Not cycle related but the other day I had a chump right on my boot as I was driving through a 50 speed single carriage way bit (Doing 50/55), when it broke to dual carriage I gave it some gas and left him out in the outside lane not overtaking anything. About 5 minutes up the road the speed camera van is normally parked up on a Friday afternoon and yes it was a Friday afternoon. I slowed down and the chump came hurtling past me only to go over the hill and be in full view of the van. My speedo was reading 75 (GPS reading 70) so he must have been going at least 85. I was smug!

You're the only person that knows the answer to this.

    I haven't ever tried any – LOL

Just wanted to know what people were running as in my mind the 17 degrees would be really bent back but by the looks of the picture they aren't.

    11s look good though…

My 9 speed cassette dug in nicely on my Pro II so I just thought **** it and ran a standard SS cog and spacers on mine. So far so good!!

    Hmm heres the problem:

You might expect her long-term partner Philippe, 49, to advise her to slim down, but instead he encourages her to eat more.

He met Donna on a dating site for plus-size people and is a self-confessed fat admirer, although he himself only weighs 150lbs.

'I think he'd like it if I was bigger,' said Donna.

'He's a real belly man, and completely supports me.'

Scary, I feel sorry for the Child, what a role model she has!!

What annoys me most about the scheme and many other schemes that the Government run is that they are only available to employees if the employer takes it on.
I need to pay for child care and I read that I can claim an amount before tax for that, does my employer do that scheme – NO!
Do they do the cycle to work scheme – NO!
So I miss out and can't do anything about it other than TRY and convince my employer to do something about it!

What I don't understand is that if you are 'hiring' the cycles then why are you paying the value of the products over the year?

Surely the cost of hiring the bikes should be the value of the bike minus the market value of the bike after the hire period. So if a £1000 bike is worth £500 after a year then you would pay the £500 difference over the year (give or take).

The wife has got an old man green one, 1.4 16v comfort. She wanted a VW Polo and we saw the Fabia and for £2.5k it had done 52,000 miles came with power steering, air con, electric windows, CD Player we couldn't not buy it and that was 3 years ago. It certainly doesn't hang about either. When I drive it I always think 'wife bimbles about in this I think it needs a bit of clearing out' and give it a good hammering and it's good fun. Normally when the wife drives it the average MPG is 40+ which I think is pretty good too.

Some friends and I were waiting for a friend to catch up whilst out on the Mendips when another group of cyclists came past. We were stood next to a small puddle that all the riders rode past – except one!
As he rode through it he suddenly ejected over the handlebars and onto a heap in front of us – we couldn't stop laughing – nor could the group that he was with. Why he went over the bars nobody knew but it was pure comedy.

I agree with the price. I even live near to the town that used to make them and they have a factory outlet store which can make them a bit more affordable.
However I have yet to find a decent pair in the factory shop, they seem to dig out all the crazy designs or very old man ones – none of the more modern designs.

Correct me if I am wrong (I don't suffer from chain stuck) but I understand chain stuck to be when the chain jumps and gets jammed between the chain rings and the frame (chain stay).

If this is the case can you not just get some handlebar tape, inner tube or a chain stay protector and put it on around the chain stay where it meets the bottom bracket thus making the gap small enough that the chain won't get jammed in there??

Sit down and work out how much debt you currently have. You mentioned it so it must be a big part of what is holding you back. Work out how to pay it all back sensibly in chunks and hey it might take you ten years to get rid of it in your current situation but if you pick up, work full time you can chip away at it and get rid of it sooner than you think.

Second of all, web designing is a good profession to get into but you need to know what you are doing and have some experience behind you.
Learn as much as you can by making mock sites etc. in your spare time. Then help other people by doing them sites (can earn a little extra ££ as well). Then when you go for a job interview you have some 'pretend' sites you designed yourself and some you have designed for other people.

I work in IT and if I interviewed someone who didn't have a specific qualification but had passion and experience I would consider them for a job without a doubt.

When doing your web stuff pick a topic you enjoy (bikes spring to mind) and work with that. Get idea's from other sites etc. and go from there.

