Mines developed a bit of play in the rear end. Need to get it sorted as doing PMBA gisburn, Boltby Bash, Ard Rock and Ard Moors this year.

Had a few holidays in Croatia, by far the best one involved a bit of island hopping, Split – Bol – Hvar – Makarska – Dubrovnik.
Also spent time further north, did Rovinj last year, very nice and enough to do for a week but wouldn’t want to stay much longer, Same with Pula a few years previous. I get a bit bored sat round the pool but enjoy hiring a bike or going for a stroll.

I’m with Stu on this one, he was offered assistance by peaks and now they are nowhere to be seen. It’s right that they are under no obligation to offer help but they did which was good of them… but why offer help and not follow through. Now I’ve not lost any money in this fiasco but what I do know is that I will never spend any money with ubyk or peaks.

Loving the landrover, my first buy with a lotto win would be one of the 130 land rover ambulances.

I’m just converting a 2009 swb vivaro although I’ve fallen out with it this week as the battery keeps going flat.

I’ve asked about frame size in the past and had the reply 29″ or 27.5″….

Also love the ads with liquid brakes, gas suspension and Top of the range mentioned in them.

A friend had a similar issue and there was a kink in the hose/cable but as it was internally routed we couldn’t see it until we removed it. Straightened and new inner cable and it’s been fine since.

I usually fill my van up in a morning (6:30), always have to triple check it’s the correct fuel…. once brimmed a works van with unleaded, somebody else then took it out…. didn’t end well… Oh and the lease ended the following day!

Bird – Always very helpful with any issues, sold me a crank very cheap after I twisted mine.
Paul’s Cycles – helped me out with a few issues. One was a bike I got mail order, found it a touch too big but I’d scratched the seat post, they said to just post the bike back but keep the seat post and front wheel (to prevent damage in transit). They then posted me the next size down.

Paisley are good but you only get the £20 price with minimal/no insurance. I’ve never had any bother but I’ve never posted a bike valued at over £500 So always taken the risk.

That’s very true Ally, i keep putting it off but unfortunately there have been a few incidents over the past few weeks. I’m hoping that the cameras will act as a deterrent rather than needing to use the footage but I’ve heard of a large number of incidents taking place last night in the local area including tools stolen from vans and houses burgled.

One of my first aftermarket saddles had a red Kevlar style material, I thought it was great until it got wet and it was like a sponge.

Years ago a friend worked recovering motorcycle seatcovers. He did a few bike saddles too. He used the old cover as a template and when it came to attaching the new cover he stapled it to the ‘carcass’. I cant recall the materials used but it was pretty comfy and looked great. Thought about trying it myself but not sure I’d have the patience.

Did a year in oz which consisted of some great road trips however the most memorable was Perth to Broome (WA). Places of interest on the way were the pinnacles, Wooleen Station (cattle station with great history and wildlife), Shark Bay, Exmouth (snorkelling at turquoise bay).
Whilst in Darwin we visited Litchfield national park, crocs, spider, birds of prey and swimming in safe waterholes. If you have long enough do the Kakadu trip instead though

Did a 2 week stint there a few years ago. Was a great place with lovely people, spent time trekking in the atlas mountains and also stayed in Marrakech & Essouira.

It’s certainly a buyers market at this time of year. Got a 650B hardtail I’m about to list but might wait until spring. It’s only short of a dropper post but this and the bike could be had for less than £600

Even on the new forum paid for adverts will remain at the top so you need to keep scrolling to see the new ads.
There doesn’t seem to be as much activity on the for sale forum now though.

A mate rides ones, reasonable spec for the cash but they are a pretty heavy frame compared to other hardtails I’ve ridden (Bird zero, Orange crush, vitus).

Bought a vivaro last year and so far so good. A few mates have them for work vans too one of which has done over 230’000 miles.
If your on Facebook search and join a TVP group in your area. Lots of advice and sometimes vans for sale too.

Gisburn at the bottom of Hully Gully I came across a chap with a flat and no spare, gave him a tube so he could finish his ride, he was probably at the farthest point from his car when he got the puncture.

I hope you chucked the old one into the ceremonial ‘tube tree’ there, like everyone else seems to do…*

Of course in fact all of those tubes in that tree belong to me!

I probably give away more inner tubes to fellow cyclists than i use myself, some of the memorable ones are…

+ Ard Rock, came across a bloke pushing towards the last stage, he’d been running tubeless and used the 2 spares he’d brought. Gave him a tube so he could do the last stage. Saw him later and he kindly bought me a pint.
+ On the canal near Elland a bloke commuting had a flat so I gave him a tube and another lad in our group change it over for him.
+ Gisburn at the bottom of Hully Gully I came across a chap with a flat and no spare, gave him a tube so he could finish his ride, he was probably at the farthest point from his car when he got the puncture.
+ Not an inner tube donation but about 8 years ago I was travelling with the missus on the great ocean road and was flagged down by a cyclist, he was on a 5 day cycling trip to meet his wife and kids but had fallen behind schedule and it would be getting dark well before he reached his destination and with no phone signal he was unable to contact his family so was concerned they would worry about him. We loaded his bike in the camper van and dropped him off at the family holiday home where we had tea and cake and the offer of a bed for the night, unfortunately we had a pretty tight schedule but it was a nice gesture.
