Engine im looking at supposedly has 81000 miles on it which is about 50000 less than mine. Doubt they have any proof of this though its guaranteed for 3 months. In all fairness though if I bought a whole new car there is no guarantee what sort of life that car/engine would have had either.

Nope! Ive taken it apart and put it back together a few times now, bearings all seem fine. Im totally stumped. Cars just blown up though so car hunting will have to take priority.

Ill try that to make sure its not the bearings.

Bearing all look and feel properly seated. I’m thinking maybe I’ve damaged 1 or more Pawl springs when I put them back in so the Pawls are pushing out too much

Too much grease on the ratchet maybe?

Ive seen the hope video, and followed it correctly as far as I can tell.

Not sure how old the bearings were, I’m fixing up a mates bike, its a 2009 Marin so the bearings could be as old as 9 years I guess! The freehub bearings were ok it was just the hub bearings were a bit rough but thought I may as well replace all as they came as a complete set.

I assume I have the seal right. Grooved side on the inside, flat side on the outside. Tried it the other way but it didn’t click in the other way round. I’ll double check the bearings are seated properly but they looked OK. Cheers for the input!

Went to the Alps last year with easy jet, packed the bike bag out with helmet, cloths etc. All fine as long as its under the weight limit.

The grounds pretty unforgiving in most places, a few friends have had their day cut short by a fairly innocuous crash followed by a trip to Merthyr hospital which knee/elbow pads would have prevented.

I’d also recommend the IXS flows, good for skinny arms, comfy and pretty good protection.

Didn’t the director change halfway through with Peter Jackson left essentially trying to polish a turd? There was too much cgi which just looked crap. Look at the orcs in the hobbit and compare them to the orcs in lotr. Plus all the added nonsense of Legolas and the women elf whatever she was called.

I last shaved in July 2007, but I look ridiculous clean shaven.

Yep, always gets a bit much round there this time of year, certainly takes the fun out of it a bit. Cant see it could be a problem cutting back the trails a bit, though its a shame the national park guys dont do it! Exmoor always seems a lot better maintained for some reason.

CCDB Coil inline? Impressed with mine. Less maintenance on a coil too.

Ill give myself plenty of time and happy/expecting to push/carry bits. Im thinking if I have plenty of time it shouldnt be too bad in this heat. Lots of water and breaks will probably be the order of the day!

Some of the best riding on Dartmoor round there. Though durubg the height of summer it can get a bit overgrown. When are you going?

I had thought of doing a shorter ride one day followed by Whinlatter. Im up in the Dales (Wensleydale) visiting family so im about an hour an a half from Keswick. Im planning to get a ride or two in over the hill in Swaledale too

Thats great thanks. Any advice on which ride to try? 3-5 hours, mix of techy and flowy. May stay overnight and ride Whinlatter one day too

As there is so little oil in the pike I tend to do a lower leg service every few months, though sometimes i just crack the lowers and pop a bit of fresh oil in instead of fully disassembling them.

Dhf/dhr2 is a good combo, if you shop around you can normally find them for around £30 each

New finish line sealant is meant to be good and supposedly doesn’t dry out so will last the lifetime of the tyre. Its quite expensive though and I haven’t actually tried it yet.

I dont own one but a mate has one and is impressed with it. Its not going to be the fastest bike on the climbs but i wouldnt let that put you off. Also Whyte seem a good company to buy from, mate had a few issues with his and they basically replaced and upgraded pretty much everything on his bike for free. Cant say fairer than that!

Its an older (2003) Berlingo I currently have, and yes its pretty awe inspiring! Ive just seen a 2017 nv200 for £9000 which is about twice what I was looking at paying but seems cheap for what it is. Ill look at the newer Berlingos too, I hadnt realised they were that much bigger than the old ones.

Cheers for the heads up on Winstanleys, think it still works out a couple of quid cheaper through crc with bc discount and topcashback. Reckon ill bite the bullet and give em a go. Sounds like the standard hoses are the ones to go for. Cheers for the input!

I had a Snail one, bent very easily from a rock strike. Wouldn’t bother getting one again. I would wait for one of the frequent Superstar sales and get one from them for a few quid extra.

Thanks. The initial quote was from myhomemove who seem to have quite inconsistent reviews. Just waiting for quotes from a couple of local solicitors but nice to know what sort of figure ill be looking at.
