    Apologies for the grubby windscreen/windows:

If I just post loads, does that out-trump everyone?

"thought it might be cheaper just to get a new one instead of getting it services"

How old is it? How long is the manufacturers warranty on it? I’m assuming specializeds lifetime warranty is the frame only

Other than occasional regreasing and replacing of bearings I reckon theres about as much as you would(/should) an air fork.
A silly amount of riders I see (usually when I’ve been to trail centres) have obviously not paid any attention whatsoever to them, running 75% or so sag (instead of 20-30%) having spent thousands.

When I got my full-suss frame, it did take me a while to work out what air pressure and rebound settings worked best. The main thing was setting up the fork and rear suspension to work together well.
The fork needs to be setup properly stop it diving and the back end kicking up (trapdooring) when touching the brakes. On my HT I could get away with running the fork soft without a problem. Similarly the rear end can’t be too soft, else uphill it sits too far backward as it sits into the travel. The guidelines/pressures and a little playing with (trying it a bit harder than you might think as well) should be all you need though.

I can’t remember what the sign said exactly, but I think its something like 9am-5pm, April 1st to September 30th = no bikes. Can’t remember if its no bikes or no bike riding. I’ve thought about pushing up on an afternoon (the bike as an accessory to walking as on a footpath), then waiting till 5pm before riding down. The climb is probably part of the challenge though I imagine
I ended up walking up/down instead last march when half of it was under thick snow, and my riding ‘mates’ didn’t want to try it anyway.

Breathability was okay, a lot better than I’d used before. All the zips (3 of them, the main zip the last to go) went between mid march – june (So I hadn’t used it much)
The shop (evans cycles, my mum bought it) said it was a big problem, and there a lot of people with this problem

On the next one (warranty swap), the main zip went after 2 rides

On returning to the shop again they took it back and offered another £30 to spend on a new jacket. Spent a little more than the £110 I was being offered (just because I couldn’t find anything that was long enough and in a good colour) on a Gore (a black one, I can’t remember the name) and its SO much better.
So much more breathable, I’ve worn it for most of, if not all of every ride since I got it. I rarely wore the altura for most of a ride and If I did I found climbing pretty horrible because of the overheating, which at the time I didn’t think was that bad

"Unfortunately only superstar stock them, so you might as well get a crank brothers or gravity dropper for the extra bit of cash."

But they’re surely a step backward given they have less uppy-downy travel. The longevity of the crank brothers/maverick one isn’t great either I thought

I had a set of raceface lock-ons and suffered hand cramp too. When they wore out (about 4 months) I bought some ODI Rogue inserts (raceface use ODI lockrings) and they helped no end. I never get hand cramp now.
A year and half or so since I got them and they’ve barely worn down. Should be good for at least another year.

“so the more -ve air in the chamber the easier the fork will begin to compress”

Yes, but it’ll dive at every oppurtunity you give it and sit further into its travel at rest (With you on it and without)
Its basically a preload on the main chamber helping to reduce the effect of stiction in the seals, which helps with small bump stuff
