All sorts of food, there are about 50 restaurants in Leeds I deliver from. Pizza, curries, Italian, Thai, Chinese, KFC, Pizza Express type places etc.

The current bags are as big as those above either, about half the size and reflective now too.

I work for them part time, I do a couple of evening shifts a week (I’m a student in Leeds). I’m averaging £8.20 an hour and the work suits me more than sitting in a supermarket and as I’m only doing a few hours a week for extra spending money I’m not fussed by the whole self employed, no holiday pay stuff.

I would NOT want to work full time with them though, no job security, no guaranteed hours, holiday, sick pay etc. Works well for me though. There are some riders who are complete muppets though, no lights, dressing in dark clothes etc.

You pay a deposit for the bag, jersey, jacket etc. The work itself isn’t too bad, you do get penalised for slow deliveries, I haven’t had a problem with meeting targets though, but I’d day I’m a competent cyclist. Some of the others who work for them aren’t though..

They’ve expanded massively in Leeds over the last couple of months, bringing in a lot of inexperienced, frankly not very competent riders, most of who are students.

We get a surprising amount of aggression from taxi drivers which isn’t great, but apart from that the riding is fine. I average perhaps 35km over a 4 1/2 hr shift. Keeps you fit as well as getting paid.

Got some sort of Osram (Nightbreaker?) bulbs in the dip and main beam, significantly brighter, while still being 55w.

Love my Montane Prism, for a not too warm jacket.

Got a P9 in August as a trade up from a Sony Xperia Z1, and it’s great! Love the camera, the finger print sensor and the battery seems decent too.

One weird thing is that Strava seems to stop after an hour unless you go on the app (which seems to ‘reset’ this hour countdown), does anyone else get this?

Used their BLACKFRIDAY code to get money off an air and oil filter too, had to put them in a seperate order though as it wouldn’t apply two codes at the same time.

On a club trip to Wales we got 10 mountain bikes in a swb Transit Custom with the front wheels off with no bother. Width ways across the van alternating the direction they face. Probably have no too much bother getting ~20 in a lwb Sprinter in 1 layer.

There was no payment for the box, someone came round and fitted it a time to suit me within a 2 week window and they left it in but supposedly deactivated it when the policy ran out and I switched to normal insurance after a year.

I had one for my first year of driving (2013 @ 18 years old). It didn’t have a curfew and my 1.0l Peugeot 106 was so hideously slow that I never had a problem keeping within the targets they set etc. It was much cheaper than getting insurance without, I think it was with Ingenie.

Not much worth photographing to be honest, it’s started melting already.

Snow in Leeds this morning, only a thin covering and very slushy. Probably more up on the moors.

Think of it like a pork pie but instead of pastry you’ve got tin.

Hopped a small (1ft) fence in the park Easter 2015 on the way to the shop and tore some ligaments in my ankle landing on it funny. Couldn’t weight bear for 3 weeks and it still aches now occasionally, 18 months on.

Paté I’d be okay with. Would you eat tuna from a can?

I don’t know what people are doing to them if they aren’t lasting 3 years, mines been in daily use since I got it for uni and I’m going into my last year now and it’s still fine. HP Envy something, it was about £500. I’ve only needed Office, the internet and a few basic programming things like MatLab though.

Got back last Friday from near Vannes, the weather was beautiful for the whole two weeks. A great place, more for the cross bike than the mountain bike though!

I’m in exactly that position as a third year student, my maintenance loan covers just my accommodation. I budget for £70 a week to cover everything else, some from parents and some from holiday work. This covers food, drink, bike bits, elec, gas, internet bills and going out etc and is enough that I’m comfortable. In Leeds btw so probably similar costs to Manchester.

173k Citroen Xsara Estate with the 2.0 Hdi, still pulls strongly, although it’s a bit wallowy and some of the electrics are dodgy. 700 mile drive back from France tomorrow that I’m sure it’ll do just fine.

Thanks for all the replies, very positive, which can’t be said for the London Road. I’ll do my homework and get purchasing when funds allow.

A real shame for Abbot, it would have been great to see her make that.

Doesn’t seem like a good sign that they haven’t shown anything since the crash. Really hope she’s okay.

Thanks for the offer but I don’t have the funds at the moment unfortunately and I’d probably be looking at a size 56.

That’ll be the one in Little Stretton at the bottom of Ashes Hollow. The pub is called the Ragleth and is pretty decent.

I current live on about £60 a week as a student in Leeds, not including rent. That covers everything else though including gas/electric/broadband/phone contract/any buses or trains/food/going out. I maybe spend ~£20 a week on food, cooking the vast majority from scratch.

Equally I know people who live on less than £30 p/w and others who spend +£200 p/w on God knows what..

Number 9 is my favourite, definitely needs riding, and 10 is very rapid riding down. Explore the other hills around too! Caer Caradoc/Hope Bowdler Hill/Stiperstones are all great.

I got hit by a van sometime last year too and I’m now hyper aware of cars pulling out of junctions or turning across me. It’s saved me a couple of times since. Always wear a helmet and have lights in anything less than perfect visibility too. And no headphones, the amount of people wearing headphones while riding is ridiculous. Why deliberately disable one of your senses??

I think the road you’re talking about is the old incline plane that comes off the back of Brown Clee hill. It’s where the railway that brought down stone from the quarry at the top of the hill used to run. It’s not a classified road but has a right of way and is paved. And I can vouch for it being that steep and long (and dead straight too). I’ve only ridden it on the mtb with disks though, wouldn’t fancy it on a road bike.

Nothing wrong with either of my Works Components rings and they’re a touch cheaper than the Hope or Race Face. Not as cheap as Superstar though.

Anyone got a recommendation of a tick removal tool? Or even better a link? Thanks

I had a problem with this on longer and rougher rides (including Llandegla black). A swap from some thin oem grips to thicker foam ones has seen the problem disappear completely.

@ahsat – Are you doing any teaching? If so there is a good chance you’ll end up lecturing me next year!

Good luck to both of you in the move.
