Here’s the two £5 on-one brackets in my room. One 8″ from the wall, the other 8″ from that.

For commuting, I moved from rucksack to cheap pannier to Ortlied pannier. I think the latter is well worth the extra money over others for long-lasting quality. Spa were the cheapest shop

Thanks everyone. I am not expecting the best job from them for £30, hence me wondering what I can do to mitigate

Yeah, I was gonna remove them, degrease them and the frame and pop them back

So don’t leave the BB, headset and bolts in? I’m conserned they will nack these areas if they are careless with the blasting. There was a thread last week about a loose headset due to this. Or maybe I should remove everything and just tell them where to be extra careful

IMO it isn’t ‘tough’ at all, just scrambling about in the mud. Did the one in November. The obstacles aren’t difficult if you can manage the distance, but the freezing temp (around 1 degree) at that time was miserable.

The only harsh thing was the last obsticle, which was running through live wires of varying sttrength – I blacked out, utterly incopasitated, upon hitting one and was literally thrown to the floor where I came round by having my face smack into the floor. Something like this guy

I live at Tollcross and go the (tried and tested over 5 years) FASTEST (NOT SAFEST) route: Fountain Bridge, Dundee St, Henderson Ter, Gorgie Rd, right onto Fords Rd next to Saughton Park and cross Water of Leigh, Stenhouse Ave, left onto Stenhouse Drive, right at the roundabout, follow the cycle path along Stenhouse Dr / Broomhouse Dr

This post is just cos I’m bored , killing time on the cold hard floor of Geneva airport.

Noon flight delayed 2 hours, 90 mins circling above Geneva because it closed while we were in the air, then redirected to Basal (top of switzerland, Geneva is in the south), waiting in plane at airport 90 mins, off, waiting for bags for hour, then jumped on a bus to Geneva airport 3-4 hts awayI justmissed the Geneva airport info desk staying open, about 00:30. Ie, don’t now where to get a hotel. Heard a fella on the phone saying there wereno available rooms anyway. Queue for taxi was immense, airport is pepper mental witheveryone missing flights/transfers to resort. No minibuses going my way tonight. I’ve found a socket to charge the phone and am hunkering down for the night, like loads of people. There is a train to Tignes in the morning 10:00. Nighty night

Ps, geneva and surrounding airports are likely to be busy tomorrow

NHS have a duty to investigate and respond to every complaint received. This process is transparent. And there is a process for the complainant to escalate if they are not happy for with the response.
    http://www.nhs.uk/choiceintheNHS/Rightsandpledges/complaints/Pages/NHScomplaints.aspx
However, this process does not in any way guarantee that any compensation is due for complaints that are upheld.

+15 -15 and as wide as possible/confortable (you can find a ‘tipping point’ where you feel too wide and then bring it back in a notch). On any Board I ride (currently a twin-tip rocker).

The Go Snowboard book/DVD is defo worth getting

Going to Tignes the weekend after.

ANy recommendations for off-piste at Tignes / Espace Killy? I have been snowboarding for ~12 years so most routes shouldn’t be a problem. I have found this website

What position does one put the lever and hose at in order to swap the hoses without requiring bleeding? I’m assuming that one holds the lever with the hole for the hose pointing upwards and quickly pull out the hose and then flip the hose end before the oil leaks (?) Ta

Here you go,phaart lights, a fiver, and as good as anything

They are fantastic for the money, equally as good as my half watt smart one.

    POSTED 6 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

On-one’s dual 0.5 watt copies of Smart’s are excellent for the (very little) money. Very, very nearly as bright. I went back and stocked up on a few more. Their copy of the Smart R1 isn’t as good/bright and has a limited cycle of the LEDs

Schwalbe City Jet, the affordable alternative to Schwalbe Marathon Plus (which I would buy if I wasn’t so thrifty). They dont seem to wear down. I go 1.95 front, 1.5 rear

edit: just notice the grippy requirement. These are ok but terrible on wet ironworks

Actually, I’d get off the cycle path earlier just after Craigleith (near South Groathill Ave on google maps) and go:
Queensferry Road / over Dean bridge / Queensferry Street until just before the end (the end is now one way going the other way due to the tram works) / Randolph Place / cycle path by the side of the Register House and onto Charlotte Square / clockwise around Charlotte Square (it is one way) / depending where near the royal mile you are heading, then either go along Princes Street and up The Mound or go up Lothian Road, left at King’s Stable Road towards Grassmarket

There is a cycle route direct from SQ into town. I’d go straight through to Roseburn/Dalry. It is then the final mile and a bit in the city centre that will just need to be worked out. That bit is tricky at the mo because you hit the tram works at Haymarket. Can you buy the Spokes map online? About £6. It is route 1

After seeing Home Alone a few months ago, my 6yo godson has

    – phoned 999 because Macaulay Culkin did to get a pizza faster
    – blocked the bathroom taps and flooded it because that was the calling card of the ‘Wet Bandits’

The BB holder is too small and so I hacked a bit off it. The hook to hold the downtube doesn’t inspire 100% confidence. Had a bike slip out of the BB holder and so ziptied around the BB as well as the hook

Could you have had two issues, ramped chairing AND 1/8 chain? You only solved the former. Try 3/32 rather than 1/8?

    Three separate orders:
    1. 10spd slx cassette
    2. two slx chains
    3. slx rear mech
They’ll go nicely with the CRC slx shifters. Oh, and the CRC deore brakes. Ka-boom

That made me scratch my head due to the fact I’ll only have one ring up front, but I got there once I realised it is about maximum required capacity. For 10*1, go as short as possible.

capacity required = (big front ring – small front ring) + (big rear cog – small rear cog)

    (40 – 40) + (36 – 11)
    is 0 + 25 = 25

thanks for taking the time to reply……off to hit up Evans
