Completed. However, your University Research Ethics Committee will take a dim view of research participants not being offered the opportunity to see the results once available, which is a requirement

For the first time, I worked out how to enter a race last night. Dropped at the start and so gruppettoed around – didn’t realise you need to be pushing +400w 5 seconds BEFORE the start rather than a standing start. Utterly, utterly bizarre that Zwift doesn’t require a standing start

I fancy a couple of them, the Moors & Shores one and Peak District Pioneer, anyone done either?

Yes, PDP. It was good fun. A few testing hills. A fair bit of road sections so up the tyre pressure from normal CX pressure. Perfectly possible and quieter just to follow the route on another day

I did a gravel one last year. Very well planned, sign-posted, great feed stations.

What took the shine off was I rode the identical route the day before to reccy it, for free, with less traffic to wade through.

If you do want a sportive, they are probably the ones to go for. Honestly, now I just steal their gpx as the routes are good if you don’t know the area

Would the Tesa tape be OK for road pressures?

I dont think the yoga thing has a keyboard.

It does. It is a laptop with a rotating touchscreen to also use as a tablet

Thanks, mrbobby, helpful. I am riding hard-ish but just tempo, not trying to smash out a 20min test. I didn’t want to do another test, after nearly throwing, but I might have to…

Yeah, I’d already clicked close when the FTP message appeared.

How can it calculate FTP if I only ever go on the mountain courses? I thought the test was 20 mins on flat.

My w/kg when climbing if typically around 3.5 – 3.8 and never falls below 3.2, so that update to increase my FTP to 220 might not be too odd (3.5*59kg = 206; 3.8*59kg = 224)

A 20min FTP test only put me at a poor 201 watts but only weighing 59kg put my w/kg at around 3.4

When/how does Zwift update your average watts? Yesterday I noticed that I was at 220 watts, which I certainly didn’t input and haven’t done another test. I do remember something about my FTP flashing on screen last week but I didn’t pay attention. Or could 220 be the default? Thanks

consider this cheaper softshell from Evans. Very cheap if you have Clubcard points to Boost. I use it for CX when I don’t want to risk my Gabbas/Raphas. But it is good kit in itself. There are reviews around for you to check it out

Whatever you have that isn’t flappy. Rapha has a sale currently…

It will save your data – I joined 2 days ago after a trial.

I was about 10secs from a spew after the FTP test

Local fitters. Don’t use Safestyle else they’ll still be contacting you 6 years later to sell you conservatories despite living in a flat. And they aren’t actually cheap despite their “one time only, don’t delay, special discounts”

How on earth does one draft?!!
A new User, I have two scenarios:
    1. Utterly beast myself but still can’t close the gap, watch them cruise into the distance
    2. Ease up to coast in behind but end up still just smashing passed people going too slow

A 20min FTP test only put me at a poor 201 watts but only weighing 59kg put my w/kg at around 3.4

a proper turbo tyre, pumped to 110psi, helps with the noise too. Halfords have one for £10 (£9 with BC discount)

I found 42cm bars too narrow when I first started, coming from wide-bar MTB. 18months in, I’ve now gone the other way and am now thinking I need 40cm.

42cm is too narrow for your size anyway.

Those flared drops are probably way too flared for road. There might be frowned upon in my Club for the same reason that flat-bar bikes aren’t allowed – risk of getting hooked up when in a tight group. Some normal compact or ergo bars do have a slight flare (4-7 degrees), which could be suitable

decided to go for C&H option on Sunday night in the end? Sounds like quite a session

I was worried about noise, living in a flat. It is very quiet, equivalent to a fan. Actually more from the drivechain

Garmin Vivoactive HR. Not the cheapest – depends on what she’ll use it for. expensive if she just wants an activity tracker. I use mine for training while cycling

I’m considering some wetsuit booty socks from lomo £8
    https://www.ewetsuits.com/acatalog/neoprene-socks-wetsuit.html

I’ll be testing them for the first time this weekend. I tried them on in store and the size was very small. They are like very rigid, thick socks

The FTP value in the profile is a default, there before I did the test. And there is no FTP value on tacx cloud.

Impossible to take an average of the 20 mins – there is no raw data, just charts

edit: I wonder if the issue is the linking of my account, the app and the cloud website

I have a new trainer tyre at 110psi. It is calibrated right in the middle of the spirit level-type markings. I guess I’ll loosen the dial so it is still calibrated within the markings but towards the left

    jamiep

calibrated with the tacx app. Bolt is correct (upper hole, for 700c). The resistance is much higher than I was expecting, and I smash my knuckles when shoving the blue lever into place

    jamiep

I calibrated my new Tacx 2240 last night. The roller is very, very tight pressured against (actually into) the tyre. Is that right? Pushing the lever to get the roller onto the tyre is almost too difficult

Im off to Slovakia again this season. Jasna resort is now the size of a large French one, a big new lift has gone in every 1 or 2 years for the last 8 years. It will be my 5th or 6th time there.
I always stay with Paul at Propoganda, the first Brit to set up there
    http://chaletjasna.co.uk/
Easyjet flights, board bag carriage, airport transfer and accomm will be £420. Lift pass is cheaper than France etc, 1.30e a pint

Edit: their chalets might all already be full
