JAG – Radars aren’t on their list as ones they’ve done before… how did they come out? Any pics? Thanks.

I’m on the southern edge of Nottingham if you wanted to come up this way for some xc stuff bennyboy1. Best singletrack is north of city centre but dome loops to south too.

My Dad’s got an aluminium aftermarket one fitted, also to prevent dog scratches, and looks great in my view. Super sticky double sided tape that came with it has done the job nicely.

    Really useful feedback, thanks guys.

I’m looming at the largest France size which they day is 23″ (!!!) but seat tube actually about 21″. TT on that seems pretty long.

Grease around the valve before you insert it into the rim. Job done 🙂

Lovely! I’ve had a Sensa Giulia Di2 for just over a year now and couldn’t be happier with it…. Especially at the price!

Small dobs of grease around the valve where it meets the rim tape. Job done 🙂

So the 2nd generic response we’ve all had and the updated info on the DCC website says that the Peak District LAF discussed the work – but minutes of the Nov 2013 meeting say:

They also requested details of the surfacing and also the fencing previously identified for Chapel Gate as they considered this could be intrusive.”

But then the next set of minutes seem to be strangely silent on this…!!! So was it discussed again or not?

    Another one…

18/06/2013 report to cabinet on the Rights of Way Improvement Plan statement of action

    http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/images/2013-06-18%20New%20Statement%20Derbyshire%27s%20RoWIP%202013-2017_tcm44-226109.pdf

    Some relevant quotes:

Several comments were made expressing concern that the delivery of
the actions could increase the ‘managed’ feel of the network resulting in a reduction in the wilder countryside/natural experience. There are very clear statements within the document in relation to the underlying
themes and the supporting Environmental Statement that should
provide reassurance that this will not be the case.

    Aim 5: Greater Community Involvement
    • The comments received in respect to this Aim reinforced the support for the actions to empower local community groups, user groups and local councils to encourage greater involvement in the management and
    promotion of the network.

    From that report:

    However, the Council will
    address the following key concerns:
    1. Some consultees felt that the draft document should expressly state
that the County Council should have due regard for the Peak District
National Park and its concurrent powers.
Comment: The County Council has a strong and very positive
working relationship with the Peak District National Park Authority
(PDNPA). A paragraph will be included which expressively
recognises the relationship of the two authorities.

More interesting reading – here’s the 24 July 2012 report to Cabinet on their Green Lanes policy:

Pity. I’ve asked Natural England the question on Twitter anyway.

Looks like about 1km of the RoW falls within the SSSI on the map.

The list of “potentially damaging operations” for the Dark Peak SSSI which need consent:
    http://www.sssi.naturalengland.org.uk/Special/sssi/old/OLD1003028.pdf

“7. Dumping, spreading or discharge of any materials”

“24. Modification of natural or man-made features including the clearance of large boulders, loose rock or scree….”

Has anyone asked what consents are in place for the work?

According to the Magic website, the trail itself falls inside the Dark Peak SSSI boundary – so they’d need consent from Natural England.

    I remember this problem!

Not sure if the SLs are different but on my standard Martas (black calipers, black & grey levers), the Aztec pads fit fine.

I have both of those bikes. Both ace so it really depends whether you want a hardtail or a full-sus.

Even though my Anthem has been lightened up for day-to-day use, I just couldn’t be without the Solaris.

Riding in Flagstaff is lovely – loads of swoopy woodland singletrack and some great techy stuff around the old lava fields too. The guys at Absolute Bikes were very helpful with trail recommendations and tips. Good maps and signage on the trail too. Stay away from their Spesh Hardrock for hire though, the one I had was truly awful!
