I’m just about to get a Sprinter van to replace my old transit as its much bigger. I’m going to fit the back out for bike/tool storage and (very) basic accommodation.

To get around the seating problem I got a minibus twin seat. It comes with the seat belts built into the seat and just needs bolting to the floor properly with some thick plates.
I will then cut down the front passenger seat into a single so we can walk through to the back!
The minibus seats don’t cost a lot. I was given mine, just had to drive to Somerset to pick it up.

I had a Scott Scale a few years back, I sat on it in the shop and it felt just like my Orange P7 which I really like. I new after the first technical ride I made a mistake. I tried adjusting the forks and changing the seat, bars and stem but I could never get happy with it. The head tube cracked when just out of warranty, I had all parts swapped onto a Kinesis xcthree and I started riding like I used to.

My riding had actually deteriorated as I didn’t get the feel of the bike and I found myself getting off for some techy bits. I would never have done that before!!

O and before you touch the belt draw a quick diagram of how it goes, and then draw an up arrow on the diagram.

From memory its easy enough. A long ring spanner or long ratchet makes easy work of the belt tensioner (or 2 spanners linked together) makes it easier to get the belt back on if you are doing it alone.

Then just a couple of bolts and the wires.
It may just be the brush box at fault, a remove and clean up or replacement may do the trick for a lot less money.

I had an Alpina B10 3.3 touring for 133k miles. Quick, comfy and reliable, Quite heavy on brakes and tyres but a very good car.

I use flat pedals and trainers. If i’m on the road a lot and wearing bib tights etc I just use black Altura shoe coovers. It keeps my old trainers nice and warm/dry and they don’t stick out like a sore thumb when all my other kit is proper cycling stuff.
