I stand corrected. It was a while ago now i had a Kona….

Ring the shop, or find another Kona dealer and get them to do the legwork. I think Paligap is the distributor, but yeah probably easier for a shop to contact them.

Cheap(ish) and cheerful sounds good to me! BB bearings dont seem to last very long on my current bike.

Not so sure about that, i just spent an hour and a half trying to fit a new chain with a kmc missing link. They have always been easy before!

Its not a smart meter its an “old school” one. Can they do that?

Yeah i can understand that and it makes sense that our usage would go up a lot, the bit which has stumped me is that its gone up so much over 5 hours when there is no one in the house and everything switched off apart from fridge/freezer and router

They’ve been here for about a week and got another couple of days to go.
The loft is free of smells and lights!
I can understand why the Usage would be up generally at the moment just a bit worrying that im using so much power without anything switched on!

Do the YBN ones come apart easily without a tool?

Have you tried taking the wheel out, carefully pumping the brake once or twice then replacing the wheel. Should set the pads bit nearer to the rotor. Worked when i had the same issue with mine.

Im getting a knocking on mine when the rear suspension is compressed. Replaced all bearings, got the chainstay bush kit, had shock serviced, checked bushings. There seems to be a tiny bit of play in the shock mount hardware at the top end of the shock so ill replace that next. Any other thoughts on what it could be?

Whinlatters also pretty close but im quite keen to check out the developments at Gisburn. Is the cafe open mid week?

Never really had a problem with creaking, just knocking on mine.

No, no internal routing. I saw that thread and the mention of an issue with the chainstay bushes/pivot. CRC did send me replacement sleeves/bolts but seemed identical to what came out of the frame, it was a while ago i took it apart and i dont remember if it had the “top hat” spacers. Ill have to take it apart again and check.

Mate just got a 2013 Kona Tanuki(?) Supreme for £550 on ebay. Think they were around £2500 new. So yeah you can get a lot of bike if you go second hand.

The Altura trail at Whinlatter is well worth a look. Theres a fun blue trail as well. I know theres plenty of great natural riding around the Lakes but ive only ever had a spare couple of hours when im up there so just end up riding Whinlatter.

Ah cool, good to know. Ive got a cold setting on my machine, thought 30 was a bit cold and then cold was cold cold. Didnt want to destroy them after one use!

I’ve got some low friction seals but haven’t fitted them yet, ill fit them when i do a lower leg service and see if it makes much difference.
I’d definitely recommend the charger damper, makes the forks a lot smoother and sit higher in their travel, i found the Boxxer rcs to feel quite wooden, long runs would knacker my arms quite badly and the charger stopped that happening. I found it a very obvious improvement. I just find i can still only get about 20% sag even using the softest spring hence thinking the air spring may be worth a shot.
I got the charger kit from bike-discount.de a few months ago and it was a good deal cheaper than anywhere else i found it.

Im around 10.5 to 11 stone, so around 65-70kg. Ive always had air forks on my trail bikes which have always worked great for me. I think whether or not its an upgrade or a downgrade would depend on who you asked. The World Cup Boxxers come with the airsprings so i imagine they would be pretty decent. Id be interested to try a pair with the airspring anyway.

Ive done the charger upgrade which certainly improved the forks a lot. The main issue is that even with the extra soft spring in they still feel firm over small stuff. I figured the air spring may be better for lighter riders.
Ive heard some people say they have got away with just swapping the spring without changing the stanchion.

Well i just tested it and it stopped the noise. Im not actually gonna use it for the mo, mates an electrician and hes gonna put a resistor in the plug which will apparently make it safe. Though as long as its plugged into the computer it will be earthed through that (apparently)

Cured by disconnecting earth cable from amp

    jakehinton

So it also makes the noise when plugging a laptop into the amp. But stops when you unplug laptop from the wall

Im currently not putting any audio from the pc to the amp as the interference is too loud. I was using a 3.5 jack to phono lead. All i was saying was that the interference is still getting through even though it is now not even plugged directly into the amp.

    jakehinton

Well its not really sound, its some sort of digital interference which comes out as sound, the vga cable is the only way the computer is linked (via tv) to the amp. Sound goes away if i unplug the vga cable. I tried using a hdmi cable but that also carried the interference. Ive tried plugging everything into ame extension and that doesnt seem to make a difference either….

Gonna dredge this up again as im getting bad noises coming trough my amp again. Even when the amp is not plugged directly (sound must be going through vga cable to tv then out of phono cable from tv to amp) into the computer im getting the noises. Ive tried installing a pci sound card and also tried a usb sound card but to no avail. Would a DAC cure it?

Dont really want to have to buy new forks especially after upgrading them to charger damper! (Though im sure the Marzocchis’ are very nice)

    jakehinton

Could be a bit of stiction from the seals. The oil in the lowers should be correct as i emptied and refilled when installing the charger damper

    jakehinton
    Free Member

Bit too soft! They compress fully when i take the spring out…
Would it make much of a difference if the spring is in the wrong way round? Smaller end meant to be at the bottom of the fork or the top?

    jakehinton

Yeah im checking sag stood up in “attack position”. Im hoping the forks arent buggered as they are pretty much brand new and feel fine apart from the sag issue. Though i suppose the good thing is if they are buggered they will be under warranty. Looking on the manual it just says less than 16mm between spacers and top of the stanchion so ill see if it makes much difference taking a spacer out
