Thought I’d chime in – same issue. I have a Specialized Epic HT 2020, Power2max boost with a SRAM GX DUB crank and 36t Absolute Black chainring. Loads of clearance on the frame.
The chain line is awful on the largest cogs and I recon why I’m going through chains every 2000km

I’ve just replaced the bottom bracket with a Nukeproof bsa BB. 73mm shell so only using the 4.5mm spacer on the drive side.

I’ve just put 1mm chainring spacers to move the chainring towards the frame. Helped but not much.

    Any other ideas?

Either the chainring isn’t offset enough
Or that 4.5mm spacer is moving the driveside out too much. But looks centered. ??

    Thanks for Suggestions:

The next few days bit is all about this:

I have a 4.5k road bike – Its getting shitty. I have 1k for a winter road bike but may do a little bit of off road. will race it etc.

    I’m looking at this : http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/bike/rose-pro-dx-cross-3000-2014/aid:692362

    Over budget but great spec!

    BOA… I’m in Staverton.

I regularly go towards Corsham using the lanes then up to Biddiston round CastleCombe and back.

The lanes are nice smooth roads with no traffic.

I had Diamante Pro 2’s which frankly were dangerous.
I’m racing & training on continential Attack 2 and Force 2’s.

    Germany bike 24.

Best tyres I’ve tried. Ultremo 2013 are slightly better than the 2012 ZX but only for the circuit as got cut upper try quickly.

Upgrade to the Van Nicholas. Thanks to British cycling insurance, no thanks to a car driver and a Van. – Slightly injured but didn’t keep me off the bike.

As a previous thread I started about wheels for a grand. well I had to purchase (no choice) some from the LBS and these are absolutely lush. FastForward F4r 40mm. Stiff, DT 240s ceramic hubs. Slightly heavy @ 1600g but its a ti bike and I have not noticed a difference, even on the hills.

I have even lowered the stem and liking the position.

Fulcrum Racing 1’s for sale btw which have done approx 280miles – 2 weeks riding. They are selling new @ £580 – will except offers.

Wheels I had in Mallorca were American Classic aero 420’s but had to replace them as had a crash 2 weeks ago.

As for glueing stuff back on, what’s the thread, link? That’ll be a laugh.

8000 miles! How come you get to ride so much?

Do you work, are you single, are you independently wealthy, do you have other commitments?

It’s serious question and in no way romantically inclined.

    Married & a 6 month boy. No commuting either – 5 rides a week.

Wife is very understanding! and My job is quite flexible. – IT consultant. <- HAH obviously aren’t most people on here?

Went out today for 50 miles but working for an hour tonight. I do it because Im training for races, Do Crit racing and endurance mtb races. Ive got Bonty 24/12 booked and Torq 1212. Mind you I’m never very good at the Crit races.

    FuzzyWuzzy,

I like the compact style of frame geometry , and 3500 miles and counting… I don’t think its the wrong size. Most road seatposts are layback! this one is just a different style.

Chainrings are Rotor Qrings OCP3 to fit the Ultegra chainset.

    I was thinking about http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=82305

3T carbon post, but the ti is nice and for the sake of some people not liking it, I’m not going to change.

Davidtaylforth – Can you post yours so I can critique?

Shoddy work indeed about the fence and decking. Will try harder next time.
What’s wrong with seatpost? I’ve been experimenting with the stack height, it could potentially go lower.

And it’s super fast and very stable. Only slight issue is because its a very ‘compact fit’ there is some toe over lap.
    But perfect other then that.

The bike seems to encourage out of saddle climbing

So it cant climb then. I’m guessing it steers like a boat due to its head angle and long forks, much like my 456, I run mine with 100mm.

Just before anyone else says – not the best place imho etc etc. I’m doing it to climb. Not to speed along the flat at 25mph.

Hah yeah I full well know about the climbing.

Either Puig Major or Col de Soller. Going to be epic.

I have a long route towards Deia and Antratx which is alittle more mellow.

I remember putting a new motor in my hotshot. Called a green machine. First drove it and it must of gone 30mph down the road. – awesome times.

I’d say the most obvious thing is too much pressure in the tyres. 30-40psi. Wow.
