Doh. That’s not the one i meant, the other one that’s not full length, sprint was it?

The sprint ran on the Saturday and was stages 1,2,3.

Sunday, think the intro did 4,5,6,7 and the sport covers all stages.

I bought a vivaro in August, have lined and insulated it and plan to add a few luxuries in the back too. I also use it as a daily driver (32 mile round trip) and it’s fine. Used it at Ard Rock and Ard Moors and it’s been great.

Both my reverbs died in the same week so I’m going with the brand x (£105 @ ubyk) as mentioned above. Now sure how good it is but they carry a 2 year warranty. There’s PSA on Evans reverbs in the forum if that’s what your going for.

I quite like the area around swinsty reservoir for littering and exploring.

That laura Ashley story tickled me… definitely won’t attempt that method!

Cheers for the info, the escape route down the loft ladder isn’t great and we don’t have any laura Ashley cushions so I’ll let them be then although one of the little feckers stung me at 2am the other night.

Personally I found the stages at Ard Moors more difficult than at Ard Rock, still doable but really had to concentrate and found myself ‘on the edge once or twice.

I have a pastoral role within a high school, unless it was due to a serious incident I wouldn’t hold a pupil longer than 10 minutes within making contact with parents/carers.

When detentions are issued a text message is sent to the number 1 contact to inform them.

I also have a Samsung galaxy and it’s useless on Strava, I just use an old iphone to log strava and the either upload the data via WiFi of tether it to my samsung.

Coordinated it at my school for a few years however I’m unable to access school system/emails from home. Similar to above, we used the local authority to organise our expeditions, usually had around 60 kids out on expedition.

Probably already looked but some of this might be useful… https://www.dofe.org/leaders/resources-and-downloads/

Trance is probably more trail than enduro actually, Paul’s is still worth a look, they have some good bargains now and again

If kids were to wear their own clothes it would be tough on those kids that don’t have many clothes, kids would soon pickup that they were wearing the same outfit on multiple occasions each week. At least school uniform removes this problem. Also when the local kids are up to no good go to/from school it makes it easier to report to the correct school.

Great do! Still here on the Sunday eve! Bit disappointented with the amount of litter left behind. Just had a stroll to the skip with a bin bag and the amount of rubbish I picked up en route was unbelievable. Box full of rubbish left 10m away from the skip… anyway grumble over!

As perchy said, get a voucher perhaps even but one for two weeks or so and trial it to ensure your happy with settings/security. I once linked a credit card to An account and it was bloody impossible to cancel it. Things may have changed a bit now but better to be safe.

Didn’t attend last year but on previous occasions never had any problems with BBQs. Think as long as your sensible and it remains under control and a sensible distance for tents/vehicles etc it’s not an issue.

If your buying direct then consider the after sales support too. The support Bird offer if second to none, they will look after you and their frames carry a lifetime warranty which can be transferred to the new owner if you were to sell the bike on. I ride a zero TR and am very happy with it.

Did it 2 years ago on specialized grid tyres with no problems, plan on doing same this year.

My offer of kit still stands, located in West York’s. I can offer a rucksack, sleeping bag, liner, roll mat…. any gaps on the kit list I’m sure I can help fill. Feel free to drop me an email. I can also supply some food for the expedition if required.

Please do not be afraid to ask for any further assistance on here if it’s required. I’m not sure what support network you have with your friends and family but I’m sure there are various ways members on here can support you if required. Small donation made but would be more than happy to put more in at pay day if needs be.

Your child will more that likely be doing two expeditions, the first one will be a practice consisting of 2 days and 1 night and the qualifier will also be over the same duration. There should be some training prior to the practice expedition in areas such as cooking, camp craft, navigation, first aid etc.

Where are you located, if your anywhere near me (West Yorkshire) I might be able to loan you some kit. Failing that there are some good suggestions but another good place can be sports direct, cheap boots and waterproofs which are perfectly adequate for DofE.

EDIT – Glad you got sorted, still let me know if you require any kit and are local, happy to help out.

Too late now but probably should have got something in writing.

Ask the shop owner to put new tyres on the bike and your friend takes the hit on the cost?

    jaylittle

That’s a fair point about assuming the trail is clear but isn’t that one of the main reasons venues like this are ridden.

I once got shot down on here for mentioning a family group that stopped on the hully gully descent at gisburn. That video highlights how dangerous it can be for both parties. Fair enough you might bite off more than you can chew or have a mechanical so need to walk but you really need to be aware of other riders. Hope all involved were ok.
