I’m also with pedal cover and spoke to then at length about the above clause.
They will not accept a review of the parts by a bike shop either you must have proof of purchase for everything.
If like me you have a bike made of various nice parts I’ve bought over the years I’d be struggling if I ever had to make a claim.

On my way out now to take photos of my locks!!

As reviewed by singletrack track themselves I’m surprised there is not more recommends for vaude moab mid stx, I’ve had mine for 18months now and they are hands down the perfect MTB boot for UK riding IMO.

Bought a pair of troy lee designs sprint youth for my lad when he was around 8 he pretty much wore them all year round for nearly two years.
He’s skinny also so whilst the 24″ waist still actually fits! They got to short and just purchased some Fox defend youth (these are very popular at his MTB club).
Both options are expensive for kids clothes but they will last for ages.
You can also find them on BMX racing FB groups for sale.

I bought my almost 10year old a Vitus 26″ nucleus 26″ which overall is extremely good value for the specification (almost half the price of the nukeproof cub scout and orbea which where also on our watch list).

Yeah understand that LD hence the question to a certain degree.
Mostly will ride Sat which is the 10K run so hopefully not as much closed at GT.

snorkel packed, looks like there is rain and snow forecast for the week so, not going to get any better by the looks of it.
Forestry and land sites (for GT and Inners) note some trails closed at GT over the weekend for the runners but nothing about the weather other than forest drive is closed due to snow and Ice.

There are so many shops selling these how do you know which ones (if any) have the newer variants?

Only thing that’s worked for me is goretex army trousers.
I get my local seamstress to cut them below the knee and put some Velcro and a strap around the bottom so they can be tightened, otherwise they are way to flappy.
Pair of braces keeps them high which is important as it stops water from you back running down.

I’ve changed both pairs of mine to the HC’s levers, it’s a significant improvement, so much so I’m totally confused why they even bother supplying the huge plastic flexy ones at all.

I was there 4 weeks ago riding the local trails in 30+ Deg C heat.
We did the canadian and borderline trails.
Not sure if there is a couple of days of riding locally but my local colleague noted a few bike parks close by also.

Both tons of fun, hired a nukeproof mega from https://www.rad-ikal.com/ which was well priced, set up well and in really good condition.

It just f’in sucks, assuming you got your stuff from securityforbikes, then I’d highly recommend talking to them again about what happened as they went beyond the norm to advise on extra security for me.

rico70 did they angle grind the chain?
I’m S10 and they cut mine this way the other year.

My lad is currently on a Orbea MX 20″, I was certain that I’d just by the same 24″ trail version this year, but as noted by garage-dweller the Vitus nucleus 24″ from chain reaction has the same spec but is £150 cheaper.
It sells out within a couple of days of new stock so once I get an stock email supply I’m getting one for sure.
    Plus a few upgrades!

I’ve used MT5’s on my last two bikes (swapping out XT and Guides) and really rate them. As above the single finger HC lever is a must though.

Ogden – if you can recommend any easy to navigate 2hrs fun rides in the South (30mins from Filey) of the North York Moors I’m open to suggestions?

I bought a pair of the new ones after avoiding them for years due to them ripping at the crotch.
New ones felt like great quality, fitted really well and had some nice features.
I kid you not after 6 rides ripped at the crotch!!
Refunded under warranty, so as above I’m also looking for a new pair of well fitted shorts with reinforced panel / DWR on the arse.

Assuming the STW masses are also followers of the church of wittertainment I’d highly suggest a brief “hello to Alex Simon” (and no more) on seeing said wearer of excellent clothing.

franksinatra, was this at Harrogate RUFC on Sunday ?

    Not sure anyone asked but:

“New bushes (only) are available from a proper bearing supplier easily enough for not much £££”

Can anyone post a link please?

I’ve tried the 50mm backer Rod but as Ric notes it’s very difficult to get it in and out.
I put a hole in a rear tyre with it in and it took 2 of us 30min to get the bloody tyre off.
Then had to carry the thing on for the rest of the ride.
If it was any colder we wouldn’t of had a chance.
Think it’s a good idea if you can get a well priced one that’s been designed well to get both in and out easy.

