    thanks dutch.
i’m 5’8″ and a bit and looking at a medium i reckon. and that’s still a bit short for some folk, but that’s how i like it.

thanks mike, i’ve seen two LTs with straight steerer so far, for 400.
not the end of the world. my forks are straight steere and not planning on replacing any time soon.
seems not a bad option being on a budget as grease ports promise longevity.
was previous ower who messed-up bearing seats in the pitch tho, i’d be more on the case.
so with 150 fork could be nice too?

Lester, is AFR not 177m travel? and horst link?
thought i was looking for non-horst 140 ish. unless it’s a diff one from the one o found googling?

    ok great, thanks simon.
i’m same weight as you so sounds safe enough bet.
    i think i bought it’s original wheels : )

sure, i kinda agree, but i’m only considering cos i think it will be ok, can get a tune later, and is nice and cheap!

    thanks docrobster
not wallowy mine. have read about that but bottom out never a problem.
i guess i could reduce volume and the air pressure to see what it feels like. It’s achly a bit harsh, tho still not bad.
Already pushed, and then later tuned by loco.

anyway, to cut a long story short, i just fancy giving coil a go

ok, looks like a firm comp tune from bikeradar review
but reviewer suggests changing to a “more open and fluid tune to maximise plushness” so mid comptune could be fine?

as for rebound tune, more research

this is great, i’m having a discussion with myself : )

great alex, do that. i’ve got a 15ish km loop from my house, plenty parking room. aside form that i’d love to get a bit further afeild, but when it comes to it i always opt for what i know cos it’s good!

be great if i could tag along for other rides tho. how did you plan your routes? following gps things?

oh yeah, that looks more like it!

ok, just done a bit of research

alpe d’huez is where the mega avalanche is! duh!

but only the chamrousse is still open this month.
oh well, otherwise maybe i’ll have to achly do some climbing…

I do accept that cable housing is consumable, thought i’d made tha obvious!
i do buy stainless cables. and i do know when housing needs replacing and have some good cable cutters!

thanks TINAS and querty, i’ll google those products.

i haven’t found eg jagwire coated cable to be better than stainless thb.

    Smugness alert, i live there/here
    just beside Aubenas.
i’ve got an amazing little network of trails just on my doorstep; never get any further away than that! tho i’m now reminded that i should!

anyone’s coming to the area give me a shout and i’ll take you round.

can find that too at mountainbikes . net , so i guess i can choose older blackbox (is dual flow), or newer simply called dual flow.
apparently it’s better and seemingly cheaper!

turns out was just a stuck starter motor, as expected.
pulled it off, took it apart, brushes pretty worn, lubricated/cleaned in appropriate places, bunged it back on and jobsagoodun!
need to replace the brushes ideally, but turning nice and powerfully now.

well thanks all, you’ve all mostly diagnosed what i’d already diagnosed…

i’ve had it with a big booster starter and nope. alternator’s new and battery in good nick anyways.
tapped with hammer and nope. so gonna chack and clean up all contacts; motor and earth strap and try a bit of rocking in gear to see if something’s stuck

i think it might be time for some CVs from the respective contributors.
i know one’s, and i was very inclined to listen to him as a result, but he’s gone quiet, probably wisely. so, come-on, cheekyboy, funkynick, mc, therapy69 et al. what makes you so qualified? (tho i obviously agree with some of you, and not others…)
except me cos i know shit-all apart from what i’ve learned on this thread, very informative thanks, and what dual-voltage motors are, in this sense anyway :D

aye no worries there. currnet is as it should be (i think), showing between 2 and 5 amps depending what i’m asking of it, and all via it’s own 16amp RCD with nice big cables.

good, thought you must be out riding!
i was glued to the TdF…
but yep, i’m in agreement about phase to neutral voltage obviously, that’s what i meant to imply.

but i have to just disagree that my “motor is running on a reduced voltage from its design voltage” and ” motor is designed for 380v in delta”

it’s designd to run on 220v in delta and 380v in star.that’s what a dual voltage motor means in this case. and i’m not arguing about that anymore!!!
    so there!!! :)
