Jamie, I can’t see the pics

The pics show it with a smattering of snow and looking very cold
The temp has fallen significantly this week though so no doubt there will be ice and firm ground. Saying, that the forecast is the warm up tomorrow

Can you view the pics in this strava activity? Pals were there Sunday – a smattering but that’s all. Very cold though

http://www.rocketski.com seem to be the new place to get cheap but basic winter holidays. Are they too basic though? If so, I either DIY or do the painful trawl through Inghams, Neilsons and the like. The latter can sometimes be cheaper than DIY

If your gf is happy, you are happy. This goes double with winter holidays, and goes triple if it is a winter holiday and the gf is inexperienced ….

    How much is that worth?

doubt it will be posted on the other thread, which seems to be bike stuff. I’ve just hammered Neil’s Yard, which has 20% off today, for various creams and potions for my Mum

I have since upgraded to the Tacx T2240

What is the noise like? I need something quiet, lifting in a flat. I might have to go for the Vortex with electro resistance

Same phone, same issue. It is a joke, hate the phone. I regularly run Ccleaner, which does the trick. But because many Apps can’t be run from the SD card, I have the absolute minimum number of Apps

Yeah, lots complaining that it isn’t nearly as loud as the video originally on kickstarter. The small ones and Ti ones seem to be the worst.

See this message on the kickstarter page

    Hi Backers,

    Thanks for your comments.

If you are a backer who hasn’t received any recent email communications then an email will be sent out to you later today with an update. This includes anybody who placed a preorder after the campaign closed. Please also check your inboxes and junk folders as some tracking emails have been sent out over the past few days.

If you have received your bell but it is not performing as it should then please either send us through a direct message with a link to your video (via Google Drives, iCloud, Dropbox etc.) or email support@backerkit.com and attach the video file. We will then get on to these straight away and organise for a replacement bell to be sent if needs be.

Furthermore, if possible hiccups in the pick, pack & send process have left you with the wrong order then please contact support@backerkit.com and we’ll fix this up for you.

@Adrian R: You should have been sent your tracking details on October 17. IF you can’t find them then please send us a DM and we’ll message these through to you.

@Norvern Munky: We’ll look into this for you and see why you haven’t received any tracking info.

    Thank you.

I’ve had Crosslight V3 for 2 years and my nips are fine, riding road and CX on them. Prices have jumped with the V4.

These look good for the money

(Why is it that some people, if confronted with an opinion that offends them, can only see it as trolling? Narrow mindedness?)

because instead of making a lazy link to an irrelevant video, implying that Decathlon used unethical down, I actually looked up their policy. Ergo, trolling. Nothing to do with not agreeing with different opinions

it can’t see the video being at work but can guess the content. Are you actually aware of Decathlons ethics on sourcing down or just pointlessly trolling?

I have this route planned for late spring next year. Using suggestions from scotroutes and others, miss the East coast out and include minor detours from the ‘official’ route on the West to do the best bits (such as wee mad road of Inverpolly). Ends up at 405 miles

    Question #2:
if you had £40k mortgage left and wanted to buy a second flat at around £300k to be an evil landlord), would you spend the £100k you had in savings by

    1. clearing the current mortgage. Would you still be able to use the 1st flat for collateral and get a good 65% mortgage on a 2nd?

    2. putting the £100k on a deposit and so have two mortgages, the current £40k one and a 2nd for £200k?

    Asking for a friend.

edit: I my friend has no kids to send to Uni

Crashtestmonkey, that’s really good to know. I was considering upgrading to 1x after buying the bike thought a clutch mech was a must.

As to why I want 1x, I love the simplicity and just don’t need two chainring. After running 1×11 for 18 months I can’t go back to front derailers.

I recently ditched the front mech. £15 superstar narrow/wide and the existing Rival 22 rear mech, no clutch. I’ve been giving it a good go but it all feels solid. Actually the chain messing with the chainring feels more solid than with a front mech

yes, the torx adjustment is what I preferred after a few teeth started breaking off the red disc. That is fine up until when the torx head gets chewed because the metal is soft or the whole screw mechanism seizes

IIRC the gap between plates is the same as the number of gears goes up, it’s the plate thickness that reduces.

That is incorrect, it is the distance between the plates that changes; the plates themselves are already as thin as they can be for the given material and application.

Are you sure about this? Hasn’t the inner width remained the same but the outer width (ie the width of the plates / pin length) narrowed?

Their system was overwhelmed with the sale and accepted significant orders that couldn’t be fulfilled. I have read various forums where unfulfilled customers are being ignored. Email and also leave a voicemail message and then cancel your payment with the bank

    – walk up Calton Hill for the views (free)
    – dodge around the network of Genals off of the Royal Mile and then visit Mary Kings Close (after booking it online first as it gets busy) (dunno, >£10 maybe)
    – Chambers Street museum (free)

it isn’t quite as thick as the Club LS jersey, by a touch. I think it is ideal for what you say it would be needed for, beefed up with a base layer for colder days. But it isn’t a winter jersey

Consider the Shimano 105 R517 or even CX77 callipers. I’ve the cheaper 105 after my BB7 inner adjust screw seized (it is prone to). Feeling is the same as BB7 but the adjustment is much nicer and tolerant to grime

Ta. It is medium cage. Went up to 32T fine with a Compact double.

Chainring is in the normal outer double position. Could maybe put it inside the crank instead.

    All was fine with
32 cassette and 34/50 double or
28 cassette and 40T single (different sized chains, of course).
Not fine with 32 cassette and 38T single – mech not going all the way to the big sproket

Doubt it is so helpful, but I’m 5’8″ and I have a XLS (10cm stem) and a RTD-90 (9cm stem) both in Small, which is perfect.

But the potentially less helpful bit it is I always prefer a slightly smaller bike rather than slightly bigger
