Ok cheers! Will order some whilst on offer.

Thanks for all the advice – never know what to choose width/compound wise etc.

I’m guessing wider you go at the back the more drag you get and need to find a decent balance.

    Cheers, so if changing both…

My Ardent 3C seems to have lasted on the bike but are you saying a duel compound is better for the back, so 3C front Duel rear?

My HR might be going on another bike so rear:

Maxxis Minion DHR II Folding EXO Tubeless Ready WideTrail MTB 29″ Tyre Dual compound.

Front – either 3C of the above or 3C DHF 2.5?

Ignore links, these are the ones thinking:

Front – Maxxis Minion DHF Folding 3C EXO TR Wide Trail MTB Mountain Bike 29″ x 2.5 Tyre (39.99)
Rear – Maxxis Minion DHR II Folding 3C Exo Tubeless Ready WideTrail 29″ x 2.4 Tyre (39.99)

MY HRII is on the front. The rear Ardent is the main concern, and it’s only a 2.25. HR at front is 2.3.

Was thinking DHF 2.5 front and DHR 2.4 rear.

Think my rims are 30mm so would all fit I guess!

My original Bontrager tyres were 2.4. Not sure why I ended up getting so narrow!

So would DHF front DHR II be better than my HR II and Ardent for good all round capability?

What’s the difference between the DHF and DHR?

When I was looking to get the right rise on my Renthals I used an angle app on my phone, basically because the renthal grid is designed to work with Renthals stems and is not at the front.

    Has worked well for me!

I think its better. The post is currently out of stock at OneUp though. The new batch will indeed have the actuator fitted which is a good thing!

    Good service from OneUp.

Sorted me out with a rebuild kit and oversized pin kit – just came back in stock so will update once fitted!

    OneUp with the 2.1 actuator.

OneUp have said future posts with come with this as standard.

If you order from Leisure Lakes Bikes you can spec with the 2.1 actuator at no extra cost. Thay have the 30.9 in stock in 150/180/210. Just order the Santa Cruz version and you get the actuator in the box and its a 5min job to change.

I have stopped chasing. After another weekend ride (all be it very muddy and slippery) I ahev decided to just keep everything as is.

For some reason, and I hate it, I just reasd in to things too much. No idea why, just one of my worst habbits!

I don’t think my bike is too small, but have been told it is too small. I need to learn to listen to myself lol

I was getting my PayPal/eBay fees mixed up! So yeah wait for £1 listing fee.

The trouble is I find selling expensive bikes is that people don’t have the cash lying around and that’s what makes eBay work as they use PayPal. Unfortunately the stupid PayPal fees usually take a big chuck of profit so you need to advertise for more but in turn you get close to prices for a new bike.

I usually advertise on a lot of the Facebook groups that are dedicated to MTB sales.

Spoke to OneUp and they said that some of the V2 posts do have a bit more movement than others and the oversized pin kit can be used. Currently out of stock for at least a few weeks though.

Interesting, so 4 spacers can be as much at 16mm of reach. That’s pretty much a frame size! But dropping one spacer above the stem adds around 4mm I guess.

I like the look of the 29er. Sunset Cycles have a further 10% off sale prices so you can get the frame bit cheaper if they have your size.

Low spec but was looking at the comp at £1169.

That calculation puts me at 792.

But he then says your range will be within 5% if that so that would be 752.

So according to that theory I will be running between 752 and 792 and I’m running 770.

Old post, but hows everyone finding the V2?

Remote is an improvement and the V2.1 actuator is an improvement and much more reliable.

However – I do find there is a little bit of play in the post – especially when in the down position. This was not present in my V1. I think some of it might be that the post has much smaller grooves to keep it straight.

Anyone else notice a bit of movement in theirs?

I see a lot of online journalists saying a lot of things, I know its all about opinion, but a lot of views always come across ‘we are right, you are wrong’.

Recently I have learnt that we are ALL riding bikes that are too small, you have the wrong bike if you cant run a 50mm stem, 780mm bars are for everyone and a few others.

I guess i find myself (stupidly) influenced by what I read. I don’t even know why!!

I went out in the slop with my High Roller and Ardent – it was a bit on the slippy side so might upgrade this yeear rather than go through another winter on this set up.

Well you have me thinking – people have said my frame looks too small or I look too big on the bike, either or.. but its all in the riding I guess.

I can’t actually tell you if i would be more comfortable on a larger frame as I havent tried it. It would allow a shorter stem, but looking at the figures – the next frame size up has 15mm more reach. Shorten to a 50mm, and that reach then becomes an extra 5mm.

The wheelbase, top tube and seat tube are all longer, but it doesnt really equal a huge gain in reach.

    I don’t think I would want a 70mm stem!

Looking at a longer bike now!

Yeah it’s identical to mine bar size, and condition.

It does! Mine is not quite as immaculate, so I would be paying a little bit of the difference. I have been in contact with the seller. No marks or scratches at all. Can’t of been ridden very hard!

My usuals are 760 and the Ergon grips add 5mm each side I think so 770’s really.

Bike bit short with the 50mm so sticking with the 60 for now as don’t really want to spend money on a bigger frame just to run a shorter stem!

That can wait until new bike next year!

I’m going to see how they feel out of the trees today on the more open trails then hop in to the tighter stuff if they feel comfortable!

What’s the standover on the large? Stats are missing from the Geo.

My last large HT was a bit close to taking off my knackers!

The pics are on the website as not purchased them due to the prices!

I have some brand new carbon 800s at home but if I use them I lose money on them if they are too wide. But for the sake of a few lost quid I might try them later!

-10mm on the stem and +40mm on the bars lol. Will see how it feels.

So a quick update after a 69.5 mile ride – actually felt pretty good through the ride and after. Slight bit of wrist ache and neck ache after 45ish miles but nothing bad at all.

Only aches and pains the day after were my legs!

So here are a couple of pics from the ride – I definatly thik I don’t look as cramped as the ones above!

As for bars – going from the sangles of my arms and my span – reckon I could go any wider than the 760s? When doing press up’s I definatly have a wider span – but in the pic – maybe my arms look ok?

    Bad face time…
