I had found the same , mid stroke it would eat through, but at the same time the bike wants to sit quite upright, backing off the rebound and lowering the pressure helps but as you say its difficult to pump the suspension yourself. there is an mbr article as they have a stereo on long term test. they have fitted a slightly longer shock bushing and also slackened the lower bearing load on the 3d link and they say they have improved it , any one tried this ?

the 5 frame amplifies noise which makes it harder to eliminate , my friend had this recently, turned out to be a dry bearing in the free hub

I had one, 2010 model I sold it after a few months never got on with it , I had it for a 2nd bike to compliment my five and it.never had a look in. sizing on the crush was my bug bear I went for a 17.5 as the 19 was to big but the 17.5 turned out to be two short in the top tube unlike my 18″ five , I also found the frame to look cheap and rather dead feeling and never liked the sram gearing also

all rotor bolts are tight, if I turn the bike upside down I can rock the pads back and fourth about 1 mm each side, this creates a small knock, it can’t be felt while riding only when rocking the bike stationary

I did notice the fat alberts ‘skips’ around a little but the trails I’ve been on haven’t been too wet

found the cause its movement of the disc pads, the back pads also do this, is this normal ? never had this with my old hope minis, my brakes are formula rx1

70mm hope 0deg rise. for me the bikes come alive since moving from 90mm. got a knocking noise coming from the front end and not sure what’s causing it , maxles tight, headsets tight, tested for play in forks finger between station and fork brace no movement, arrrrrgggghhh lol , otherwise brilliant bike

I’ve had mine for 6 weeks , lots of.local rides , clent hills etc and the.monkey trail. plus glentress and Inners.last week. enjoying it so far. took me a while to get the rear suspension pressure correct and need to change stem length as the 90mm is way to long but so good so far, has any one had there shock pushed for one of these bikes? I think that would make the suspension even better

just seen the review of the cube stereo team in this months what mountain bike , they say that its not very plush, sits high in its travel and when it does use its travel it blows straight through it , must say this is putting me off a little !

yes I’m selling the old 5 , needs the shock bushings sorted tho but an easy job , last year had a new slx chainset, xt chain and cassette and had the forks serviced. upgraded to hope headset a few years ago along with seat collar, skewers to match .

geordiemick , is it an 18″ you have ? how did you find the top tube length ? that’s my main concern hate anything to short my 18″ with 90mm stem is perfect for me so need to know of the cube is.similar reach wise

cheers for all the feed back guys , pretty positive so far definitely edging towards the cube , really can’t justify the extra cost of the 5 at the mo , and the spec is so much better on the stereo that there’s nothing I would change, thinking that the 18″ would be my size

was wondering on size aswell I’m 6ft 1″ , 32 ” leg ( longer upper body , short legs) and ride an 18″ 5 what’s the top tube length like on the stereos ? would I be an 18″ on the cube aswell ?

stunning geetee, I ride fast I ride slow I ride technical sometimes I don’t, I commute to work 3 days a week then ride clent hills, cannock, bretchfa, afan etc etc.. I’ve also got an orange 5 some say that’s not a good bike for over clent ( not so tech ) but its quick and is pretty efficient climber but its still enjoyable to ride as the geometry suits me down to the ground. from my research the ragley to for a the bill I reckon regardless off riding balls out or not . Ithink that if a bike fits and you enjoy riding it then it doesn’t matter what its original purpose was intended for , see where I coming from guys ?

I.never got on with the crush felt to slow and sluggish to me , frame was proper stiff aswell which I never liked. I tried the 19″ and I found the standover height to high so took a chance and went for the 17.5 but the top tube is just to short even with saddle as far back as it will go and a 90mm stem I’ve just never felt connected with this bike so I’m guessing its a geometry kind of thing hence why I want to change the frame. another option I have is a lynskey ridgeline lt bit again the geometry doesn’t cut it, the large looks like a gate and the standover is too little but top tube is perfect, again the 17″ on the ridgeline has too short a top tube…. the ragley looks the perfect size and geometry to me …
