Any camera can be simple if in auto mode, compose and click. The more difficult bit IMO Is downloading the pics, and viewing them somewhere. So I like the instant camera idea. Plus the iPhone, as the pics appear in the gallery automatically. My mum buys those disposable film cameras for her hols.

Wife is very pleased with her Withings ScanWatch Light. She wanted something to track steps, activities and sleep, but didn’t want a full-blown watch with a screen, so the hybrid is just the job. We already had a Withings smart scale, so she was already used to the software.

So the person who it’s widely reported first tweeted the fake details about the Southport killer has been arrested today. Wonder where the police are going with this? Trying to get to the person who fabricated the information and establish what the motive was?

If they get access to her devices and communications, this may pull in the web of folks on X who’s job seems to be spreading disinfo and I assume earning money from the views.

I thought his point was that GCHQ doesn’t need to break any encryption, they can just create an account, log onto the groups, and sit there taking notes.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. Lots of people seem to think they are hidden, as they are arranging all their meet-ups on Telegram. But anybody can join those groups, nobody checks who you are. Journalists at The Times are members of some of them and are highlighting the plans for this evening, for example.

Guess the only more difficult bit is linking the online account with a real person.

I see the Birmingham pub has thanked the representatives from the Mosque for their apologies and offer to pay for the broken windows.

That, I think, in this environment, feels an ill-thought comment.

Agreed, apols. My take was a business putting that video online was ill-thought out. I was impressed with the IHG restraint, just saying the safety of their customers and guests was paramount and urging calm in today’s statement.

may even have been the original shoe-er

It was. He was shielded from the rest of the group by the original person who confronted him.

Didn’t stop the usual suspects spreading misinfo that the guy at the pub had been killed. They’ll jump on anything and the lie does its job long before any police statement comes out.

If the knowledge that many, many more will turn up to challenge fascism deters the scum from gathering, then that in itself is a success.

There was some aggro last night, though, which IMO isn’t a success and gives the idiots material to put on social media. CCTV of the assault at the pub was very quickly circulating – which in itself hints at which side of this the pub owner is on.

Birmingham looked quite intimidating last night, with videos showing zero police attendance, which of course plays into the two-tier policing stuff. One assault and damage reported by West Mids police.

Pretty sure telegram isnt end to end encrypted, the poor little flowers.

Pretty irrelevant anyway isn’t it, ‘cos you can set up a dummy account, join the group and monitor what is going on anyway.

    I didn’t imagine it…

‘Andrew Tate, the controversial influencer, amplified the false narrative, saying that the attacker was an “illegal migrant”.’

To be fair, and as much as it pains me, I’m not aware of Tate being a racist or anti immigrant.

I thought he was one of the accounts RTing the killer came over on a boat lie last week – think I saw that on a news channel deep dive into the social media response to the killings (possibly Sky).

How does a person like him with a criminal record as long as your arm get approved for residency anywhere? Thinking about it, how does he fly to the States?

Just catching up on this thread. With the court appearance a few pages back where a bloke denied having taken part in a riot (but pleaded guilty, weirdly) is it true that under riot law, attendance is illegal? Doesn’t matter if you are throwing fenceposts at police, or standing there with your mates filming it on your phone?

    It’s going to be thousands.

Sat in hospital at mo, gastroscopy. Five NHS folks looking after me. All fantastic, all the people the idiots are rioting against.

Working hard on a Sunday morning. Wonder what the rioters are doing this morning?

CNN News 18 seems to have decided to platform Tommy R today. Owned by Discovery/Warner. Wonder what’s going on there? Indian news channel but the host is a Canadian, Erza Levant.

Guess it’s a bit like Sky News Australia/Sky News UK. Very different.

Yes, the EDL was disbanded 10 years ago seems to be the standard message being pushed everywhere on social at the moment.

Yet, they seem to have a website and you can pay to become a member. Could be a scam website I guess.

It’s hot, sunny, they’ve been drinking since noon, busy checking their phones…What else is there to do?

Getting worked up about asylum seekers in 5-star hotels and being given brand new iPhones no doubt, then protesting at the Holiday Inn, Newton Heath.

