Most studio engineers I've met(and I've met and worked with a lot), unless they are at the very top of their game, are pretty much idiots or failed musos anyway

"Bose seems good enough for the Institute of Acoustics to use"….. for a conference room pa maybe……..

Nowt really wrong with bose, but they are really overpriced for what they are, pretty and convenient though.

Philips and Denon(especially the dm series which has been winning best buy awards left right and centre for the best part of a decade now) and will have comparable boxes in the same price bracket if not quite a lot less, and will probably give better value for money. I'd look at them as well so you pays your money and oh **** it, get whatever you want if you like it.:)

Triumph of form over function, Speakers are tuned to be quite toppy( ie biased towards the higher frequencies), so they sound really exciting in the shop, the transmission line (wave tube) is to give a bit more bottom end and mid range, but to listen for any length of time they begin to grate quite quickly. And as pointed out above, they are just filled with bog standard Phillips guts anyway.

Get a Denon or go to Richer Sounds for that sort of money

Imho, If you do understand or care about Pink Floyd, you're probably a fan of a technically competent, pretentious and ultimately dull dad rock band.

Frankly they bore me to death, and my tastes are musically quite varied and I play a number of instruments really quite well.:)

Been using Grabber A/T for years, love 'em. Especially in ice and snow. Bit noisy on surfaced roads but very good in bad conditions.

"The first 18 minutes of Snake Eyes is just one camera shot."

Hitchcock's "Rope", is only ten shots, shot in real time with no edits, apart from the establishing shot which cuts to the interior.

Most of the shots are between 7 and 10 minutes, ten minutes being the longest available technicolor reel to shoot onto. well impressive to watch.

Back to the original point anyway, 50w is about as big as you need to go I reckon, make sure it has a line out to connect to a PA, try loads of different amps, find one that he likes with really easy to replicate settings.

For stage work and studio, I use a Marshal mg15dfx, with effects turned off, all the eqs turned full up, and a Pocket pod using clearly named presets for switching different effects and sounds in….. works fine with pretty much any guitar I put into it. I use that for pretty much everything now cos I'm essentially too lazy not too.

no it doesnt, but my point is the jackson may be the better option for metal style riffs, searing solos and shredding the fretboard etc, but for slower more soulful peices, the lp may be a better option. not so much what you play, but how it comes out sounding from the two different guitars, without having to bugger about with the amp on stage…….just that.:)

I'm talking about the overall tone of the instrument, i.e an LP sounding smoother, I'd expect an LP / LP copy to sound smoother and less peaky than a Jackson fitted with active EMG 60 or 80 series pick ups, that's all. 🙂

"It also escapes me why a Les Paul copy would be more melodic. Sounds like most people who spout complete bollox about guitars enhanced by pictures/rumours/'facts' from the sixties"

Because Jackson Guitars tend to be quite peaky (i.e. crisp with loads of top end drive) in terms of the overall tone, especially if it's fitted with the active emg pickups which at this price point is reasonably likely. Even a quite cheap LP copy will probably sound mellower (though probably not as crisp) than a Jackson, especially if it's a half decent one with a chamber between the cap and the body.

    That's why:)

Black tie for a wedding is almost indescribably vulgar, regardless of the desperately aspirational children's names. If you must wear a suit, single breasted suit in any color except black, with a single vent is suitable, however morning dress ( which is entirely separate from mourning dress) is just about acceptable if still a little crass, if that is what the groom's party is wearing and you have asked permission.

Morning dress is traditionally a gentleman's riding attire for a morning in town, and is appropriate for wear until 4pm, or if a change of attire is not available, 7pm at the latest, at which point the gentleman should retire to his accomodation and return suitably equipped. Sitting for dinner or supper in morning attire is an absolute no no.

Hope that clarifies the situation for you.:)

Manufactured boy band with added swearing, and apart from Steve Jones, a bag of sh**e and one of the most pedestrian "punk" bands ever imho.

Plenty of other more interesting bands around at the time and a couple of years before who weren't wearing clothes hoisted on them by a bandwagon jumping King's road manager/stylist and reliant on creating controversy to shift records., again imho
