The TR is a great bike. I was shocked at how much lighter mine is in comparison to a friend’s DeeDar.

Always had good service from merlin. That scheme might be worth a go.

Follow the advice of B.A.Nana, sounds about right. I would have to disagree with jondoh, I know plenty of people that play sport to a reasonable level but have failed to complete the challenge.

My full Susser is 3×10 and in Nov I bought a 1×11 hardtail. Like you I was concerned about the gearing however I have been pleasantly surprised. On the uphill it requires a touch more effort but not come across anything undo able due to gearing and at the top end I don’t have any bother staying with mates. Mostly ride the HT but now when I do ride the FS I find I’m in the middle ring much more rather than the granny.

Done 2 separate 1 day trips. Very enjoyable with some nice spots to stop off. 3 days would be too much for me but can see the appeal if your into that kind of thing.

Seems like a nice position to be in. Another thumbs up here for bird service/support.

Bird had a mark 1 zero for sale that they had discovered laying about. Might be worth contacting them for more info if your interested.

I have nukeproof pedals on both my bikes. Just replaced the pins on one set, been very happy with them. Rock strikes would take the paint of my previous DMR’s… the electrons seem to hold up well.

Certainly not £27…. how they expect to get any repeat custom with prices like that is beyond me.

Loved my zaskar…. snapped the frame a Lee Quarry.
Gave the frame to somebody on here who was going to use it along with another GT frame to build a canopy over his front door.

Although I have not visited all of the islands I have to agree with wrightyson. Siam Park is definitely worth a visit if you like that kind of thing.

That was my thought too about upgrading, I’ll probably wait until the sektors die or I see a good deal.

I have sectors on my zero, wanted to keep the cost down. Forks seem to do the job well enough and going by your description im sure he’ll be fine with them.

Sounds like you had a lucky escape. Managed to do the same on my trigger 4 a year ago….. totalled the frame, glad yours survived with minor damage.

Think you’ve seen the comment on the other thread but really liking it. It’s the first hardtail I’ve had for a while and forgot how fun/capable they are. I did look at a few other bikes including the on one deedar but kept coming back to the TR for spec and looks. Its been faultless and the service was first class. I even emailed Bird one Saturday night not expecting a reply until Monday but got a reply minutes later.

I’m in West Yorkshire so not much use. As qwerty said Bird are really helpful.

I bought a Bird Zero TR a few months ago, could only afford the basic build but its been brilliant. The Deore brakes are better than the SLX brakes on my full susser. Will upgrade the sector forks eventually but they do the job.

Im about 5 11″ and ride a medium TR. its pretty much bob on for me. Where are you located? might be worth seeing if there are any Zero owners local to you.

I once had a buyer that wanted to collect the bike in person but pay via paypal. Didn’t seem right to me so passed up on the sale, if he really wanted the bike he would have offered cash on collection.

Sounds like your in a similar situation. If the buyer is genuine he’ll settle for cash and a hand written invoice.

Masham could be another consideration… not sure about the walking but Theakstons Brewery, Blacksheep Brewery and Brymoor Icecream all in close proximity has to be a bonus!

There are a lot of good people on pinkbike. For peace of mind could you see if anybody on stw is local? Failing that as others have said if your happy to take a punt on £50 then go for it.

If you like the Trance then go for it. Better to have too much bike than not enough.

One of my mates has quite a senior post in a large pharmaceutical company. Whilst out on the road he saw one of their drivers smoking in a works van, the driver didn’t have a job the next day!

Agree with looking at giants. The giant Stance (120mm travel) is another to consider, looks like it can be had for £500. Can be worth trawling gumtree as there are some good bargains at this time of year especially Iif your willing to travel.

Two biking friends run vivaros (builder/plumber). Neither have had major issues and one of the vans has over 200’000 miles on the click.

Sorry my mistake. My friends giant post has been fine and hes pretty tough on equipment.

Out of interest why are you after an internally routed post if you don’t have the holes in the frame to accommodate one? Externally routed reverbs are cheaper so might be within budget. A friend uses a giant contact which can be run as both.

Maybe head over to stainburn. Its not huge but good fun and has waymarked routes too. From there you can always potter towards swinsty too.
