On the canyon i would probably want to upgrade the forks with charger damper but that would be about it i think

To be honest i think id prefer the canyon but the 500 quid saving with the scalp is hard to ignore. I would probably have to change the springs in forks and on shock but may be ok for me, thinking id need some lighter ones than what comes as stock

Is it worth spending 35 quid on bearing press tools or is it fairly cheap job for bike shop to do? Not had great experience with my local shop which puts me off a bit, though cant imagine its too easy to cock up with proper tools…

Taking the wheel out and pumping piston out a bit worked great on the back but not really on the front. Think one of the pistons is pumping out a bit more than the other on the front.

Im using shimano floating rotors, newish ones. Yes you have to pump the brakes a bit at first so the pistons move closer to the rotor but even once the pistons are pushed closer to the disc there seems to be quite a bit of lever movement before they bite. Are they supposed to be like this? Chap in bike shop said to change the reach on the lever so they are further from the bars but i can obviously only move them so far away whilst still being able to reach them!

Nicer to have a full sus on the reds and blacks but not essential. The grounds pretty hard and rocky there so i tend to wear elbow, knees and full face. Blues will be awesome on a hard tail!

Bikes a mega tr so should really be able to take a bit of abuse. its just that im looking at some jumps/drops and thinking “i could probably make that but if i dont is it gonna do some damage?” I would be more inclined to try on a dh bike as im sure the extra travel would soak it up fine

Definatley wWites Level. I think its got the most fun descent and the climb is fairly long but actually quite enjoyable as its not just fire road slog… Could always push for a bit of it if your mates struggling and still do it easily in 3 hours

Ive been looking at the YT and Nukeproof Pulse as well, though i do like the look of the Canyon in red and it is the best price. Though i maybe tempted to spend a bit more and get the next one up with the ccdb shock

Most toasters. Dont actually fit bread in properly so the top of the bread remains untoasted. Oh and the plate drying rack i got off ebay which doesnt fit plates in it.