Before investing in a new shock just get a custom tune on it.
I had exactly the same issue on mine plus lack of mid stroke support, so I got it tuned which made a big difference to both the pedal and open platforms.
Both TF or J tech will be able to do this as part of a service.

My Maxx D arrived today also, cheers OP been after one of these to go with my Diablo for years, just could never stomach the price.

Quick question on the reflex + if anyone knows.
If I have the device set on PRG1-3 for reflex mode and turn the light on it just in my hand it appears jusr to sit on high mode and I can see the timmer count down.
Does it need movement to start to learn the cycle modes?

My lads got the same bike, I wouldn’t worry to much about BMX, most of the time he prefers to take the orbea over the BMX out, even to the BMX track!

I put the same pedals on as you and they are perfect, I also put a shorter 40mm stem on it and changed the grips, Otherwise it’s as stock.

5’s here, pads that come with them wear really quick so change to the individual M7’s type straight after they wear out (uberbike do them in Race Matrix).

As above levers are not great but upgrade to the HC single finger (From DE) which are miles better (they should come as standard really).

No problems to bleed here either.

    @ Joebristol

I’ve had the ion k Pact, excellent protection, very comfy and stay in place really well (Can’t stress how important this is after have numerous pads slipping about).

    But:

    They do run very hot

They come up very small and the sizing of the lower half of the pad compared to the upper is a bit odd (for my legs anyhow)

Main issue for me was the raised material around the knee hollow created by the stiching between the pad mesh section. On longer rides this rubbed and left friction burns which stung like hell after.

It’s interesting that Enduro mag didn’t pick up on this as they did for other brands.

Sold them recently due to the above and currently on IXS carve which I’m also going to get rid of as they don’t stay in place.

As others have said this time of year is the best for night riding, when you can go out without a jacket, see a sunset and still be riding on non muddy trails it’s just brilliant.

Yeah lots of small platform options from Welgo.

I bought my 6 year old some Welgo KC001’s (after finding the gravity kids link above also).

They are actually much lighter than the standard plastic ones that came with his bike.

Also, they have studs which give plenty of grip without the shin killers that you get from pedals with pins

I ordered mine from China on eBay, took about 5 weeks to come from memory.

    @scrabble

Thanks for that, sounds perfectly like what we are after, Basque MTB etc was also on my potential list for a biking holiday anyhow, but April weather in northern Spain is a bit cool at 15deg C high (we will be going first wk in april).

    @thegeneralist

Finale is also on my riding bucket list. Again weather in early April is a bit cool but late April looks much better (from this year’s average April weather anyhow)

Ion K Pact certainly worth looking at, they won best in test in enduro mag recently.

    https://enduro-mtb.com/en/best-heavy-duty-knee-pads-can-buy/

If you like the IXS flow the IXS Carve has more upper shin and side knee protection whilst not running to hot.

Boy do MTBer’s seem to stop a lot. At the top and bottom of every hill there were groups just sat there, every group I followed would stop after a section

This is a room 101 for me, it’s drives me mental. It’s not so much the constant stopping but where they stop! I’ve had numerous instances where groups have stopped blocking an exit to a trail and then get annoyed when they have to quickly move out the way for other riders coming right at them.

Personally for me with or without a group I try to limit stopping at every trail head as it bloomin kills my legs warming up and down all the time

I really like my MT5’s swapped them from XT’s on the last bike.

New bike came with Guide RC’s which TBF are good brakes (again way better than XT’s), whilst I liked the modulation they where just missing that last bit of power which the MT5’s have in spades.

I’ve put a new pair of MT5’s on now and find the bleed straight forward but would highly recommend chaining out the stock levers for the HC ones.

These are miles better and I’m at a loss (other than making more money) why they don’t come as standard.

As above a half lock system is my preference.

So either RF half nelsons or my fav the DMR death Grip (you need to properly push / wack them on to stop to much of an overhang which causes the inner to snap IME)

One thing to note is that evoc offer a free crash replacement on the protector which is removable also.