Apparently, a GB News presenter is there and was rugby-tackled by the police.

Has it……. I thought they refused to confirm everything beyond that he was born in the UK?

By the BBC I meant. Yes, I assume the info is from people who know them.

‘The BBC understands the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, moved to the Southport area in 2013. His parents are from Rwanda and he has an older brother also born in Cardiff.’

curious as to the provenance of her ‘facts’

Where his parents migrated from has been confirmed, that’s all. His nationality could be British if they have settled status.

When that ‘news’ website popped up yesterday with the false info, and all the links to it were all over X and Facebook, whois showed it as being registered near Boston, US. The organisation info was all redacted.

But yes, an investigation should be able to uncover who was behind it. Someone paid for the domain and hosting.

I notice that the Daily Mail appears to have disabled their comments section.

They’ve all moved to the GB News and Talk TV chat forums. This seems to be the new business model for those channels, attract outraged patriots to your website (and serve them lots of ads I assume).

Makes sense now. I spotted at the vigil coverage on the news that Tommy Robinson’s cameraman mate was there. So they’ve obviously travelled up from London.

    I’d have thought so…

Kinda felt like sending it up the inside in F1, but I guess there were two alternate routes and Koretzky should have been covering that.

I subscribed via Amazon Prime TV app

Ah, missed that. Too late, did it via the website and you can’t link that back into Prime it seems. No worries, I can cast.

No you’re right £3.99 – still cheap enough for wall to wall Olympics.  Just went on Discovery+ website and signed up

Thanks for this, it still showed the normal price on the Android app, £6.99. Shame I don’t have a Discovery app on the big TV, but guess I can cast it.

Useful info here. I was born with one, had an op when I was a newborn. Uncontrollable coughing with Covid and now some other bug I’ve had recently has taken its toll. Will need to see the doc I think.

if Falcon fails after channel update, roll back that channel update, reboot, and you are back

Once you’ve caused the memory exception and blue-screened, don’t think you can then have a script do something else.

    Jamze

A config file change that blue-screens the device and puts it in a boot-loop obviously would never get through CrowdStrike’s testing, so IMO something has gone drastically wrong with the deployment process. Either what was distributed was not the intended update, file got corrupted somehow, human error etc.

Interesting, I was absolutely oblivious to any of this happening

I realised how big an issue this is when I went to the doctor’s yesterday morning. Staff working from slips of paper with patients’ names and DOB on, no access to medical history, couldn’t prescribe or raise a referral. Basically, all they could do was have a chat and a physical examination with no follow-up.

The link to medical records is still down 24 hours later. Guessing they have a massive data validation job on their hands now, it’s not as simple as getting a few BSOD Windows boxes going again.

I have something, but not Covid according to the test I did yesterday. On day six now and it’s a PITA.

Uncontrollable cough, nose and sinuses are fine but coughing up loads of clear or slightly yellow stuff. On the worst night I woke up and my airway was almost blocked, which freaked me out, I couldn’t catch my breath until I’d coughed it all up. Hardly slept for a week.

Reform starting to argue among themselves already

Lee Anderson is going to be busy as chief whip then. Don’t they have to understand every piece of legislation coming through the house so they can advise the party on voting? Can’t imagine he has a big team either.

Also – are Reform what they appear to be, or sock puppets…….

I did wonder about this. Our candidate did exist, he was caught up in some of the bad press over Facebook links to New British Union and other unsavoury posts. Had visits from all the parties, all happy to chat and seemed clued up on local issues but no Reform leaflets or visits. Still got almost 12% of the vote somehow.

13 Reform UK MPs if true is a disaster imo

Going to be very interesting to see how accurately the exit poll people have modelled a brand new party.

Just seen something on the internets that suggests that Lab bought up all the advertising space they could get their hands on when they saw the betting markets shift towards a GE on 04 Jul.

Sopel mentioned this I think. Someone in the Labour campaign said they were baffled, because usually the government has a huge advantage as they know the date before they announce, so they buy up all the ad space the week before the election. But Conservatives didn’t do it, so Labour bought it all. General feeling was that Sunak surprised even his own party.
