That’s a good price on that 905! Very tempting! Comes 99% built lol

I rode a medium 909 (ex demo) few weeks back and sizing felt pretty good – even though size chart had me on a Large.

Based in Eastbourne East Sussex – I have seen the 905 RS for £1350 at moose cycles (large only) and 909 for £1750 (again large only).

As for the size, they said the TR is long and that a medium in the TR and if AM in a large.

You cant get a Yari with it – just the pike! At the prices its going up too I think its cheaper to get a Whyte 905 RS or 909!!

There are more people like me lol! My local dealers have giant, specialized, trek and whyte.

Whyte out of range and the others im not 100% on apart from the stumpjumper fatty lol. But that’s a bad move!

I’m in same boat as there is a lot of bikes in my budget (especially sales) but not a lot of places to try them near by!

So I ask loads of questions on here and probably annoy people and become that guy who still hasn’t bought a bike!

nickc – never ridden a FS lol (only sat on one) so not sure what to expect! As said – if I decide on a FS this thread may be helpful to others looking at a Bird.

Pikes take it up to £1716. Its starting to look expensive!

X-Fusion no longer an option on the build – only on the AM/Aries

Did well to get one! Seems the low price has caused a sell out. None available online, just in certain stores.

Good news! now tell him to make sure its all together ok and go get a stealth dropper!

It seems mud is the issue and mud will be coming my way soon and looking for a bike for all seasons! Maybe the not fatty option is best lol

I have access to the new shop as they wanted feedback from potential customers – no x-fusions anymore (or at least for now). Cheapest forks are the Revelation RL on the 1×11 or sector silver on the 2×10

I put one together and it came in at £1599.

Revelation RL Fork (RCT version is + £60)
SLX 1×11 (GX is £4 difference so down to personal taste)
    SLX brakes
DT Swiss E1900 with High Roller tyres
    Raceface bars/stem
    Reverb Stealth Post

The only thing that put the price up from standard 1×11 build was the dropper post but at £245 its pretty good value.

I did spec a 1×11 Bird Zero today with Dropper and it was £1600 with basic Revelation fork.

Seems cheaper than most 1 x 11 Hardtails out there – if I go HT that will more than likely be my choice!

Wish I could find a T130s under 2k, but seems they all sold and now on to the 2017 model!

Does he want FS? Look at the Bird AM if not.

I worry about some of the employees! When I went to look at them a few weeks back they only had the next version down in stock and built up.

It was clearly a 19″ and when I asked about sizing and said I could sit on that one, he was convinced it was a 16″ due to where the tube was on his hips.

He then wheeled out a 19″ FS bike (one of those sub £300 things) and said it sized up ‘about the same’ lol

This was the Stumpy I was looking at:

    https://www.evanscycles.com/specialized-stumpjumper-fsr-comp-6fattie-2016-mountain-bike-EV250228

Its good to get feeback from riders and not just 1 reviewer!

I was tempted by one of these – but it seems I have left it too late. No delivery avaliable and no stores within a reasonable distance have any avaliable now!

    Specialized Camber? £1500.

I was looking as these too as well under budget and could fit a dropper straight away (it has stealth routing). I think I would be on a large at 5ft 11, but adding a dropper makes me think the 18″ might be a better option.

Apparantly the rear mech hanger is a weak spot.

Hows the stand over on these?

I did look in to the genesis Latitude and high Latitude when I was sure I wanted a HT!

    And the Bird zero.

Specced up a Bird Zero today and it came in at over £1600 with 1×11 and a dropper. Are they worth the ££ if I went HT? The AM looks great but 150mm might be a bit of a mare on the hills!

These 2 look good for the price, leaves change for a dropper!

2017 Anthem is 120mm front 110mm rear, but will probably be out of price range and be getting lower spec for the money.

Trance is £1599 and has a dropper already so its right on the money. Going to go try one at weekend I think, along with the Anthem.

Then if time the Camber (which is in opposite direction!).

    The 650b or 29er Camber?

Anyone ridden/tried the new Boardman Pro FS?

    jayx2a

The SX is the 120mm version… and the SX 2… I just dont like those colours!

The Specialized Camber 29er is £1500 at the moment.

Trance 2 still a good shout based on advice?

The Camber and Trek both have the Revelation. I need to ride the Trek rather than just sit on it lol!

There are specialized and giant dealers near enough to go try.

The Birds are too far away to try – but the Zero gets pretty good feedback! Just depends on price once specced up.

Sound advice. I’m not going to be doing anymore than I do know. I really enjoy being out in the forest and speeding over the south downs!

Interesting about the Anthem – was looking at the 2016 ‘2’ version in giant the other day as it has £500 off but wasnt sure if 100mm was enough.

Tried out a Trek Fuel EX7 (2016) which was on offer at £1200 so dropper could also be bought). Seemed pretty good, but was only in the shop!

Whyte 905 RS 2016 model can be had for good value. Im still swaying between FS and HT and that 909 at Cycle Surgey is tempting!

Bird re-doing their shop so I’m also seeing how much a 1×11 zero with dropper will be!

Seen the Fuel close to me on ebay:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222196346108?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I know its only a small one, but asked about the paint and logos and its been repainted in gloss as he didnt like the matt colour, but also said all logos were original – from what I can see the Oakley logo (think thats what it is) is not on trek bikes? I know its only a small thing, but just thats just me!

The Reign looks proper tasty but 160mm is something I wont use sadly, but love that colour combo!!

Bird starting price is already over budget.

Going to have look at the Fuels.
