So ordered the 2018 Ruckus in Orange and to be safe the Skyline in black.

Ruckus seems better in every way.

Nicer fit and no Velcro fly. Was worried as I’m at the larger end of where I want to be weight wise the zipper might come down but it seems the double popper does a stellar job of keeping that in place.

Also, the pad in the liners is a real step up too and much better material.

So as much as I might look ridiculous with matching shorts and helmet, for £60 I don’t really care! Black ones were £104!

Thats interesting! OneUp have siad they are not compatible – way of making people buy the newer post maybe?

Guessing its same as fitting it to the new post? 2 small screws etc?

So after realising how the V1 post works I think I’m just going to keep it and send the V2 back.

For some reason I thought the cable pull was from the lever all the way to the post and the entire length had to move but as mentioned above it’s only at the post end it moves.

My issue is I have been pulling too much slack through the really tight bit of the frame where as I should of left more slack at the post end!

I’m going to run a new cable through and leave a bit more length this time.

    @Malvern Rider

I think that’s my issue with the Phenom too. Lack of padding + fat bastard status lol

My sitbones are wider than the entire Gobi lol

My short liners were not great so got some nicer ones now. But having been measured at least I know what width saddles to avoid!

Tried the Phenom tonight but hard to tell on a short loop what’s it like.

Felt quite firm and as a heavy lad I’m not sure the padding is quite enough for my weight but will take it for a longer spin to decide.

Just checked my V1 and it does exactly the same and near enough same pressure drop. My shock pump is a pretty cheap thing and does seem to let out a lot of air on release, but as you mentioned the chamber etc!

I’m defiantly fat enough! My fat ass seems to have made an indent in a new Specialized saddle lol

To be fair, I think it arrived dented!

So pumped up post to 300psi which is the max on my pump and then re checked. It’s seems I’m losing about 70psi every time I take the pump off?!

I can hear air come out as I remove it but that’s seems a lot?

I can put up with stained orange shorts for a saving of £88 for 2 pairs!

Got the V2 post and actuator now – was a slight faff swapping them over as getting teh small hex screws through the holes was a tight fit! It says to do up the actuator to a certain tightness but I think it will stay put being hand tightned.

Will install this week and see how it feels and if all is well going up and down compared to the V1 which I will put up for sale soon – in full working order!

Trouble is black all sold out and now only have the 2019 ones in black which are £104!

Sod it. Will order the orange ones. Give it a month and everything will be the same colour of mud anyway. Plus they are £42 cheaper than the black so £84 saving if I get 2 pairs!

My colour coordinated outfit will look class… to a colour blind person.

Did see the Merlin ones but for ones with liner only had Orange in 34”

Ruckus seems to be £100 with liner, ouch.

I am a 34 and the 34 fits perfectly. Ok going to try both I think.

New Skyline also has a zip pocket too. Maybe I should try both and see what fits better.

Found the liners fit quite low on me but guess I’m used to wearing higher fitting boxers lol.

Went to Specialized dealer and had a saddle fit. Came out with a Phenom an have 30 days to try it out and if no good can try another!

Thanks for all the advice. Did a 21mile ride today as was much better. Wrists still hurt a bit but far less than they did on my previous 6mile ride!

I lowered the saddle just a few mm and went back a few mm. Put the unfashionably long 60mm stem back on and put the last 10mm spacer back under the stem.

I didn’t feel cramped at all and didn’t find myself wanting to rest my hands on the bars either.

Hopefully the Tweeks will get me through until I save up for the 2020 Fuel, all be it a bigger size! Although the same size as mine is now quite a substantial 20mm linger in the reach department.

How are the longer distances going on the Sqlabs?

So did 21 miles on the Pure today. First 15 were ok. Last 6 my arse was getting numb as! Might be I’m just not used to longer distance and any new saddle might be the same!

Was chaffing a bit on right cheek but not left cheek lol.

Sadly the part is not compatible with v1!

Trek frame – has a kink in seat tube and the routing around the BB is so tight so that’s going to be the issue.

V2 with the additional Santa Cruz part will be better. Looks like it using the pull of the inner cable rather than movement of the outer cable?

I bought some Endura Singletrack II from wiggle – £39.99 including the better liner that costs £45 on its own at most places!

I tried TLD shorts but the liners seems a little too snug.

It’s the pro version so has the DNA padding what ever that does!

I have tried all sorts and always end up back on my Pure. I just found a brand new one in my spares too as bought 2 when they were in short supply lol.

So guess anything Pure kind of width and shape which might provide a bit more comfort for 60-70 miles.

That SlR flyte might work as it’s 145cm I think.

Maybe I should give the Pure a few more longer rides before investing in anything too mad.

Maybe find a local spesh dealer too.

It might be just that my backside is just not used to longer rides. Im usually doing 5-15 miles rides so anything longer I am just not used too!

Maybe I should just stick to the Pure as I know it works for me and just keep getting the longer rides in. I am a regular rider – but not for longer distance as as someone mentioned I might just need a bit of tough love!

Yeah sit bones have been measured at 11.5, but the dealer at the time only sold Bontrager saddles and I didn’t get on with what was meant to be the comfortable one.

The SQlabs ones are rather expensive at around £110 and they don’t do a cheap version! Amazon currently has one in my size so I could give one a try.

I tried the Troy Lee shorts with 4 hour pad and they were horrible fit for me! Going back to Endura ones now as they have been good.

Was looking at the Ergiwave 611 – but that will be online only and hope it works or they have a decent return policy! I did the sit bone thing and looked at their charts and it has me on teh 14cm.

Most Selle ones I find are quite narrow in the 132cm width so would need to find L1 versions I think!

The Ergon SM was just horrible after a few miles, but my sit bones are fairly wide compared to most so a lot of saddles my boney bits are right on the edge including the SM, even though its the one Ergon ‘recommended’.

The wider Ergon is just too wide!

Yeah the finally dropped the actual virtual thing. They have the 17.5 as M, 18.5 as ML and 19.5 as L so few choices to go for.

My fuel is 18.5 and a 150 oneup dropper fits.

I probably should have got a 19.5 but I went on what felt right and that the shop said it fitted better.

But now I think it’s too small as per my post on here, but not much I can do about it unless I find someone to swap.

So made adjustments this evening and went for a very quick ride and I mean quick so hard to get a proper idea.

60mm stem plus stem up 10mm. Difference to start with just felt a bit more stretched but I did notice that the climb seemed a bit easier.

It’s hard to get a real idea from such a small ride so that will have to wait until Friday.

I ran the 20mm rise and think the 30mm might just put them a little too high.

I would say without measuring they are now level with the middle of the saddle but my eyes always deceive me so could be wrong!

Will see what happens on Friday and get some more pics to compare to see if you notice the difference.

Thanks for all feedback. I have the 60 stem ready to go back on and will put the stem up 10mm.

As mentioned I will try the 20mm risers first and see how that small change makes next ride with the longer raised stem.

I have Ergon GA2 fat grips but was thinking of trying the new GA1 Evo factory ones instead as Wiggle have them on offer and they are meant to be a bit softer.

Will measure saddle height and bar height before and after changes too.

I’m either going to try the wider Ergon or 611 active. The wider Ergon is proper wide though. I think they should have made 3 sizes!

Be interesting to see how you find it. There is a post on MTBR about the Ergon and it seems a few people are having same issues and swapped to the SQ.

Did you get the normal or active one?

Pretty busy week ahead so probably no riding until the weekend. Will pop on the 60mm stem and raise the stem 10mm and see how it feels before looking at some higher rise bars.

Will attempt further photos too see how it effects my overall position.