You'll be amazed how many self employed people who would like a website but don't have time, money etc. to sort out a company to do them so someone like you could really help them. Don't charge a lot but enough and you'll keep the business.

If you don't know anyone put an ad in a local paper or an ad in the supermarket, at work etc.

    Chin up and keep going….

    oh and riding always helps!!

Edit: One other thing, helping others can really help too. I do a few jobs on the side fixing computers etc. and if I sort out someones problem they can be really kind and full of compliments. This all helps with confidence and a pat on the back goes a long way. Try and use the web stuff to help some people it will go a long way….

I used to run the Funn one on my Boxxers and never had any issues in the crashes I had!! Just make sure you got good bump stops as the forks can be pushed around from the bars and ding the frame more easily.

One thing I found with them (except for being lower etc.) is that the steering felt a lot more direct and more positive.

It seemed that as you are turning the forks / fork legs rather than the steerer tube it feels a lot more positive and direct.

If I went back to triple clamps I would get one in a flash!

My powder coaters don't beed blast as it takes them ages and hassle to swap it from one type of blast to the other.

However I have had lots of frames blasted and never had a problem, just make sure they don't spend ages on it and don't work on one spot for too long.

Most bike paint comes off pretty easy. I took a frame in once and he said I'll just see how tough the paint is, popped it in the blaster, 30 secs later he took it out with me expecting to see a small area done but 80% had already come off!!

Yeah get dropped off at the freeride track (ask driver to stop when you get on) and follow it from there but it's not all downhill though.

    OR….

Ride the DH track to the drop (pictured above) and as you get to the drop turn left and you'll pick up the last descent of the XC track which is cool flat out on a DH bike.

Great track – hmmm I want to ride it now after all this mincing.

If I ride trail centre stuff then normally I am out for a ride and it stays put as I like to keep a good flow.
If I am riding local stuff then I tend to make things more interesting by lowering the saddle and give the bike a good thrash on the downs (DH Styleee).
Depends on what you ride I guess.

Why can't people read the orginal post before posting.

    The first posting stated that:

It was a bike shop who sells on ebay
He checked with said bike shop that the part would fit
He bought part out of ebay
    Part doesn't fit
Bike shop says it will with adaptor
Hope who make the brake say it won't
    Bike shop said **** off!

    Not difficult really.

BAD SERVICE, noted not to use RPM cycles in the future, thanks for the heads up on the bad service.

If you bought this off the classifieds half the people on here would be knocking on his door armed with Bombers by now!!

My 10 month old Daughter had an ear infection last month and we gave her a course of antibs and it cleared up really quickly and she was back on form within 36 hours (gave complete course though).

However I took her to the Doctors this morning as she has been really really under the weather the past few days and rubbing her ear. Worried as it was the same symptons as before but when the Doctor checked her over everything seemed fine and we were sent on our way.

My point being if the Doctor is concerned enough to prescribe the medication I would be inclined to take it as my impression is they don't just give them out like they used too!

Having swapped the BB around now on a few bikes the cups are tatty and this time around I am just going to replace the whole thing.

I think I will just get a standard MTB one, dare I say it, even a superstar one – 😆

If the general answer was yeah go ahead then I would but as it isn't I won't bother with the hassle.

    Thanks

The only thing that concerns me is that on a MTB BB HT II BB they are designed for 68/73mm shells. The cranks have an axle designed for a 73mm shell and you space out the cups on a 68mm BB.

The road ones are designed for 68mm only by the looks of it so would there be enough thread screwed into the frame after I have used the spacers for a 68mm BB?

You'll find lots of rich kids over on the SDH forum who build very nice DH bikes and then decide they aren't for them and sell them for a fraction of the price, £1500 would get you a good bike and leave some £££ for some 5.10 shoes, full face, armour etc.

Personally a 160mm burly bike is fine for UK stuff however if you are new to DH then a proper 180 – 200mm DH bike will help you get the most out of DH riding.

I progressed the most on my Turner DHR as I knew if I came up short or got something wrong the bike could handle it. Gave me the confidence to do gaps and drops etc. that I now do on my 160mm without thinking.

