Great news – cheered my Monday up!

I’d be more worried about a spare wheel loose in the boot, but I guess you’d have some heavy duty tie downs….

I’ve bought several pairs from https://www.rxsport.co.uk/ over the years – no problems and they are very helpful on the phone + email. Website backed up with real people you can talk to.

EDIT – I went online after bad experiences with Vision Express + David Culow stores

I’m using family link here to control tablets + chrome books, takes a long time to set up, but works from iPhone and the web assuming you already have a gmail account.

Last car I bought, cash took nearly 2 hours to appear in seller’s a/c.

One before that, bank said fast transfers couldn’t be done after 7pm at night and the cash would be there ‘sometime tomorrow morning’.

This leaves the buyer + seller in limbo – buyer has ‘paid’ but seller doesn’t want to hand over the keys.

With the last car I sold, money appeared in my account in < 5mins.

So my advice would be to check what bank a/c your buyer has and check with your bank how long a transfer will take to complete and plan for what you will do if it takes a while.

OK, so for the benefit of anyone else with these hubs.

The key diagram is this one

    There’s a couple of challenges…

The side caps (6) are held in place by rings (5) that are cryofitted? into the hub shell. These need some force to remove.

The axle ‘sleeve’ (1) is a tight fit, you can’t move it to get a drift in to knock out the bearings, the gap between the sleeve and the bearings was too small for my bearing puller to get a good grip.
Applying lots of heat to the hub body and gentle use of the puller + slide hammer got the first one out. After that, it’s easy/normal. Needs 6902-2rs bearings.

Compared to Hope hubs, it feels like these ones were not designed to be serviced!

My Accord clutch pedal squeaked, combo of special O-ring grease + syringe + plastic tubing _almost_ got rid of it.

    I went from a SWB T4 Kombi to a LWB T5 Kombi.

SWB was just like an estate car, anywhere say a passat could park, the van could go.

LWB, the extra length is noticeable, the turning circle is bigger, there is one local multi storey car park which is a pain with the new van. It’s not a car-like parking experience any more. I’ve fitted a reversing camera, I might add sensors too.

But for bikers, I reckon LWB is the way to go. Easy to roll 5 bikes in, wheels in and just go. SWB involved wheels out and faff. The extra space is really worth it.

We looked at caravelles – far too expensive, plus fluffy carpet to destroy with dirt, and taking any seats out is a 2 man job. Kombi + insulation + carpet lining is the sweet spot I think.

EDIT – if you do want to lower, read up on T28/30/32 differences.

Just FYI – The U clamps don’t fit round my aero bars; they were too wide. I had to shell out for the larger T bolts to fit my racks.

How are you guys adjusting your 591s? When I tied moving the clamp back, it was then at the wrong angle to sit flat on the roof bars.

I’ve used Collets – they are not really set up for family adventure hols, but they do self catering apartments and airport pickups if you want a stress-free dolomites trip.

My XL hardtail will not fit on the Thule 591 – the front wheel is too far forward to be safe, and you cannot adjust the rack clamp forward/backward like you could on their old racks thanks to the curved ally base.

I am thinking Upride or the Yakima Highroad now

I used megavanmats carpet + glue on my van and it still looked good nearly 11 years later when I sold my van on.

I think carpet lining is a summer job though – you need all the ventilation you can get…

I quite enjoyed doing the wheel arches!

My Accord experience, I had an EX spec, lots of toys, everything worked perfectly. Interior showed almost zero wear. Car looked great outside and in but underneath was all rust brown… Stupid low profile tyres made it tramline really badly. Plus new clutches and exhausts were _very_ expensive items. I kept it a year and got rid.

I’ve had 2 15″ MBPRs, I went for a 2015 as I didn’t want to buy a new full set of adapters etc and I wasn’t prepared to pay the extra for the touchbar model.

The first one had 2 screens under warranty (1 delaminating glass, one ‘smeargate’ coating problem) and a replacement “A” key after the print wore off. The second one has been fine.

I would really recommend saving a bit more and buying new so you get a warranty :)

Second time was late last year when Therapy? were supporting them. Therapy? were ace, as ever, and the Sisters were shit. I vowed never again 😕

I was there too – was it me or did he forget his own lyrics? I had low expectations so still enjoyed the night.

I created an ad to sell my van, it was £10? for me to list it for a limited duration. I wanted to think whether this is VFM.

I now have an advert in limbo – I cannot pay to activate it, it’s just ‘inactive pending payment’

Not a fan of the new classifieds tbh

As a P, it would be nice to get a free advert or two a year.

For a stress-free life, run ethernet cable alongside the mains cable to the garage.

I did this with regular CAT6 cable, not outdoor rated stuff 7 years ago and it’s all still working fine.

I have the Boardman reflective jacket with zip off sleeves. The front zip lasted one winter before it lost a few teeth and stopped working. Really good visibility and very cheap in a sale. Very sweaty unfortunately. Still looking for the perfect jacket.

I’ve got a Euro Classic folding rack and also a hang on rack.

For holidays etc, the Euro Classic works well, but it is big and really heavy, awkward to fit and store and makes parking a pain. Mine is pretty old now and seems to have been designed for road bikes, not wide tyred and forked mountain bikes so loading so that nothing rubs takes a bit of time + practice

For short trips, the hang on style rack is better – you can leave it in the boot in case you need it, loads easier to attach and load for one bike. Downside is no number plate or light board.

    I’ve had this done.

diagram 4 I think for my garage

    https://www.rctcbc.gov.uk/EN/Resident/PlanningandBuildingControl/BuildingControl/RelatedDocuments/Guidancenotesforgarageconversions.pdf

I lost a noticeable amount of width/height from the space due to all the celotex.
