I took the nitefighter BT 21 and 71 out on their first outing last night along with my ss x2 and a fluxient x3 led unit

The BT 21 is surprisingly broad and has no hot spot, on turbo, I was really impressed.
IMO it’s a much better light than the x2 if you prefer the softer light source.

Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the 71, I found this light very poor, on turbo it’s not much better than the 21 and on low there is barely enough light to reach the ground from the bars.
The on button basically fits like a moulded gromit into the metal work, and I actually pushed it into the casing on one occasion.
The electronics are also pretty bad, I thought the up and down control would be pretty good rather than cycling, but on my unit it’s a bit screwy, sometimes it works and sometimes the up or down button would turn the light off which is not ideal.

For a big handle bar light it’s pretty rubbish and so far for the price the fluxient is by miles the best I have seen (although it is pretty big)

Ok sounds slimier setup to me but I use a ground anchor into concrete, Hasps are useless in most cases, bolt cutters go through them like butter.

They didn’t wake me either (went through two hasps) and I sleep less than 20 foot from the shed.
Bike racks attract attention, my car was parked outside the house when they broke in, i’m also aware of another couple of shed break in’s on the road that also have the same bike carriers.

I cant be arsed to take it off so I tend not to park in front of the house anymore (apologies in advance to my neighbors)

Filtertips caught this on ride sheff FB this week, sorry to hear that I’ll look out over the west side for you.
I’ve had my shed broken into but due to the motorbike level of security hardware I’ve got nothing has ever been nicked.

Just curious as to what level of security you had

You have loads of options there, in the valley alone you should consider putting a loop together around some of these downs.

    Jaggers
    Hollins to Castleton
    Greenlands
    Backtor
    Cavedale
    Potatoe ally
    The beast
    Hag farm
    Etc

Or an easily route would be the Jacobs loop which you could extend by starting in hope.

One thing I would very recommend is to get bolle’s that have both the anti fog and anti scratch coating like on the spider model (which are brilliant) both coatings work really well as opposed to most cycling specific ones I’ve tried

Ok the internet says flying insects tend to hate the below, so pop down the hippy shop pick up a little bottle of each of the below, mix then up, and bam the ultimate anti fly repellant, or a new break through in potpourri
    1, Cloves
    2, lavender
    3. Citrus
    4. Basil
    5. Pine

I really like w minimum short with a good cut no floppy crotch to snag on the seat.
Endura mtr, troy Lee skyline and race face indy are all very good and also have a little stretch.

You just missed the 18 bikes demo day last Sat.
But they do have a Bronson and a solo for demo.

+1 for shimano from de, may not have the stopping power of the ss’s but they last much longer, don’t crumble and most importantly for me they don’t announce your presence on cheeky trails from miles away by squeaking like a banshee

Many thanks for all those that gave so much time and effort into this.
I started this thread 8 months ago with the realisation that this would more than likely be the outcome but it still feels like a big kick in the balls today.

Farewell rushup edge we had some fun times

After trying all the above and finding some of them fall part, some wear far to quickly and almost all squeal very loudly I’ve gone back to shimano, if you shop around you can get them at very decent prices from shops on the continent with the decent exchange rate

where were you riding today? photos on fb looked a bit like the beast?

Do you know anywhere else he rides?

Apparentley the wheels were so unwieldy that it led to a snapped dropper post today also, curse of the 650b

Jon, I’m a member so had seen that one and it’s on my list, basic facilities don’t usually pass with the better half but there is always something wrong isn’t there, graigwen looked perfect but the toilets being 10 mins away up a steep hill put an end on that one.

The one recommended by 64 looks really cool though

Cheers sj looks very nice, if not a little pricey for a pitch (for a family).
    Certainly worth considering though

I would recommend riding from the station to endcliff park (from vg dark peak book out and back rides from sheffield)
Then continue the above route by doing the stanage loop (also in the vg dark peak book) there’s a good few add-ons around houndkirk and blacka moor also

Otherwise get the train from sheff to hope and any of the standard hope valley or Derwent rides

That’s why for me the Pike was a far better cost option.
I was a big Fox fan, but I think they dropped the ball a bit for a few years, and are now playing catch up.
The last set of fox forks I had were brand new 2013 kashima coated 34 floats. They simply do not feel anywhere near as good as Pikes

    This, ha and ha

    + 1 essel

But don’t worry to much about the length in my experience if your shorter than most you need to wear something more fitted.
Singletrack are good and also endura mbr, and some of the royal, sombrio stuff also fits better on me.

Stupid thing with most brands is that length stays the same with size, ie xxxl can be the same length as xs

I Think altura is one of the only brands that actually go down in length with size.
Their 3/4 actually almost fit me

+ 1 for the HH it’s a mix of merino and lifa matterial, for me it’s a 0 and below base layer (with a windproof over).
Can’t rate it enough, I got mine 1/2 price last year.
Anything above 0 and a HH lifa works spot on for me.

I’m been using a beaver on the rear in the peaks since Nov, whilst I think it’s a geat tyre the trends have shredded at an alarming rate.
