I did All the DH runs at Morzine on my Cove stiffee, 150mm travel. It was good at first but then after the 3rd day I was after a FS. – Hands and arms rattled to bits.
Got he Santacruz Driver 8. Worlds apart!

Was good to ride both though.

    Basically, ask yourself this:

    1. Do you have the budget to get the carbon which in all intents is the same bike for a few grams?

    2. Are you worried about impact carbon strength and scratches chips?

If it’s yes to the first and no to the second get the Carbon.
God i need to put laptop down.

    Cheers.

My Evo comes with a double crank (XO carbon). My bike is the same as the other 2011 epics, so the geo is the same. Aka race oriented. However it has beefier tyres and a command post, which is awesome!

The Epic is definitely light enough for all day rides – It’s an XC / trail bike. For me personally, I have purchased some new tyres to lighten it a little for some planned racing next year. All in all a very capable machine.

I would have to agree, you really need to try them. imo the Epic is better, I wouldn’t get the Carbon, I didn’t see the benefits… I tried both.
Plus I have always had a worry about carbon. The first ride on the Epic I was riding down a steep rocky gully, A large rock the size of a tennis ball smashed in to the down tube.

At the end of the day get your comfortable on.

edit – wow that reads like a pile of poo. to tired to change it.

Id always say go for the Epic. The Brain is great. (if your an educated person and have the ability to set it up) 🙄
Ive ridden the 2010 ex 8 and didnt rate it compared to the Epic. But then I am slightly biased.

They have contours and enough detial to find your way. Also I use ‘Map Source’ to plan routes, courses etc.

    Very good peice of kit.

I didn’t have to provide any receipts to Wheelies. I sent them a excel spread sheet and they essentially took my word for it. 4k later I have a 3k bike and many extras. I don’t have 1 complaint with M&S or wheelies.

    Firestarter – your opinion.
I wouldnt touch a turner (5 spot) if you gave it to me. – my opinion.

But lets keep this on subject.

I used M&S recently. I used Wheelies and got a Specialized Epic Evo 2011. They also said that I was not allowed Cash. But then Again if your bike was stolen you ‘should’ replace it with a bike to the same value. I don’t see an issue. Wheelies seemed to have a large enough range.

edit – I realise that you had a lot of other stuff go missing. Well my experience still holds true in the bike department. Anyway – the Epic is, well…. Epic.