Thanks for all your responses, I am interested in Plant's input as she has a fuji at the moment so it might be a good progression and I appreciate the comments about weight as I could see it being left at home if it isn't right 🙄

Having a quick look it might be a good price to start with too.

Has anyone else spend any time with the Fuji S9600??

    Cheers

We dressed a friend in a pink dress and went out in Nottingham one night for his stag, only made one pub before putting him in a taxi back to place we were staying as the amount of abuse and very threatening behaviour we got was not nice!

Got a stag do to organise next year, liking the ideas!!

No different than wanting to buy an italian car or japanese car etc.

People like to badge and label everything these days and too many people like to get on their soap box and point the finger at other people to make them feel better and all powerful.

I use local suppliers at work as I like to keep the business local where I can, that doesn't mean I have anything against people who live outside 'my area'!!

Oh and I have a british designed and made bike, love it!

Worse crash I ever had I was wearing a full suit, didn't save me dislocating my shoulder!

I tend to just wear leg armour, either full knee and shin or the lighter knee only.

I find the more I wear, the less relaxed I am and that increases my risk of crashing!!

If I race more DH I think I would invest in one of the new neck braces things as they seem pretty sensible!

I once was driving on a duel carridgeway and there was a car in the outside lane doing about 60 (no traffic around at this point except him and me) and I caught them up and wanted to overtake.
I move out into the outside behind them waiting for them to move over. Nothing, just proceeds to stay in the outside lane.
I think OK, not seen me so I flash my lights of which I get the response of him putting his 4 way flashers on and shaking his hand in the air.
So I sit there and wait a little bit and nothing, so the only option to get past is to undertake, I pull back in and start to undertake.
As I start to get along side him his wife and passengers (all 60+) are mouthing something at me and the guy speeds up matching my speed. I speed up trying to get past him and eventually get enough in front of him to be able to pull back out as there was now some traffic in the inside lane approaching. As I pull out he starts to flash his lights and then gets really close to my back bumper (doing about 80 at this point) and we go on like this for a little while until he gives it up and slows back to his 60 still in the outside lane.
Anyway about an hour later I get home and about 5 mins later the phone rings and it was the police.
The police man questioned me if I had been travelling along the duel carridge way in my car and if there had been an incident.
I laughed and said yeah there was a man who wouldn't pull over on the duel carridge way and although I knew I shouldn't undertake I was forced to do so as he wouldn't move over.
The police man laughed and said I thought your story would be different and asked me to give my side of the story.
Afterwards he said that the man had gone into his local police station and reported me for nearly causing an accident. He told me if I had enough room to undertake he had enough room to pull in and he was breaking the highway code for not doing so and would go back to the man and warn him about breaking the highway code!! He seemed more on my side that the man who had reported it.
He appologised and said that as they weren't there they couldn't press charges but would have a stern word with the man and told me to have a nice day!

Doesn't matter what bike you got / ride – There was a dude there rinsing it on a hardtail.
However the following guide might help:

DH bike – Good on the downs, crap on the ups, lots of travel to help hide riders lack of smoothness / get you out of trouble when you get things wrong.

FR bike – Good on the downs, bit better on the ups must high five after every jump and call everyone dude.

AM bike – Best bike for the mega, good on the downs, good on the ups, helps if you have an uppy downy seat post.

HT bike – Gives you extra kudos from all the people struggling on their DH bikes, if you can ride then extra kudos all round, if not everyone will think 'why didn't you just bring your AM / FR / DH bike'.

DH tyres and tubes a must. Lots of spare brake pads for the newbees – sintered not organic!
If you don't ride DH start training now – not fitness though ARM PUMP – hurts like **** for the first few days and can make you look like captain hook after 45mins of descending non stop!!

NBT: I used to have a pair of Oakley Racing Jackets which helped but the yellow lenses on those went weird and Oakley wouldn't repair them so they had to go. 😥

TJ: I also wanted to see if I could improve air to the eye brows as they are the cause to most of my misting or sweat in eye problems!!

I had my card scammed and the scammers bought 2 ipods online so they would have had to use an email and password to make the transaction.

When I contacted the bank (natwest) they refunded the money no problem! The shop even refunded me as well as they actually recovered the goods – unfortantly I had to pay the extra refund back 😥
