Christian apologist? Hell no! It’s all insanity that should have died out hundreds of years ago. Or at least when On the Origin of Species was published.

You see I’ve seen those quotes interpreted a number of different ways depending on the person reading them and their intentions. Wasn’t the second one used in a speech post 9/11 by Bin Laden?

It’s all pathetically embarrassing to me that humans (let alone entire nations of them) follow religious texts. To me there is no such thing as someone who’s moderately delusional. The argument that such texts should be tolerated because they are “holy” and only extremists will use them for evil means is the same as the gun argument. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people so they say. Possibly but I suspect an intelligent society would probably remove the guns from the equation.

Aye, whatever. More importantly, what do you reckon to the Specialized Stumpjumper Evo 26″ as a trail bike?

I had one. Headangle too steep, rear centre too short. Not a patch on the 29″.

The list is FACT. Is anyone surprised when their beliefs are based on a war doctrine?

“I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them”

“And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction.”

“As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help.”

So muslim apologists. How should so called moderate muslims interpret the above quotes from the Koran? “yes but they don’t take it literally” Oh **** off and grow up. All religion is insane and Islam is at the the bottom of the barrel.

The comment regarding breeding is FACT (in Canada at least). Might be something to do with having subservient women with no lives apart from child rearing?

Staggering to me that people are saying the cyclist gave the van driver (who was on the phone and would immediately be banned in parts of the US/Canada) no other option but to carve him into the kerb and start pushing him about.

WTF are you guys on? The van driver is grade A chavscum.

10mm is some bigger, sqisheyer tyres and thicker soled shoes.
As above, suspension design and geometry will make a lot more difference.

This. You’re nuts to limit your choices to 130mm. Some 150mm bikes with crap leverage rates feel like 130mm.

Is suspension/pads/helmet really necessary for a trail like that though?

    All relative isn’t it?

The guys in the vid are obviously beginners so they probably feel better on that trail padded up.

I would stay with 26″ and when 650b is dead in two years you’ll look like a genius.

So heartening to hear the so called moderate Muslims denounce these extreme Muslims. How about they grow up and denounce the infantile fairy tale completely and create a real us v’s them with the deluded believers and the sane inhabitants of this planet.

Mountain bikers won’t let common sense or logic dictate their buying choices though. You will get **** putting these tyres on Enduro 29ers instead of buying 170mm 650b bikes.

Maybe they’re already doing that and finding that they’re faster than 170mm 650b…

No doubt you have experience of set-up though.

If your wife’s best friend has just got divorced, then there’s a good chance you will be next. Women divorce in packs!

They also get married, pregnant and buy crap clothes in packs too.

Can’t think for themselves the poor creatures.

DI.A 2015 Breakout Sessions | Are 27.5+ Wheels the Future?

Don’t be scared of chainstay length. Especially at 6’+. Short chainstays (and slack seat angle) means poor steep climbing ability. Think balanced with front centre length and optimal rather than short as possible.

Go 29″ with enough clearence for 2.8 tyres and a BB height that will allow you to drop 10mm without major clearance issues.

In a year you’ll thank me.

    Try riding it?

    Ha Ha! Spot on.

I don’t really ride too many trails that require me to carry the bike. That’s called hiking and it’s far easier without a bike.

I guess hardtails have a place for beardy, map holder types pounding the bridle ways for hours on end. You, know they type who can’t ride bikes fast enough to get any benefit from FS anyway.

    JCL

Well, it’s sort of what your legs were designed for 8), even on a FS you are going to be stood up using your legs as your primary suspension.

Running downhill is a whole different kettle of fish, the muscle contractions when your foot hits the ground generate a force of about 3 times your body mass.

Yeah but even with 100mm of travel all that high frequency stuff that fatigues you is gone. I’d also bet the G loads are pretty high riding down rough terrain. Plus you get the added bonus of tons more cornering/braking/climbing grip. Boggles my mind that people ride hardtails these days when good suspension bikes are available so cheap.

I admit you’re right in that running downhill is harsher though.

Attaching meaning to abstract things is what makes us human. I love my wife, for instance, and my parents. I don’t think I’m mentally ill because I’ve attached meaning to these people in a way science struggles to explain.

    Yes but they exist.

“a long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between reality and fantasy”

That’s Schizophrenia but it it could also describe the religiously afflicted.

You do realise when you stand up all that shock is going through your legs? Kind of like running downhill.. I would go for something really soft, like 120mm soft.

Take some LSD and go for a walk in the woods for a real spiritual experience. Then you’ll realise it’s just a chemical response to stimuli like everything else. People with a susceptibility to such experiences are obviously rather confused.

I find it embarrassing that it 2014 we’re still using the word “atheist”. There is either people have have a mental illness that enables them to attach meaning to the abstract who are called “religious”, and everyone else who doesn’t. If religion was invented now people wouldn’t start using the word atheist. It would be either the religious or crazy and the normal.

The Segment has a 2 degree slacker headtube. I had a Works -2 headset fitted to mimic the geometry of the Segment. The travel remained the same, and the BB hieght was hardly affected.

That’s because you weren’t going from 160-140mm plus shock and headset offsets.

JCL – don’t you watch telly? Monkeys will eat pretty much anything; beetles, snails, scorpions… Seen it first hand in the tiny piece of Malaysia which is left over to jungle. SA too. Gibbons will snap up anything that moves.

But they hardly ever eat red meat do they? I think Chimps go hunting for Howlers or Lemurs in a ritual type thing once a while don’t they?

I don’t think red meat does us much good at all. Iron, Vit D/B12 is available elsewhere from sources that don’t rot in your bowel.

Unless the stock BB is very high you’re going end up with a very low BB.

Not casting aspersions and we all have to make choices for our kids, based on our experiences of life but that’s very, very young for a kid to be taken out of the traditional food chain.

    LOL! We’re primates.

I bet his kids are far healthier than the norm.
