weekends are not for baking. I should know, I’m a Baker.

Ahh, that’s why I don’t sit in front of the laptop at the weekend wasting away the hours as I do at, err, ‘work’ during the week!

Mark and Lard was the worst bit of the Radio 1 Schedule back when I was in sixth form

Was that the graveyard slot, the afternoon show or the breakfast show? All very different beasts.

Give riding at night a try, I rode 18 miles to the pub and back last night. It gives a different dimension to it, I felt it ‘flowed’ more and I was able to keep a more constant cadence.

Average speed wasn’t too much different (considering I’d commuted 12 miles earlier and had 3 pints and a gert big dinner in the pub!)- 18.6 going out and 17.7 coming home. I’d recommend a decent light tho, a commuter light with half dead batteries doesn’t quite cut the mustard!

We brought a load of Lightwave T20 trail xt tents for our Explorer Unit 3 years ago and they’ve took all that a bunch of teenagers can throw at them! The bags have all but disintegrated, am waiting for AlpKit to get some more stuff sacks in for them.

Fire a few kids out, then you’ll be grateful even for a road ride on a rainy day

Aye! Tis the only riding I get in now-a-days, easy to fit in a ride and meet the wife and little ‘un somewhere for a family outing.

you need to find the better routes either by joining a club

Or if that doesn’t appeal, have a look at local clubs’ websites- mine has all it’s club run routes listed with bikeroutetoaster links.

They’ll always be bubbles and those bubbles will always burst, in the long term (30 years +) I’m happy to believe in property being a sound pension option. In the meantime we’re still paying a mortgage at a rate we fixed in 2006 for 8 years. Probably not our best move in hindsight…

We had a paramedic come to teach first aid to our Explorer Scout Unit last night and he said he went out to a 41 year old regular runner who dropped with a heart attack on Monday. They saved him, so that’s good.

Not forgetting the nicely thick bean yip.

I ride a singlespeed commuter, sans facial hair. When I was without employment for a few months I grew a beard, but wasn’t riding the singlespeed. Make of that what you will!

I went to a have a look round a farmer’s barn in a previous job. He’d been having trouble with pikies so rigged up a trip wire connected to an emptied shotgun cartridge.

Unfortunately he declined to disarm it before we went into the barn. Bloody hell, I’d have won the Olympic high jump that morning!

Damn, just had a call from the store- they’ve only just put the last orange chain on a repair bike 🙁

But they do have a white one that they’ll reserve, bonus- will go even better on the black Roadrat 😀 It might mean I’ll have to actually attempt to keep it clean tho’…

I’ve known people get rid every 3 years after the first MOT. I’m in a similar boat- we’ve got an 11 plate Cee’d and will probably demote it to a 2nd car (after offloading the missus’s Fiesta on to my brother) in a couple of years and run it into the ground.
