Whats the date code on the sidewall?

Bet they are quite old and probably past best

They look like they are having fun.

As illegal as an unrestricted Ebike I suppose!

I removed a 150mm transfer factory and fitted a oneup 210mm on a brand new bike.

The oneup is very very close in quality, works 100% correctly. Finish is still above a lot of bicycle parts.
You can’t service the fox posts yourself which is a big negative expense.
The fox posts are also more outlay initially and all I can see is gained is bling.

Go for the oneup, I wouldn’t justify the extra costs for the fox personally.

    These sort of threads repeat every few weeks;
    Walkers don’t like cyclist
    Cyclist don’t like Ebikes
    Cyclists don’t like Emotorbikes
    Cyclists don’t like motorbikes
Horsey people don’t like cyclists and vice versa.

Cyclists have a HUGE variety of places to cycle, emotorbikes and motorcyclists don’t.

The problem isn’t gonna go away, and not everyone is so trail precious or understanding of the potential damage as some of us are.

They all get tarred with the same brush, which isn’t fair.

But obviously everyone should ride unassisted bikes and if they don’t they are wrong hey!

    Ktm 950sm.
Comfy, reliable(ish) and nice wave of torque from the big V.

I had an mt10 before and that was a laugh, but forever double guessing what had been caught on dash cams or speed cameras every outing.

I had an old sv650 and that was also great fun.

    Hi w00dster,

No sly dig intended, the transporters aren’t reliable vehicles and are very expensive in the first place. This is verified by multiple posters in this thread discussing the maintenance costs.

They are a fashion item, and demand a premium due to this. Sure when they work they drive nice, they are £50k+ they should do!

The thread is based around the ‘economics’ of a VW, highlighting other options with a better reliability record are available seemed relevant to the main theme of the thread.

Sorry to have caused offence 🙂

I have a LWB hiace. Insulated the back, double air bed fits.
    Multiple bikes fit
    Or multiple other items.
    Use it daily.
    Cost me £2.5k.
    Will outlast any transporter 🙂

    These have caught my eye…

    Any for/against?

    Will be running 25mm tyres.
Seem well reviewed and saves hassle of getting separate parts and getting built.

On the Woburn topic, the bike park is closed now due to covid.

The backside by the church was never official, but a few of the trails are as well maintained as the official loops.

    Ever ridden/raced an MX bike?
You’ll need to be a lot fitter than your average MTB rider…
    Back on topic.

    Yes, regularly.
Off road motorcycle riding exists outside of motorcross.
Much like mountain biking exists outside of downhill racing.

To poodle along a trail or Greenlane, which is more closely comparable to what I see most middle aged overweight blokes doing on ebikes at all the trail centres is a very similar effort level.
Give it a try, you don’t even have to spin the pedals to pretend you are powering yourself along!

But like you see, let’s keep on topic!

If you can’t be bothered to pedal a bike or get fit to efficiently ride an ‘acoustic'(??) bike, why not just get a motorcycle and give up the pedalling all together?

Or is it the false feeling of superiority in thinking you are quick and its not the bike doing it all for you?

    Stop eating meat.
Its a huge, often overlooked, contributor to destroying the environment.
The focus is always on paper straws instead of the huge emissions cause by the meat industry.

Keep extra aside for upgrading the SX mech to a GX when it gives up.

Go outdoors warranty is spot on.

So general consensus is they are nice looking boots, but the waterproof claim is pish.

Shame really, at the price you can get proper goretex footwear with a guaranteed

Its quite clear if a shoe is leaking at the opening or just from water entering through the non existent waterproofing.

Those fairbanks are quite badly reviewed in amazon, lots of reports of leaks.

    Any real world experience?

Quite a big spend to be leaking after a few weeks.

    Non existent.

The guys at Guilfird are super helpful but the whole YT system seems broken if you have an issue. Its bigger than a couple of helpful guys in a showroom fixing it.

The bikes are mint, the spec level is great. But the customer service is horrific

    I have one of these;

    https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men-s-ski-base-layer-top-500-1-2-zip/_/R-p-328350

I really like it as an extra layer if more than a T shirt and rain coat is needed (pretty much every ride this time of year!)

    They also do this;

    https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men-s-ski-base-layer-top-900/_/R-p-306092

Which is the next ‘tier’ up

Strava is free for what you are trying to do.

