the video made it look a bit tamer than it was, but even so it was quite a tame round. think they deliberately tried to wind it in a bit after the Grizedale one? also probably expected much worse conditions hence using more of the all weather tracks rather than the fresh cut stuff. all good fun.
i got an estate car because i hate roof racks. its great if its just me or me and a mate off somewhere for the day but have just realised if all the family are on board theres no room for any bikes! doh.
so currently debating whether to go Seasucker, or go all out and have a towbar fitted then get myself a Thule 927 or similar. neither option are particularly cheap!

I love riding my bike but my family is more important, so whatever keeps all them happy
your family should appreciate what makes you happy too. happy dad generates a happy home.
babies are hard work no doubt, but its rarely a two man job 24/7. i agree epic days out will stop but cant see why 2 or 3hr blasts a few times a week should?
as long you you pull your weight during the other times and give her 2 or 3hr breaks a few times a week too.
Yeah Gaidong im sure theyd swap it if it fails, the problem is itll fail while youre on a ride somewhere, so if you are far from home or in a race its game over.
id avoid the xtr shifter. this happened to mine and a mates http://forums.mtbr.com/drivetrain-shifters-derailleurs-cranks/xtr-m9000-rh-shifter-jams-stops-working-anyone-else-had-967122.html although to be fair a few other people i know have had zero problems with theirs. however because of this i went XT with the shifter replacement, which unfortunately meant indicator windowed bar mount version due to unavailability of spec b… it isnt that bad actually and can happily live with it until i can get hold of the blanking plate or a specb shifter. operationally its no worse than than the xtr, just not as sexy…
it does say lower down that thread that shimano have remedied the problem on later manufactured xtr units – just luck of the draw whether you get one of the new ones or not.
no idea how it performs but tried on a Gore Power Trail GT AS Jacket the other week, felt very nice, good quality and light, going off the brand id expect it to be the bollocks, looks great too.
i dont remember things being so convoluted, i like to go out riding my bike – she likes to go out for lunch, have her nails done or whatever. take turns, share the load, chill the frig out.
Bar mount 11sp XTR don’t have windows but this * happened to mine (and a mates) so decided to go XT with the shifter. Wanted spec b initially to marry my saints but obviously they are gold rocking horse shit. Decided to plump for windowed bar mount one with the view id get a cover plate when they become available but to be honest been running it a little while and I don’t mind it, even caught myself checking it a few times! Who knows how long the spec b ones will be but won’t be an expensive upgrade so will just wait for them…
yeah i dont blame the buyer, i hadnt noticed them tbh they’d been idle in the shed for months. did get them serviced tho prior to listing tho, but they didnt mention it.
i did this at the weekend with a new set of saints. chopped a fair length off both hoses used new inserts and olives put them back together fully expecting to do a bleed but they were bang on, no pushing pistons back or anything. almost bled them anyway as i didnt trust myself but they were fine all day sunday.
ive seen folk strapping their short travel bikes back on the car roof after one run! ive also seen people having tons of fun on hardtails. i think it’ll be a shock to the system at first, stinky blues are not trail centre blues! but they are immense fun. I always start at the top of a blue and then pick up the red or black lower down so you get a much longer run.
There’s a good five or six process’s in our riding group now. Mostly 153’s and everybody loves them. just as comfortable pedaling all day on the moors as it is on balls out DH tracks. Delighted with mine too.
there is no play kimbers. have been advised to try that copper grease so will give that a whirl otherwise its going in…
we have Sainte Foy boooked with the family but i fancy an extra few days. ive been to Morzine/Les Gets quite a few times in Summer would like to go check it out in the winter again.
just out of interest, anyone skied the Pleney black DH run?
Yep. Looks like some ace stages. Loamageddon is quality. Looking forward to stage 2 (apart from the uphill fireroad sprint bit in the middle) some nice new bits on the DH line too. Can’t wait.
its getting over that mental block about moving on snow, if he’s already skied a few times he’ll be past that and have the confidence. all the other kids in the Groomie Riders will probably still have to face this hurdle and therefore hold him back.
