Dizcostix, I would probably be on a 350 or 400 spring so hopefully wouldnt have the issue with fitting/removing?

Nice spec rob! Sounds pretty reasonable, I just emailed Ed with a spec list to see what sort of price he comes back with, though im probably leaning towards frame or frame & fork bundle.
All the replies are certainly not putting me off getting one!

I think if its in warranty they just replace it now instead of fixing it.

Phil56 What fork are you using? Ive just come back from my first Alps trip, pretty amazing, sure the Edit would be spot on out there!

Yeah ive been looking at the Birds too, kinda like the look of the airdrop more and the fact you can have a custom spec.

Maybe give TF a call and check with them about the suitability on that frame. If you go for a CCDB you can tune it how you like. Awesome shocks but take a little dialing in.

Apparently the knocking on my (older) monarch rt3 shock isnt actually a problem more of a slight design fault, TF said they can make it quieter or possibly eliminate it but apparet from the annoying noise its not actually an issue.

Nobeer yes very true, good for the bank balance though! Just be nice if they slowed it down a bit for a couple of years!

Yeah the Birds look good and all the new standards. Just keep coming back to the Airdrop at the mo. Currently on 1×10 26er but thinking if im getting a whole new bike better go 27.5

Mine came when they said it would, that was a couple of years back though.

Anyone know if TF will lend replacement shocks?

Only had it back a couple of weeks, done a few rides on it and it was fine. Just started today. Ill double check the bushings but all the mounting hardware is solid and its the same noise as occurs on the rt3 which was definitely the shock. Maybe tf will rush it through for me if its their mistake, or send me one to use whilst im away and they’re sorting mine.

Out of interest what was the actual issue causing the knocking on other peoples Monarchs?

    jakehinton

Did it ever actually affect the monarchs? Mine always actually functioned fine the noise was just annoying! Hopefully its the same on the ccdb

No old hubs unfortunately, tried lbs but they only had fork spacers for qr forks, suggested cutting down some thick cardboard tube. Ive found some chipboard with a hole cut through a i can use on the back though.

The Evoc bags look good but bit pricey as im not gong to be flying that often, ive got a cheap crc one which im planning on padding out a bit. Ill see if i can find some metal tube then!

I imagine it will be fine as long as there is some sort of lubrication in there. Apologies if you die!

Sounds like the lsr adjuster is broken. I bought a second hand one which came with the same issue. There is only a little resistance when it reaches fully open or closed making it pretty easy to over do it. Seems like a bit of a design flaw really. Is it new or second hand?

Ive got a pair of Arch exs and a pair of Flow mk3s. Both nice rims but the Flows seem a lot tougher for not much weight penalty really.

Yeah I was thinking I would avoid the open moors and stick to the valleys but then realised that would mean being under the trees pretty much the whole time. Don’t really want a branch landing on my head!

My Renault did this, fixed by removing the replays and cleaning them up a bit.

Try (carefully) with a heavier hammer. I struggled for ages getting mine out of my Mega with a rubber mallet.

Yep, sixtapod is good for first run. Vicous valley – boneville – insufficient funds is a good combo. Hotstepper is awesome! Most of the blacks are fun even if you cant clear the jumps. Cant go wrong really!

Wear knee/elbow pads if you’ve got them. The ground is pretty hard and rocky. I’ve been there a few times with friends who’ve had to go to hospital for stitches from pretty innocuous crashes.

The top of Hawcombe is good too, or the top of Ley hill to drop onto the Cats Scramble. Loads of good riding round there, especially if your uplifting, you can get loads of great descents in!

I’d be tempted by the 27.5 version if it wasn’t for the bloody stupid name!

Yes the world is a bit in the shit at the moment, though in reality we are living in pretty much the most privileged, safe and free time periods in history. It wasn’t long ago that there was no rights for women/black/gay, well anyone who wasn’t white and rich anyway. Medical science is more advanced than ever with ever increasing life expectancy and although we are **** up the environment we are at least now aware of what we are doing and the impact it has.

Hopefully this current downward trend is just a blip and we can start progressing again soon.

And yes, I agree a lot of it is media hype designed to scare and divide people and to keep the bombs dropping!

You will need the correct 130mm airshaft, cost around £30. Its very easy to change, and the rockshox manuals are all online. Just remember to remove the air from the forks before dismantling!
The tokens make the forks more progressive so they ramp up more at the end of the travel. Basically you can run lower pressures to get better small bump sensitivity whilst preventing them from bottoming out too easily.

Ive got a Vicorinox Fibrox Santoku knife which is great and only about £25. Also just treated myself to a Zelite Infinity Japanese steel santoku. Bit pricey but a lovely bit of kit!

But are the dhf 2.5s the “old” smaller sizing or are they actually larger than the 2.4s?
