your local Waitrose.
(Winning STW + Apple + John Lewis + Waitrose combo!)

Had 2 pairs from http://www.rxsport.co.uk/%5B/url%5D now – seems good service and it’s easy to talk to helpful people on the phone.

I’ve jumped a 3 litre diesel car and a 2.5 litre diesel van with one of these.

    http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/jump-leads/phaze-4-in-1-jump-starter

It’s been a life saver and its handy for camping too. Got a usb socket for phones etc. Jumped a friend’s car too with no problems.

Check the engine sizes in the specs, it’s not supposed to handle these size engines i think, probably wouldnt work if totally flat, but for a low battery it does the trick.

    Ymmv

Edit. On offer too at the mo.

@cookeaa – got this from PX when I asked :

    Hi Jeff

    Thank you for your e-mail

It is actually a 68 mm bottom bracket shell

    Apologies for the confusion

I would recommend a 113 mm bottom bracket

    Kind regards,
    Borys

    ^^^^ That’s a very good price.

Also, check to see if you’re buying from a smoker. We have a load of stuff that has been through the washing machine twice now and is finally ok.

I particularly enjoy fixing those really well-made boilers from the 1980s and 1990s which other technicians are prone to declaring “can’t be fixed mate (or Luv), can’t get the parts”. This is rarely true and sadly results in many perfectly servicable older boilers being scrapped.

    Did this ^^^ for us.

Chain Reaction used to have some spares. Otherwise try paligap.

I found DOPE did improve suspension performance while braking, having had an old stinky without, and a coilair with.

The bar is pretty simple stuff – maybe try a local machinist?

The foam rings do seem to do a great job of keeping grit in contact with the stanchions. (IME)
