Tarquin and Jeffrey want to shoot on the weekend

So Jeffrey is a posh name now?! I’m not sure how I feel about this!

My Decathlon experience has been bad.

I made an order in July, it was stuck before the ‘ship to store’ step for 2 weeks, then after 3 weeks they just cancelled my order. I hope you have better luck than me!

Fixing the mech alignment has sorted out my shifting here.

Even still I think it’s sensitive to b screw and chain length. Have you sized the chain according to the instructions – rather than old style + 2 links. The chain needs to be longer with the new style mech.

Yes, done that, got the chain length right, got it the right way round, and got the power link in the right direction :)

Thanks for the tips, I will dig out my mech alignment tool from the shed. Assuming the rear wheel is still true…

+1 for bike discount for this.

Deore 11 speed 11-51t fits onto bog standard shimano HG free hubs.

    @joebristol
, I have just fitted the exact same deore 5100 11 speed mech with SLX 11 speed shifter combo. (I wanted an i-spec B shifter.) How is the shifting for you? I’m wondering if I’ve set it up wrong as I’m getting some slow/noisy upshifts.

I lost my dad when I was 7 to Multiple Myeloma, I had really no clue what was going on at the time and sadly have very few memories of him.

I read this article on the BBC a while back and it really struck a chord with me and I bookmarked it. I wish my dad had left me something like this. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-47334604

I’ve not read the book mentioned in the article, but I like the title :- “lap of honour”.

Donation made to your daughter’s crazy ride.

Love mine too, but mine is a Kona Wozo so more like a fat trail bike.

I really enjoyed that Robbo despite blowing up on the dam viaduct thing!

Bit of a noob question, but the activity doesn’t show up as a race on ZwiftPower – is that because it’s not an official / open Zwift race?

thanks for that – I’ll get one ordered!

This thread has inspired me to dig out my old Tamiya Subaru  – the old 6 cell 7.2V NiCad battery pack is completely dead though.

I guess I need a new modern battery and a smart charger, but would I need a new speed controller too?

I fitted Altro flooring on top of a ply floor my last van (VW T4). I got an offcut from ebay and used the right adhesive. If I was doing it again, I’d invest in a heavy roller to make sure it was properly flat though… It was very hard wearing but did show a few scuffs from the bikes and things did still slide around.

In the end, I swapped it out for a VW factory rubber cargo area mat. My new van has the same – it’s a lot better for kneeling on, sleeping on and stopping stuff sliding about. It’s also more waterproof.

I’ve got 2 HJ frames here – let me know if I can help.

Have you got the original model with the skinny, delicate, bendable tubes?

    I have 6? of these

But I wish I could have bought hinged hooks – makes it a lot easier to pack the bikes in close but still access them

Is ^^^^ that the Pedal Cover terms or the Sainsburys terms Larry_Lamb?

Almost all my bikes are second hand or over 5 years old :(

Do you have any 9-speed stuff in your shed you could donate?

Just swapped my son from old 9 speed deore shifters to my old Sram x9 and he is much happier with the shifting action.

My 2 year old Blutos had a their CSM replaced under warranty due to creaking. It wasn’t something I’d noticed, they were in for a new air cartridge. (Great service from RS UK BTW)

Think back say 10 years and try to remember what the massive stresses in your job were then.

With hindsight, were they that important? In 10 years time, that’s what these problems will be like. :-)

Just hope you can get the wheel nuts off when you next need to change pads/discs etc.

I had to give the local Mr Diamond Drill a lot of money to get my wheels off after my last ever Kwikfit visit.

My advice would be if you need more than 3 seats, buying a factory Kombi / crew cab will give you less hassle with insurance, speed limits, window fitting, seat belts, general safety etc than buying a panel van and converting.

I sleep in the back of my kombi next to my bike – fine for the odd weekend away. I wanted bike carrying space, not cupboards in the back of mine but everyone’s different.

+1 for running a CAT5 cable to outbuildings

Also, I get useable wifi with decent routers (Asus/Latest BT home hub) but not with the last gen Sky hub I’m forced to use now.

Recently used a Lidl telescopic car wheel nut wrench which fitted a shimano lock ring ‘socket’ – scary amount of force / wheel flexing involved but we got the lock ring off

Same here, with both Giro and Bell pads.

Stitching is the only answer I think.
