As per last year, THE event of the year… big thanks to Martyn and crew for such a well run race again.

Very pleased with our AQuickRelease.com team's 2nd in open mixed with 16 laps – and really chuffed with my own laps too… our Sodas were blasting round, my laps were mainly around the 40-41 minute mark except for one night one with puncture stops. Didn't have to use the granny ring once either! 🙂

I had the same problem and switched to a Bontrager carbon post – difference from the Thomson was amazing. Scary amounts of flex but very comfortable and it does have an alloy core if you’re still not 100% sure on carbon parts like me!

Glad you enjoyed it… this’ll be my 3rd summer trip out there this year.

    http://www.aquickrelease.com by the way 🙂

ahwiles – mainly clmbing but always a chilled pace to suit everyone and at least one day per week using the lift to Superbagneres when it’s open.

All useful stuff cheers; going with the Skoda dealer so let’s hope they stick to their estimated price.

Cheers guys… just phoned local Skoda dealer & they’ve quoted £600-£650 for MOT, service, timing belt & water pump – compared to non-dealer price of over £700 for that lot!

Nah, was at the Dyfi… I love Swinley but destroying yourself riding round in circles there just isn’t quite right! 😉

Does this apply for the area around Machynlleth – i.e. for Dyfi riders?!!

Yeah, TCW def. an option although was originally thinking of it as a 3-dayer, hmmm…

2 pretty decent days… did 45 miles on the the S Downs the other weekend followed by 30 on the North Downs the next day so happy to do _at least_ that sort of distance

Scotland a bit far really, that Exmoor/Dartmoor thing sounds interesting though…

stuartie_c – yep, I think that’s it – we reached it using a very techy singletrack climb (/carry!) after the river crossing. Bulldozed? Nooooooo! 🙁

Soda is my race bike, but even when I had my Soul, 100mm was spot on I thought and when I did have U-Turn forks, I did wind them down from 130m a fair bit…

Nice! Looks similar (but longer) to a route we did in 2007… in a lot less pleasant weather!

Custom built definitely the way fwd if you want value for money – also XTR hubs & Olympic rims here, weigh in at 1377g 🙂

If you def. want off the shelf, how about Bontrager Race X-Lites or Specialized Rovals.

Although mine had to go back for recall and they were quite new lowers – quick turnaround from Magura though. And if you’re not sure or don’t have serial number to tell, there’s a guide on the Magura site about how to tell from shape of the arch corners.

    <http://www.magura.com/recall>

Recall is for cracked arches though.
