We have the Wokingham Regeneration Project – currently killing the town’s shops, replacing a green space with an Aldi and a Hotel, and putting the council £600M+ in debt.

T4 2.5tdi limp mode… Mine was chafed accelerator wiring in the loom where it went through the bulkhead – common problem, only happened when it was wet/damp. VAGCOM will say ‘Accelerator pedal Implausible signal’!

I’m a software dev – the requirements seemed to be biased towards large company / projects and budgetary control / oversight. I doubt I would get through the process.

But Savoy Place – nice place to pop in for a coffee and a sandwich…

OP, in classic STW fashion I went from the meta to 2 bikes:

Bargain L (XL?) 26″ Santa Cruz Blur LT frame off of the classifieds here. Bunged a new set of bearings on and some Lyriks. Not long/slack/modern geo these days, but I think it’s a cracking bike. And I could reuse my wheels etc. Realised that I preferred VPP to single pivot.

Bargain XL 2017 Kona Wozo fat bike – longest bike I’ve ever owned. love it as well.

Just out of interest, are you managers or technical?

Speaking as someone with a same era Meta 5.5 vip frame lying dusty in my shed, I don’t think you’ll get the money you would like selling it as a full bike.

What size is the meta frame? I’m 6’1 and was riding a medium, loved the bike at the time but my current bikes are longer so less ‘sketchy’ / chuckable.

by far the best character in 2000AD.

    Wasn’t that Nemesis the Warlock?*

    *I haven’t read 2000AD since the 80s

Listen for quiet ticking as you put your ear next to a working sensor.

Last fix I did, I had faulty sensors, plus worn insulation and broken wires in the loom too.

Leaky mitral valve in your heart?

Was the cause for my brother – all fixed up now.

Had exactly this – wheel balancing sorted it out.

Got new front tyres a while later, same problem was back with the new tyres. Got the garage to do the balancing again and problem went away.

I _think_ when LaCie say thunderbolt, they mean thunderbolt 2.

I couldn’t bring myself to buy one of the new macbooks and have to change all my kit, so TB2 is fine for me.

I have 2 of those drives, 1 USB C / thunderbolt 2 and one Firewire/USB C for an old imac.
I’ll take a look tonight and see what my one says.

I did a week driving an open top hire car round Switzerland/Italy/France, then a week biking in Morzine. Dumped bikes at left luggage in Geneva for the week.

Booked hotels and chalets ourselves, took the slowest/windiest roads we could find.

Austrian not German, it’s the South Tyrol

I did have one lunch where I ate potato pie with sauerkraut… while drinking german beer out of a boot shaped glass… with non-stop oompah music playing in the restaurant…. Kids got wurst + chips

Pizza places were shut for the summer!

Check with Collets – we took our (older) kids to the Dolomites with them last Summer.

If I went back, I’d think about their self catered apartments.

What sold it for us was that, apart from sorting out our own flights, we didn’t have to worry about anything.

We stayed in Alta Badia and there are some great mountain top play parks for the kids. There’s a combined bus + lift pass too. Not cheap, but makes it hassle free.

Food was more German than Italian there! And we can recommend Lufthansa as being very child friendly.

If you book one of the NCP car parks, make sure you check out google street view to find out _exactly_ where it is.

After getting up at 3am, I ended up in Whitechapel driving round the block a few times until I saw the NCP car park was through an archway in a terrace of shops with a tiny sign inside the arch!

Also, I drove in through the west end, they were closing the roads off pretty much after I drove through.

Once you get going, enjoy the closed roads and remember to keep eating. Road biking is less effort than mountain biking but if you don’t eat you’ll bonk after 2 hours. You’ll be fine :)

I’ve had similar, but the other driver hit my van with his car after undertaking me and trying to cut me up. At least you are not having the pain of a “no fault” insurance claim to deal with (no witnesses).

Report to police as well – they’ll keep it on file (and probably do nothing)

Am in same boat. Wary of paying £250+ on a salvage screen from Hong Kong and hoping it works and is the right model…

The Gorrick 12:12 has some kids races before the main one – shortish lap but with some good singletrack.

When is the time when you need to remote start your own shower but you are no where near it to do it yourself?

You misunderstand, it’s not a wireless remote. Just on the wall by the door so you can turn it on have it warming up without reaching over / getting wet :-)

We’ve had a AquLisa Axis Digital for 10+ years.

All the gubbins is in the loft, Single pipe / riser comes down into the bathroom. Very tidy design.

Only gone wrong once – very cheap / nasty pot used for the temp control dial. Cheap and easy fix.

Got a remote start button too – that is worth having.

Had an indesit here – pump/heater burnt out and I replaced it, then it started having some weird faults reported. Some cables had almost sawn through on a handy exposed sharp edge by the hinge in the front panel. Including mains voltage cables.

Fixed that but was always worrying about what else might be about to go wrong and cause a fire etc… bought a bosch :)

After seeing inside, I would never buy indesit/hotpoint again.

Fitted one to my Accord estate.

Hardest bit was removing all the trim to run the cable to the tailgate.

Was kicking myself – cable that came with the camera felt skinny and poor quality and no surprises, broke at the boot lid hinge after 3 months.

My advice would be to buy some better quality video coax cable if it looks dodgy. Save yourself from having to do the work twice.

I’m on the hunt for Dualiner too – seem to be a lot at the 15K mark, less than that and you seem to be looking at mega miles or the other end of the country to me.

Planning to sell my T4 Kombi when I find the right one.

Should I worry about wheel spinning on grass with RWD + auto?

Can you still use your iMac as a monitor? (Target display mode / TDM)
    I have a Macbook pro with a cracked screen…

Re your original question, in the past I’ve bought a refurbished Macbook Pro (from the Argos ebay outlet store), 2 s/h iMacs and a mac mini with no problems.

2 of these have been bought via the STW forum.

    Had the same problem.

Gave engineer nice biscuits and coffee – got socket moved to somewhere a) central and b) near a power socket for the router.

EDIT – cable was run outside the house. Old master socket has a blanking plate on it now

If you check iFixit, the SSD upgrade is doable but a load of work on those iMacs. (I’ve got one myself)

I would look into booting from an external thunderbolt SSD rather than doing the open heart surgery required.
