CP – sounds like you’re thinking of Loui Colella.

I don’t think any mountain bikes are particulalry cool.

I’ve had a sit on one of those things at Donnington. They look like a good laugh, and I’ve always been a fan of the reverse trike concept.

Bit daft, having both the disadvantages of a car and the disadvantages of a bike, but for sheer silliness and a fun different way to get around in the summer months, I’d be all over it.

Oh, and my mate’s old DH bike that had some old Marzocchis that were so horrendously flexy they caused me to crash the one and only time I did a run on it.

My dad’s road bike. Such sharp geometry that if you take your hands off the bars for a second you end up crashing your face off.

If we really wanted to stop this at the source, nobody would buy cheap second hand bits from the internet no questions asked.

With no market for this stuff, it wouldn’t get stolen.

If the only requirement you’re wanting feedback on is year round mud plugging and Peak grit punishment the only one that jumps out as being any better suited to coping with that is the Five with it’s single pivot, Uk friendly mud clearance, full length gear outer and cable routing.

There are some pretty different bikes in that list that have their own good and bad points, so you might like some but not others.

If you’re a year round Peak rider (like me) then the lower spec of the Five doesn’t sound like that much of a compromise really when you consider all your stuff gets eaten by the grit within months anyway…

It would be ostentatious, which is why you’d bring it up on a forum I’d imagine.

But do it. Might as well, the plane’s going anyway.

Well fortunately Thomson are the best seatposts anyway, so unless money is an issue get the Thomson.

I miss my old Land Rover 90 a hell of a lot, but don’t miss worrying about it getting nicked or breaking down.

Henno’s pretty nails, but Lewis Collings could kick his ass back to Walford.

    Don’t you mean Lewis Collins?

John McAleese could kick both their asses.

They don’t call him “Demolitions Expert and First Through the Window at the Iranian Embassy Siege” for nothing you know.

He’s double-hard to the power of nails.

Use a ring ended spanner to bend them all beyond use.

Sorry to hijack this thread – I’m considering doing the same thing with my SLX and fancy fitting a chain guide. How does that Blackspire thing (or any of the twin ring tensioners for that matter) work?

Does the roller move along it’s axle to follow the chainline across the two rings?

I’ve not done any research to back this up, but going on the usual assumption that the VW badge commands a premium, I’d suggest theirs is the least value for money version of the Sharalhambraxy trio.

Don’t sell. You wont get much for it, themoney will be used up before you know it, and you’ll then be at the same point you would have been anyway, but minus the escape of the ride.

I’m not an avid Trekkie by any stretch, but I’ve been meaning to watch this episode for ages as I’ve always heard good things.

Thanks for the heads up, really enjoyable. Laughed out loud at a couple of it’s most self-aware moments.

    Curtis I’d say.

Though I did see a *really* nice jump bike in Sheffield centre the other day, it was either a Last or a Leaf. Gorgeous paintjob and very clean looking frame.

But still, Curtis. Bare, with the fillet brazing or whatever it is.

Long way off innit. Might do it on my post-apocolyptic hoverbike.

But yeah, I plan to go.

I design bikes in 2D in Illustrator and then take them into Photoshop for a bit of semi-photoreal treatment. Completely useless for anything except passing the time.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone in being sad.

Loved the swingarm cam! Good vid, and great fun terrain too by the looks.