The subscription is for deeper analysis and some extra features which aren’t needed.

You can track routes and speeds without paying.

crf250x suffer from valve issues, mainly due to neglect or abuse. But they are certainly prone to it and on 10 year old bikes its worth keeping in mind.

Early Wr is more towards the trail side and a bit less MX then the crf.

Sherco is typical euro stuff, not as well built. Likely to be a bit rougher around the edges…. Probably very capable though.

Got for a WR, excellent bikes.
The later ones are lighter, faster and more heavily relatable to the YZF models (not necessarily a good thing, depends on skill level and intended usage)

P.s I note you’ve just joined and have 1 post…this is a cycling forum, not motorcycle:)

    Agreed… knobs.

Equally less and less legal places to ride enduro motorcycles.
Green lanes are graded and/or closed.

Riding a cycle bike you can get away with it everywhere, much like we are all annoyed at them. Walkers will be annoyed when you go along a footpath and don’t feel you’ve done any harm.

They won’t be realising the damage to the mtb trails, 2 sides to every coin and all that….

Milwaukee do a range – with heated hoodies and coats. (Not sure about gilets).
They seem to be popular amongst trade types.

Keis are the big name for motorcycle stuff But don’t think they will run off a battery.

    As mentioned – pedalcover.
Both mine and partners bikes covered, including accident cover – bikes total £7kish
75k contents (seemed standard preset and more than we needed!)
    Covered from a car/van also
    For circa £280/yr

    Further to the above;

Demoed an AM9 around swinley, it was okay. Felt more ‘enduro’ and less trail AKA less fun.
    Probably great for enduro racing.

Jeffsy XXL arrived today, so 2 weeks from order to arrival at my door 🙂

Initial impressions seems okay, paint quality is a bit poor. Around the headtube you can see exposed carbon Where I assume it’s been machined flat or left unpainted for the headset to fit flush (They all appear to be like this from a quick Google!)
Paint otherwise looks okay, bike is still in box for now!
Need to get invisiframe sorted and a decent frame guard on once built:)

    Interesting stuff!

I’ve got an XXL 27 pro race order in now.
Not debating it with myself any further!

In the nice silver/blue rather than just plain black.
Hopefully the delivery wait isn’t too long!!

    Interesting!

What did you prefer with the 29?
Just the general speed and stability?

    jake123

    Thanks for your comprehensive reply.

I very much enjoyed the XXL 29 I demoed, I just got cold feet on the fear it would be too large around my local riding (mid Bedfordshire woburn/chicksands/very flat etc)
But do tend to get away a lot now.

I’ve chucked both on order so as to not miss out (I.e they sell out!) and need to mull this over and get one cancelled tommorow.

You being slightly shorter and liking the XXL sways me somewhat.
The 901 is a fun bike but is too short in reach/ETT for sure, so maybe that does push it towards XXL jeffsy.

Are you saying a 27 jeffsy will feel shorter than the equivalent size 29 due to geo? I think I’d overlooked this when comparing.
I’d like to keep the playful 27ness but as you say the 29 is such a great bike (hence being sold out in all sizes!)

The jeffsy XXL 29 seat definitely felt quite far back/slack compared to the 901. But I didn’t ride back to back so could just be in my mind!

Thanks again for your time and replies!

    jake123

Regarding the 901 it doesn’t have a dropper, just running full extension on the stock seat tube! (How very old school).

I was set on this XL but you’ve made me redoubt it and consider cancelling and upsizing to the XXL!

You mention it’s not bigger but it is larger in dimensions than most XLs from other manufacturers.

Such a hard choice and I think either will probably work fine!

Update – YT had a batch of bikes with ‘visual defects’ listed.

An XL 27 pro race has now been ordered for £1200 off list on a 2019.

If anyone else is looking they still have XLs in stock! 3666 delivered.

Will update once it arrives, free returns but pretty confident it’ll be good and I was just trying to talkmyself into an XXL!

    jake123

    Thanks for all replies!

Jeffsy is 150mm, the 27.5 pro race is 160mm.

6ft4 is the crossover from XL to XXL on YT size charts.
As mentioned it’s not often you see taller, probably the only reason XXL is left in stock!

    All insights appreciated.

Regarding after sales YT Mill is now open in Guilford, UK contact point where warranty work can be processed and workshop on site. Swings the game a bit

    Cheers all
