Voodoo’s measure from centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube, if he measured to the centre of the top tube and that was 16″, then I guarantee the bike is an 18″.
Both voodoo and Kona have the extended as they were both designed by Joe Murray.
Try sitting on the bike and see how it feels!

I’m down with the SD bashing, but they do sell some genuine (adicrap, nikke aasics etc) for some pretty good discount.
But then I like Planet X, and think the Holdsworths are fairly good too!

I have just had my rear Tesla replaced under warranty (which has taken weeks and been like pulling teeth), but overall I would rate them quite highly. They also currently have the new Tesla Evo’s coming in to stock which sound amazing when spun up.
I also have superstar road wheels which had a 1cm radial drift when I bought them and had to be retrued and tightened before riding.
I would recommend going for it but just checking before you ride as things may need a tweak

I was well impressed with the switch evo hubs on Stans, and I think the Sentinel rims are fantastic, however, Tesla rear hub is giving me trouble in that it clanks and bangs along and every so often it “slips” ever so slightly.
I have sent it back to Superstar who returned it stating there was nothing wrong. I have the exact quote copied from the email..

“hello i hav einspected your wheel and can find no obvious problems. if there is just a snap noise with no loss of drive this is normal. as the teeth are so fine (3 time closer thana DT hub) if you are between engagements it will jump to the next one if not fully engaged. too much grease or dirt inside will cause it to happen more frequently”

So if you are happy with a clacky hub get the better quality Tesla!

Unless you are super long in the torso I would suggest the 17″ P7 or the 16″ inbred, as most mtb’s are now more about top tube length than seat tube length.
Of course you could always hve a real racer stretch or use a really short stem!

I am just in a battle with Parcel Monkey as Shittylink never collected my parcel and PM won’t refund until they get the money from CL.

Do not use either the rude w***ers at Parcel Monkey or even City link if you can help it!

I have had an Inbred, Sanderson Life, Charge Duster and a Saracen Kili 853 and I would recommend them all :D

I have the sentinel rims and am not light, and they have held up for 2000+ miles including a trip to Long Mynd and quite a few batterings round the Hope/Ladybower area.
I bought them because I like tubeless but don’t like the struggle I had with Stans and would recommend them(SS not Stans).
On the other hand I mostly like SS stuff so don’t take too much stock in what I say

I think if they were being sold with another logo on them they would be touted as excellent…

One day every year the BHF do a sponsored bike ride in the peak district, as they did on Saturday.
They let riders out the gates in groups of 75 to 100 and those groups would still be together when reaching Mam Tor having had no major hills to separate them.
So riders from all over the place come together for one day to raise money for a charity, there are sign posted all over the area, giving a boost for the local economy and all STWers have to go on about is group ethics!
I rode it yesterday and praise the BHF for the way they started these events which mostly allowed traffic to flow normally, I hope there weren’t too many people held up, but to coin a phrase the guys on the mountain bikes pay road tax too.

I used one of these on my Anthem, when the bearings went I just knocked them out and press fit new ones in…

You could use a King one

BB71 and 91 should fit unless you have Sram Cranks then you need the GXP BB

I have a feeling that the cups in the hub cannot be replaced so would need the hub body replacing and as such a new hub would be a better vfm option.

Where abouts are you as there may be someone on here who could help with a wheel rebuild, or even buying at a shop may get them to rebuild the wheel cheaply! (You could even have a go your self )

I could be totally wrong though 8O

You can get Schrader Valved Schwalbes at Chain Reaction, you are able to remove the cores and will allow you to get the mostest air in at once!

You may also find that fairy liquid in a 1 to 1 mix with water is a good way of helping to get a seal, although I have found that Conti’s are a tough tyre to seat due to their rigidity!

SS bearings are just generic, found in other manufacturers headsets aswell so it’s not the headset or bearings that are “rubbish”.

Superstar do sell bearings for £7.99 though see here

For that you should get some free Haribo’s aswell!

    Edit – not quick enough

maybe one of them mountainbikers should get in the tour and smash them all. Easily.

    Cadel Evans

I think we’re getting carried away, I just disagreed with the initial crap roadie being fitter than a crap mtber statement.

Yes if I use 200w on both rides I will be expending the same amount of energy that’s not the point I’m trying to make.

Because of the radical difference in terrain and the difference in the vehicles to traverse it, my belief was that the average 2 hour consistent mtb ride would likely expend more energy than an “average” 2 hour consistent road ride.

The tour statement is not even relevant.

I am still not convinced on the roadie fitness thing…

2 hours constant XC will use far more energy than 2 hours constant road riding. The road bike covers greater distances with less resistance!

    As for

If we use Strava as a guide, i am one of the fastest mtbers in my area, but average as a roadie.

simply because there are excellent riders in your area who don’t ride MTB.

I use the road bike to enhance my endurance fitness (what there is of it) as I know I will sustain a steadier HR for longer.

I am not knocking Roadies or their fitness, I think it is a different kind of fitness, and even Boardman commentating at the olympics waxed lyrical about how fit the XC racers were as they rode with consistently higher heartrates.

As for the OP wear what you like, ride what you like, joining a club will get you fitter quicker and most clubs encourage beginners no matter who they are!
