    ****. Guys.

Hora, clearly you have been privileged enough within your family upbringing to have avoided ill-treatment at a level strong enough to drive you to extreme measures.

Others in this thread haven't been so lucky, so I suggest that making known your incredulity is innapropriate. I doubt anyone takes or has taken this subject and their experiences lightly, so maybe a bit of sympathy or at least resisting the temptation to judge the actions of others by your own experiences and opinions would perhaps be a little more welcome.

Seems a shame to put a modern fork on it, though I have to agree that those bombers don't entirely do the rest of the build justice. Still a gorgeous build, but I was thinking some old SIDs would be cool too.

Titanium is what makes this suspension design possible […] it's very cool (and unusual!)

Agreed, it's a wonderful thing. I always used to fantasise about designing a none-URT pivotless Ti suspension bike (when most other kids were dreaming about Lamborghini Diablos, or having it off with bare ladies).

Longer brake lever blades perhaps? Dial them to bite closer to the bar so he can get his smaller hands round them a bit better? Thinner grips for the same reason?

Singletrackworld users seem to really enjoy contradicting. I don't know why. I do it myself. Forums are bad for it but of all the ones I've used, this is by far the worst.

It doesn't matter what you say, more will contradict than support. It's odd – most STWer I've met aren't like it in person.

If someone mentioned the high-speed performance of Mattracks in real life I wouldn't dream of correcting them as it would simply be a dickheadish thing to do. Yet my last STW post did just that.

The temptation to correct people from behind the keyboard is so great, I wonder if it maybe satisfies something within us all. Perhaps it makes our otherwise largely impotent and frustratingly inconsequential male middle-class existances feel that tiny bit more worthwhile.

In much the same way an overweight greasy-skinned, geeky virgin might scoff disdainfully at your idiocy when you mispronounce a character's name from Star Trek, it's not often the modern man gets a chance to kick ass, put someone down and victoriously lord it up over their fallen corpse, so when a chance arises to take a little victory, however brief, we snatch it with both hands and go full bore down the broadband cable.

    Forums innit.

God I talk some crap on here.

    Shifts n'all

Mattracks have a 40mph limit on them I believe. Shame, I reckon they'd go great on a Carerra Four.

Best trail centre cars have got to be either the Dangel Berlingo, Mitsubishi D:5 or the Auto-Seikel Transporter T5 Extreme.

With honourable mentions going to the Alvis Stalwart, the Hagglunds BV206, Pinzgauer 716M and the Unimog U5000.

I wouldn't, too much risk of tearing the stitches open and the ensuing faffing around it would cause.

Patience would be the order of the day for me. That and a DVD box set of something good.

I've always assumed cadets was for kids that were planning on a career in the forces. Is that not so?

From your misty eyed reminiscense it certainly seems character building!

They come up small, do Humvees.

I have a 30" waist – my Fox 3/4s are small and they hang off me, can actually fall down without a belt, while my medium Humvees are a little snug on the waist if anything.

How the scottish medium is about half the size of a yankee small, I've no idea.

PS I find the endura liners good too. Don't know why they get so hammered.

Got to say I love that interior. Those swivel recliners are wonderful.

Fine by me. But let's change it to odds live, evens die.

Just to check, you still fine with that, Matt?

Oh dear GRF, you've made the mistake of looking for sympathy and support on a forum who's contributors will automatically contradict whichever side of any argument you happen fall on.

Whether you're looking for support for a worthwhile cause, or a bit of sympathy, perhaps regarding the unfortunate death of an entire family in a wideley reported runaway car, you won't find it here.

The argumentative and condescending self-righteous keyboard warriors will continue to slap you down whilst dismissing you as an idiot, however fair and valid a point you raise.

"STW. The only place where you're wrong whichever side of the argument you fall on, even if it's both."

My Dad and I often used to spend an hour or two, out in one of the outbuildings (it was a farm), cutting ash logs with a big two-man crosscut and then splitting them. We'd talk about all sorts of stuff while we were doing this – like tractors, bikes, building radios, wheel building, all sorts of good and useful things.

    This warms the heart.

Absolute classic! You could have a right laugh with this and a 50:50 costume – hmmm….that gives me an idea for this years Wharncliffe Weekender fancy dress ride.

Good call, I'll look out for Twoface from Batman.

That reminds me of my favourite from last year – the geezer who dressed up as Steve Peat and used hand-coloured cardboard to disguise his M3 as Peaty's V10. Class.

Or do a half and half colourway, like Trek did on their team DH bikes a while ago. One side was white, the other blue, IIRC. Caused some confusion among the race marshals from what I read, as you end up with a different colour bike depening what side you ride past people.

Orange's folded ally construction would lend itself very well to this actually. As long as you remember to paint the opposite inside faces of the swingarm appropriately.

In fact if they offered it as a (no doubt rather high) cost option I'm sure some folk would take it up.

If you can leave the wheels in you can weld a turbo trainer to the floorpan and that'll hold the bike upright.

If you are careful and you take care to refit the carpet around it, it'll work just as good as the factory original, but for much more work and a great deal more expense.

I think it's a bit short sighted to just assume it was an easy situation to get out of. According to the article the guy was a traffic cop so should be used to high speed driving.

I'm going to assume a combination of keyless ignition, auto-box quirks, cooked brakes or other such mechanical and electronic oddities caused a situation he couldn't get out of.

It's easy to sit at a computer and dismiss him as stupid for not trying hard enough to save the lives of his entire family.

Jealous of this, nice little project.

Would also question whether you need to copy the bulky design of the original SLX part – surely ti could be a bit less bulky for a similar strength?

But whatever, I've no idea what I'm talking about. Still loving it and looking forward to seeing the CNC goodness at the other end.

Last night I dreamt that I was visiting an exhibition of the work of Johnson Banks, in a shopping mall in Berlin which was also near a bridge where I live in Sheffield, whilst wearing nothing but a bath towel.

    Dreams are stupid, ignore them.

Not knowing the first thing about Swindon makes me feel slighly unqualified to comment in this thread. However, there's no big secret around why men treat women the way they do is there?

Men are biologically driven to spread the seed as far and wide as they can, and women are biologically driven to make a nest and settle.

So the usual case is that mrs thinks her time has come to settle and build a family at around about the same time blokey's getting ready to hit some new poontang.

If I understand biology correctly, which I'm almost certain I clearly do.
