Seems a bit of a faff.
I’ve spoken to 3 people at the Newport velodrome and still no closer to booking a session.

All beginners courses booked up until March 2013 and the improvers which we were told we could do is End of Jan 2013 but they have to wait for the guy taking the session to allow us on it.

Oh well. Getting slightly more disappointed with this tbh.

Ah right, so iI understood correctly. Also to get in contact is a real pain in the arse. Only phone number is for the switch board and they don’t know anything. I have to wait for a call back up to 3 days.

Ah we’ll – will call Calshot in the morning, so hopefully get more sense.

Moving the saddle will activate you quads though. You really should be using your Glutes (arse).

Work on your core and strectch. I wouldnt move the saddle forward too much. you’ll get more power from the Glutes.

The problem is I guess that tubular wheels are lighter. So I were to get the Planet X :

    http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/WBPX52CCLHBPC/planet_x_52mm_carbon_clincher_wheelset_hand_built_by_paul_curran

Quite heavy by the time you put tyres and inner tubes in.
I guess not much point upgrading my 1400g wheelset with Stans Alpha rims then.

I think it was Njee that used them.

    A slight thread hijack. But…
YMMV I do about 180miles per week NO commuting.
I have currently scwalbe Uteremo ZX that get cut up and need some new tyres.
What’s good out there these days? I won’t do a massive amount during the winter (circa 80 miles per week) and want decent low rolling resistance.

I need some tyres that will last well in to next year.
What are the Conti Force and attack tyres like?

I love seeing how people ride bikes, most don’t fit them!
It should be compulsory to get a bike fit when buying a bike.

Thats rubbish – are they not the same lowers? Why would racing make a difference.
Racing I’d say is more technical and fast paced than mincing. The only difference is jumping. Which I wouldn’t do with Rebas in any case.

I did a 2.5 mile sprint yesterday and got the KOM. **** me it was hard avg hr avg 175.
Without Strava I would of rode the same route but it made it fun trying to get the fastest.

    I love Strava.

Juan – “Strava day” you taking the piss? Troll? Get a life.

I found today that riding with SIDs with QR slowed me down on 2 Cwmcarn laps by 5% compared with Maxle.

Must put the MBR etall magazine down before I buy a camelbak! Or the latest craze.

In all seriousness I’m sure there not the stiffest but they won’t slow you down.

It’s a bit nice for a winter bike, are you the type to have a different bike every season? I know what you mean as you’ve probably got a all singing race bike – why not call this one your everyday training bike? ‘winter bike’ sounds so… Snobby.

Anyway nice bike – the bar tape won’t hold up to the wet if it is actually being used in the winter. Ver comfortable but useles when wet. Mine expanded and soaked all the water up and unraveled. Worst bar tape I’ve ever used.

These look looooong in the top tube area, no? Those saddles are slammed forward on the rails, not cool.

Yep I was thinking that aswell. I would say they bought a bike to large for them.

I dont think thats the point Trimix. is a home made bike with hours spent on it.

‘purhaps’ there is an element of luck though – to do 20 hours with no mechanicals would be a fluke.
To be honest I’ve done my fair share of endurance this year – notably 5th in Torq 12:12 and then this.

I’ll probably do a few big rides next year on the road bike but as baby on the way it might all take a backseat.

    Cheers DrP you too!

As for single speed, my mae was riding a swift and we found that he could of gone a lot faster on the descents and the flat sections – potentially getting a faster time. Hey ho need sleep.

Nice write up. Saves me from doing the same.

Two Of us did it yesterday starting in Winchester to Eastbourne. 81/2 hours riding 10 hours in total.
Puncture and a faulty camelbak bladder & GATES meant too much faffing.
    Awesome day out.

Couldnt sleep last night am I’m shattered now. What the ell am I browsing stw for!?

Bought this to replace a RD 5600 , however it is not compatable with 5600 STI shifters.

I think im going to bung it in the LBS tomorrow.
Got a busy day and weekend and just want it sorted.

Cheers for all the replys – Well The limit stops are setup correctly, Gear changes are still not quite right though. Went out for a ride this evening.

    Its ridable but not perfect.

The only way of describing what the probem is that when the chain is on the 11 tooth sprocket and I click up one gear the mech does not move. only on the second click then all the gears work. It goes down to the 11 tooth perfectly but not up.

    The cable is tight.

    I’ll have another look tommorrow.
