Focus ST Tdci would be my choice, or the Skoda, and to the guy who says the ergo in the golf are better than the Skoda, poppycock, rather drive the Skoda over the vanilla Golf, just boring and bland. and Ive driven most cars having done some work with car rental companys. also talk to a lot of taxi guys, top of their list is Skoda Octavia. 8)

I think it was a combination of the forestry re grading the fire Road early in the week, (I was not happy when a saw the massive Volvo grader on Tuesday) and latex not working because it was -5 when I got out there at 6.30 on Sunday Morning and it never got above freezing all day, still it was a much nicer day that WS#1 were it rained and was windy all day. 8)

I remember the first Field and Trek catologes, just A4 printed paper with high spec climbing/walking kit at great prices and we used to Q outside their only shop in Brentwood on a Saturday morning to get in on the great deals, they were the days LOL

Thats fine riding on private land without permission, BUT do you know were you are riding has no protected nesting birds, no SSSI or shooting. The Landlord/owner has every right to protect his livelyhood. riding were there are protected ground nesting birds and SSSI is a criminal offence and massive fines for the land owner and person found in these areas. also shooting rights on this private land, you may be in danger of getting shot by mistake.
We used to be allowed to ride and have events on private land in Thetford but a few riders would not take heed of our requests and now riders are banned from this area for there own safety.
My advice is dont be bullish and take note from the land owner. this right to roam is OK but its not a heads up “I dont give a stuff Im going to ride on your land” :?

the law states that on dip beam lights should have no more wattage than 110 watts, thats 2 dip headlights, you are allowed what you like on full beam. you can get the wrong side of the law if you are above the wattage on dip beam, rear fog lights are law in the UK and they should only be used when its foggy below 100 metre or it very poor visability in rain, they are a pain at night in the rain, but you need to use discretion if you are BLINDING drivers behind you. also if you are in close traffic were you can see the car behind you, turn them off. Please, this comes from a driver that has covered over 75,000 miles year when on the road as part of my job.

Dont trust those locks on Thule racks they are a POS, big cable lock around roof bars etc if you can. I know of at least 10 people had there bikes lifted from locked Thule racks. the Thule were you take the front wheel out and lock the forks in are better but not theft proof but the schum would have to find a front wheel. :(

Not sure if its possible but when I used to run Pug 405 estates I always ran the bars upside down on the fitted roof rails, this put the racks about 1/2 of the roof. not sure if you can do this, just thinking out loud.

Ryobi are cheep blowers, about £65/70 I purchased mine on the back of running 3 Ryobi strimmers that were only £80 and took loads of abuse strimming trails for events, heads went in the end. so now have Echo strimmers. got an Oleo-Mac Blower but it seldem gets used for blowing leafs, used for blowing down the mower and the baler in the summer. its quit, light and vibration free, and starts first pull but it was £230. deffo be easier to use than a brush or rake.

How about a good old boring Ford Focus estate TDCI good boot, wheels out and frame fits across with wheels in behind. purchased min with 91,000 (05 plate) now done nearly 140,000 and apart from running costs and services its never missed a beat. ave around 49mpg comfy, not fussy but has all the toys you really need.spends some time off road as I do farm work. cost be 4K
I will have another when I change this one next year and then I will get the £30 road tax bonus.

Not sure if you are booked in for the Thetford winter enduro, if you are we have a set out feed zone were you can leave bottles, and there may be a kind person that would offer them up for you. some people have even set up little tables in the past.
Please dont set bottle feeds up at the start/finish as this will mess the RFID timing up (if its Gorrick or TmtbR) and Timelaps will be on your case.

you could try the Logitech webcam setup, but must admit when Im using it from the USA the picture quality is better than skype but the Audio can break down very easy, I find with skype the picture is not as good but the audio hangs on and generally does not drop out like logitech does.

Alfa 159, the 5 pot oil burner in the 156 was an awsome motor.if you can still get that motor in the 159 that would be lovely, really nice looking motor, just got to give them a little more TLC that say a Boring BMW or a Ford

who ever you hire from need to be made aware that you are taking it out the country, some hire companys will not let you take them out of the UK and those that do charge an extra fee, plus insurances. most hire company I know dont have crew cab vans so you may need to hire a people carrier and take the back row of seats out ?

Here at Thetford MTB racing were we use strimmers to get the race course cut back we used and still have 2 Ryobi strimmers, that have done about 8 years hard work, engines are good but heads are the week point
We are now using 2 Echo strimmers (on a par with a stihl) and around the same money, good smooth running quit strimmer with a fantastic simple head to re load and will take comfortably a 2.5mm line, we are using the Origan line with a thin wire through the centre of the plastic, great for the tough bracken and brambles we deal with,

I agree with shit in a bag in the tree being a bad thing, why not just kick the poo off the trail into the undergrowth, dont see the deer and other wild animals bagging it up and hanging it in trees.
