I don’t know much about Groves to be honest, I’ve seen a few bits of him on YouTube (degale fight), I struggle to believe he will be much trouble for Froch, but we’ll see. I see him being quite slippery and hard to tag though. Lookin forward to it though.

^ Thanks mboy. I guess my concern is with using a punch is that I may damage the BB shell as there really isn’t much of great deal of a lip between the bearing and the bb shell, and it’s pretty dark down there, and I am pretty clumsy… 😳

If anybody has a link to a relatively inexpensive tool for removing these bearings please feel free to post it, thanks in advance 🙂

Good choice – check out the Tokia 11-16 f2.8 as well, that’s where my money would go. Really nice solid lens, and comes very highly rated for video[/url].

I know what you mean about the warp stabilizer, it takes a lot of finetuning to get it to look “normal”.

Keep up the good work, and I forgot to mention – I’m from Stafford and I didn’t even know this place existed! Will maybe take a visit next time I’m back homewards and visiting the chase trails, maybe try my luck on the beginner Red!

I’ve got the Wheels Manufacturing one with the basic (non ceramic) bearings, seems much sturdier than the SRAM nylon/plastic cups (maybe a few g’s heavier). It’s pretty much identical to the SRAM one apart from the material, and the bearings look removable but I’ve never tried. No complaints with it so far. (http://wheelsmfg.com/products/bottom-brackets-front-drivetrain/bottom-bracket-shells.html) They use standard 6806 bearings.

I used the Park Tools BBT-30.3 to tap (smash) out the old SRAM BB, and fit the new one (combined with a home-made headset press). Sadly I don’t think you can use the same tool to tap out the bearings, of course you’ll probably need a new tool for that!

Worth noting that there’s an old version and new version of the BBT-30.3. You’ll need the new one that is comes with a three-stepped guide for the PF30. The three step guide looks like this:

I emailed hope a while ago asking if they had made a PF30 BB yet, they said no – but they were working on it! <watch this sapce!>

Good edit, the scenes where the rider is coming towards you are really nice. It gets a like from me! The slow mo looks really fluid too.

    hopefully some constructive feedback:
The 700D scenes are lovely quality but the nifty fifty is hard to keep still at that focal length (every minor shake is magnified) so you’ve ended up with the shakes a bit there. So my only advice is film with something wider and ideally IS, or use something to steady the footage (steadycam or something). You could always use something to stabilize the footage after like Deshaker [free] or warp stabilizer (if you have After Effects). If you have the kit lens, it’s actually a good video lens (wide and has IS) with the drawback being that the focus ring is a PITA to use being at the front. And yeah the repetitive bits could have been mixed up a bit throughout the edit. Otherwise really good work, the edit has good pace, good build up at the start, and good choice of music to suit. Bob on!

Garage Bikes do regular rides from their shop, check their facebook for more info.

Also there’s some good mtb routes into Leeds if you plan to commute by bike, singletrack in the morning definitely beats riding next to cars. Give us a shout for more info.

I wouldn’t class it as too rough, it looks like the exact place where my friend used to live. He liked it, and only moved out to move in with his partner.

Another vote for checking out Woodlesford as well, hidden gem. Although beware of buying near HS2 if it happens.

I’ve lived in West Leeds (Headingley), North Leeds (Roundhay), East Leeds (Woodlesford) and I currently live in South Leeds (Morley). Leeds is ace.

I just wanted to give my opionion on South Leeds..

South Leeds has some rough parts but there are some nice areas as well (Churwell, Guildersome, parts of Morley), but it has good access to huddersfield, Calderdale, Halifax, Hebden bridge via the motorway. It has a good Local bike shop as well – Garage Bikes. Generally south Leeds has more affordable housing – so depends on your budget.

I’ve lived in South Leeds now for 6 years, and had no trouble crime-wise. But had our house robbed and I got mugged in North Leeds in the 3 years I lived there. Go figure.

South Leeds has good motorway links to the M1, M62/M621 so you can be most places pretty quickly. If you see yourself travellening and riding a bit more south then South Leeds is worth a look.

I often cycle to work via a combination of road, wooded singletrack and cyclepaths. \m/

On days when I don’t cycle in, the Motorway takes you right into Leeds – which is a bonus as it is rarely congested, which I can’t say for all the other areas I have lived in.

If I had to ride in a huge amount of mud all the time( I don’t) I would just get a fad bike.

Probably a n00b question, but wouldn’t a fat bike be worse in mud? I’m thinking a fat tyre that cut through the mud to get traction, but instead floats on top where it is most slippy? That’s how I thought this stuff worked anyway.

Here where I live we have cycle paths on just one side of the road. Does this mean I have to cycle just one way on them as I’ve never heard of cycle paths being one way especially as they are shared with walkers who go both ways!

I was about to say the same thing, I follow this rule… If the cyclepath is on the road itself, then I assume it is one way. There’s usually one on each side of the road if this is the case. If it is on a shared path (usually on or next to pavement) then I assume it goes both ways.

Even on a 30 road I’d be shit scared riding against oncoming traffic like that, double impact!

As a man much wiser than me once said: “Too many psychopaths, not enough cycle paths”
