What Anthem is it? The ones with the Overdrive headset system need non-standard stems IIRC – 1.25″ instead of 1&1/8″…

    You’re doing something very wrong.

    Agreed I’m afraid!

Just to reiterate, you need to make sure the bead of the part of the tyre you can get on is in the centre of the rim (i.e. in the “well”) before you try and put the rest on. Once you get the knack it’s an easy fingers only job, honest!

so which ever way you go, you’ll need to bleed the brakes

    Not if you follow this…

Any updates on this? I’m in the same boat as amedias and getting no replies from HBC. I’m a bit loathed to cancel my payment yet though as I do need the chainring!

bol – 1×9 actually! Personally, see no reason to switch to x10 yet. At the moment it’s 25lb-something with the heavier wheels, alu bars, Shimano rotors etc.

Agree that weight isn’t the point of a steel HT but I plan to race it a bit this year as well as my Scale 🙂

This may be of interest – just penned a few thoughts about my time on the prototype Solaris so far: http://aquickrelease.blogspot.com/2012/01/extra-3-cotic-solaris-29er.html

Not sure on weight but doesn’t matter as it’s ace, even in this prototype form 🙂

Crikey, that’s nothing. Got about 4″ of spacers on my hardtail. Bikes just aren’t made for tall folk.

Rubbish! 🙂 6’3″ here with flat bars, -ve rise stem and no spacers!

Weight on front wheel = A Good Thing 🙂

LOL! A 3-day old question and not one person seems (afaik) to have asked yet how tall jojo is!!

If you’re tall like me you’ll have a big saddle-bar drop, if you’re short it’s a lot less likely!

I’ve got the standard M980 double chainsets, so no. Which incidentally is a different BCD (88 I think?) to the triple.

Also, haven’t really worked out the difference between the M980 double (bolts covered) and the M985 double yet (bolts showing)!

But anyway… I guess it’s these that Shaggy is referring to?

You can use other brands of chainrings with M970 cranks – I’ve used Middleburn – but will need spacers in some cases…

Strange question as it depends on so many variables, mainly your height, frame size, geometry etc etc! Lower front generally good for more weight on front though 🙂

    I’m tall…
